What a fork-ing nice deal! Thanks OP.

    What's Thefork ?

  • Can this be stacked with Entertainment Book voucher?

    • Yes

      • Sweet :)

    • Actually No.. Depends on the restaurants. Few restaurants have refused, as they have to pay to Dimmi, when it is booked by them

  • i dont get it. targetted

    • +3

It's not on the amex app, you just have to sync your amex card on your thefork account and you are automatically eligible for it.

      • Ok thanks

      • What if you're previously synced with dimmi? Do you have to do it again?

Edit: previously synced card is still synced.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

Bookings made via the TheFork iPhone app is not valid for the offer.

Good to know as that’s how I usually make bookings.

  • +1

    whatthefork, i don't get it

  • Probably been asked before, but what Amex card(s) are people getting (with zero annual fee, low hurdle requirements etc) to take advantage of these OzB deals?

    • +1

I've got the Amex Qantas Discovery.

    • The American Express Essential Credit Card doesn't have an annual fee and you can access the deals

    • We were discussing this in the last meeting. Often people ask the same question as you in Amex deals. Would having a page similar to Mobile Plans be useful? We're thinking of showing all Amex credit card deals and then split categories with say No Annual Fee, Qantas, Velocity.

      • +2

        yes please!

      • Probably not a bad idea Neil, if it doesn't require too much work for the team.

My request was a pretty lazy one. A few minutes on the Amex page ("compare cards") revealed that the Essential card is a good enough product just for accessing these deals.

      • +2

        nope i think not necessary

      • I don't think a page dedicated to Amex is necessary at this point in time, where Amex are reducing their reward points earning for those cards, along with reducing the number of these AMEX portal offers.

Bit like our global warming situation, the boat has sailed, a little too late.

        • For you, maybe, but others are still free to see a bargain where they may…

      • +1

Not necessary - a simple Google search will have plenty of information on credit cards (including Amex) whereas mobile plans aren't consolidated and updated.

      • +1

        Yes please!

      • +1

The page should include a suggestion that members should take advantage of a large welcome bonus card before getting a no annual fee card. Quite a few ozbargainers have faced regret later after getting a no annual fee amex.

        • Yes very true.

  • +3

Stuffu TheFork, nothing available in Tassie or NT.

  • $20 Saving!!! fork me!!!!!

  • No restaurants in Darwin participating - hooray!

    • +5

      where is darwin?

      • +1

        Somewhere north of Humpty Doo

      • He's the guy that came up with the theory of evolution

    • Char and Shenannigans are both participating.

      • So they are - weird that Darwin doesn't show up on the promo page. Good find, cheers.

  • is this one time use?

    • The offer was not listed for me when I logged in, but going by similar AMEX offers in the past, I was able to use them more than once.

  • Works multiple times or once per card?

    • Good question. The t&cs don’t mention any limit.

      • The offer was not listed for me when I logged in, but going by similar AMEX offers in the past, I was able to use them more than once.

Edit: Link wasn't working but works now!

    • Not working for me…

      Annoying!

    ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
    when trying to sync.

    • Same

    • I had the same issue.

I tried using incognito mode in chrome and it works for me.

Not sure if the site was fixing itself or incognito solves the issue.

Dinner sorted. Cleaned out the fridge this morning and threw away most of our perishables. Bavarian has 50% off food tonight plus this deal. Amazing essentially I can order $100 of food for $30.

  • Can we combine this with a half price dining offer to potentially get $100 worth of food for $30? https://www.thefork.com.au/about-thefork/thefork-special-off…

    • +2

Yes you can I just booked and both offers were included.

      • None with both offers here in Perth unfortunately.

Looks like this offer is better for pubs/drinks than the 50% off as it includes alcohol.

        • None in Brisbane either

  • +1

Finally got it to work. But then checked what is available to use and it's like two places in Adelaide that I'd never go to.

    • two places in Adelaide that I'd never go to Adelaide

      FTFY

  • +4

Only 8 (expensive) restaurants in Perth.

    • +1

Yeah the only thing I can see that might be worthwhile is $20 off booze at Belgian Beer Cafe

  • +6

"thefork.com.au/amex will advise you if 10,000 bookings have been allocated and the offer is no longer available."

YAY! I swear this is the first time it has been made clear whether an offer like this is consumed or not. You are normally left praying to get some cashback by doing something that isn't worth it if the cashback fails. WELL DONE! BRAVO!

  • if some restaurant says AMEX welcome but not $50 get $20, will we still get credit?

    • +3

      No

  • Thanks !

  • was able to sign up at 8pm tonight. Had a laugh w the confirmation page:

“Success… now redirecting you to the Dimmi website”

  • Thanks. Booking for the first time with a restaurant offering 20% off. Where can I go to check that my booking has the discount applied?

  • Forking great!

  • +1

Anyone else finding that the booking screen is getting stuck on "Select a time" which never loads any timeslots for you to click?

    • +1

      Now resolved.
Just booked two restaurants that are in the Entertainment Book and will spend at least $67 to stack E Book 25% off with Amex spend $50 get $20 back.

  • I am an AMEX card holder but the offer is not listed. Maybe it's targeted.

    • refer to my previous comment above

  • +1

    can't link cards atm.

  • Just tried and still cannot sync my AMEX card. Anyone else having the same problem?

    • Yep isnt working for me

  • FUUUU…

TGI Friday's doesn't take online bookings with TheFork.

I'm guessing TGI Friday's pulled out when they introduced their own rewards system. We used to do TGI Friday's with Dimmi for the AMEX offer and combine with Ent Book. So sad =(

  • having a look now, not that I would expect but in VIC i have not found one place that has both the amex deal and half price dining

    • +1

Sake Hamer Hall does. Available on Sunday. Great food but yes quite pricey.

      • +1

nice find, I couldnt find out what the special menu was

but I was looking at one particular day only, hence I couldnt find

      • Thanks Yola. Rang up about the set menus. In case this is of interest, was told they are here.

        • 5-course $79pp
        • 7-course $119pp
        • so for the 7 course, you could use the 50% off stack that $20 off for $40

          nice!

          • +1

@Samsungnote10: It appears so. The time slots for the 50% off tend to be rather late though.

            • @bluesky: yeah I did notice that, but for $40 I will be more than happy

was just thinking though, if you are going with 2 or more people, to get the $20 off, each person
that would mean each person would have to sign up , register their own amex, and book as well?

looking through the T/Cs, it says you need to make a booking, but does the amex card need both to trigger the booking and purchase?

              • +1

@Samsungnote10: The $20 cashback is tied to a booking.

My thoughts are - for 2 people, 50% off for 5-courses is $79. With $20 off, that is $59 - still a great bargain (they have gotten 2 hats before). Personally, trying to use 2 cards via 2 bookings, and possibly seated at separate tables :-), sounds like too much hassle.

                • @bluesky: Yes no disagreement from me.

Splitting is a bit harder but it seems its booking linked so yeah will try one card

  • Is it for one booking only, or applicable for multiple bookings?

    • I'd assume you can use it for multiple bookings so long as you're one of those first 12K bookings.

      • Oops, I mean first 10K bookings

    • Anyone tried multiple bookings on one account and got credit back for all of them?

      • haven't even got the credit for my first booking (nearly a week ago).

        • Thanks for the feedback

        • did it eventually come?

      • +1

Update. Confirmed could use same account multiple times and get credit back

  • +1

can confirm, that you can only use 1 card per booking,

what I did was made two bookings at the same time using 2 different accounts, for 2 separate tables, but got one combined bill,
used 2 cards to pay the bill, got the email for the main account straight away, but the second didnt come

  • +2

    dined monday
used two cards, 2 separate bookings for one table

    got 1 credit back today,

    happy

  • I still haven’t got anything, not even an email that Amex usually sends instantly when the transaction is made.

    • +1

I didnt get an email either, but a few days later I saw my $20 credit in my account. So hang in there a few days, and if it doesn't come still contact amex support

    • The amex notification is usually instant, so if you didnt get it after a day or two id say youre not going to get it

but as mentioned, just call support, they are usually quite good with crediting you

    • I got an email on Fri shortly after I paid with my card. You should email them just to be sure.
