A moderately popular and well reviewed monitor. Equalling the historical low price of $129 during the Boxing Day 2018 sale.

Most importantly for me the LED panel is full 8-bit, and the back has VESA mounting holes. A big negative though is BenQ's poor defective pixel policy. BenQ used to have a zero bright pixel warranty and an okay overall pixel warranty. After several revisions we ended up with this joke.

  • Thanks OP. Was looking for a decent/cheap monitor!
    Don't forget 6% cash back!

  • I bought this same monitor for 90 dollars on JB-Hifi, about 1 year ago when they were at clearance. It is a great monitor for media and web browsing but not very good for gaming (in my opinion) so I changed it for a 144hz alternative.

  • For someone who hasn't brought a monitor in years - IPS was always seen as superior to VA panels. But this has an AMVA which seemingly has a much better contrast ratio than an IPS panel?

    • I don't know to be honest. My computing screens are 6-bit+FRC TN (three were rescued from Officeworks' recycling dumpster). These have no colour accuracies or contrasts. My entertainment centre screen is a calibrated Panasonic VT60 plasma. No LCD panel has come close to what it offers.

    • But has slower refresh rate and worse colour reproduction vs IPS. If you're using it for photo editing or watching movies I'll still go IPS

  • Anyone know how this fares on the full colour gamut? anyone suggest a cheap photo editing monitor? ta.

    • You just miss out the Dell UP2516D deal, that monitor cover Adobe RGB gamut.

Keep an eye on Dell outlet for that monitor.

  • How's the colour accuracy?

  • Found this youtube review and comparison of the monitor. He talked about colour accuracy and compared it with a calibrated IPS screen. Note: Indian accent sometimes hard to understand.

Quick summary: 72% NTSC — not good for colour grading. Factory colour setting hopelessly bad. After calibration surprisingly good colours and is comparable to his calibrated IPS. Superior black and less backlight leakage than the IPS.

  • Dell Website is having sell for their monitor. most of them are 20% off , few were 30% off.

  • Has been $99 at JBHIFI in the past

    • +7

Unfortunately I cannot find a deal on a time machine.

    • Link? Was the 21.5" model from memory. I got a couple of these when they were $109 during Prime day last year.

  • Waah just bought a monitor, came home, hooked it up and saw this deal. Oh well.

  • Really happy with mine. I'm no photo/video editor nor have I done proper testing, but they're great for media consumption, browsing etc and the colours really pop compared with my previous Samsung monitors and an IPS Asus. Gaming-wise…eh, wouldn't personally recommend - can't pinpoint exactly why but they seem a bit sluggish/off (even with AMA on high) - probably a downside of the VA panel.

EDIT: Just realised, I have the GW2470HL from here while the model in this post is the GW2470ML. Look identical apart from the latter having in-built speakers.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Bought 2, thanks!
