        LOL so much

    • I guess the real game here is working out the exact number which will get you laid and rolling with that for the other half. Don't want to over commit for poor value, or under commit for a poor outcome.

    • send pic first and i'll consider

  • +1

I walked past a bunch of these earlier… they were already half dead.

    • +25

Perfect. Finally the kind of flowers that reflect the state of the relationship.

    • +6

      quantity not quality

    • Itā€™s the thought that counts, Tell her you bought them from Aldi. She will be impressed.

    • Much like the people buying them

    • Pick out all the half dead ones and you still got yourself a nice bouquet

  • +1

Great deal… consider this as a cheap root if you gone dry for the past few weeks, months… or even years

    • +47

This deal only includes the stem, not the root.

      • +4

        And it's dry too.

      • +4

Lol I love all the light hearted banter that goes on here, you guys are awesome!

The one day of the year I prefer to be single. It allows me to spend all that money I save on pointless things for myself. And the only disapproving expression I'd get is from my credit card.

    • like every other day?

      • As an introvert I've found being single far outweights that of being in a relationship by about 100 times. I go out of my way to stay single. This also brings along perks of actually being able to spend money on myself, and not get dragged to screenings of Twilight so I dont upset the other person.

        • +3

do you have to go far out of your way to avoid the women? :)

I had a friend who sounded a bit like you…. though I think his issue was he thought the only girl that would want him must be only after his money.

We pointed out that he really didn't have much to offer financially, and he got married a couple of years ago at age 50ish. Now with a son, he agrees it's the best thing he ever did.

          YMMV :)

          • @SlickMick: I guess I have 7 years to go before I reach marriage age like your friend :)

        • +1

Staying single because you're an introvert is fair enough. If you're introverted and in a relationship it's a constant fight for personal space.

That said, long term a relationship is much more than going to movies that one person likes and the other doesn't. After you've been together for a while you tend not to give a damn about whether the other person goes off and pursues their own interests without you if you feel secure.

If the person who you're in a relationship with knows you're an introvert and what that means as far as interpersonal time, then they'll give you that personal space willingly without judgment.

I say this as an introvert and general misanthrope who has a partner and a a kid.

          • @Pantagonist: If I ever find someone I find worth the effort like you did I may change my mind. As of right now I've enjoyed being single enough to suffer death glares from girls I've said no to. Maybe I should get a fake wedding ring. Saying I'm 'gay' doesnt seem to work well enough. Also getting paranoid she might have a single gay friend with her which could backfire.

            • @vlahka: If someone reveals that they're interested in you and you reject them, that's going to hurt them no matter how gentle the let down is. Stink eye is understandable. Just move on.

You know what you want, so why lie about your sexuality or your marital status to make things less awkward? If the shoe was on the other foot you'd be expected the take the rejection gracefully.

What you don't want is to become so closed off that you miss your chance with the first person who's with the effort. Just be yourself, as trite as that advice may be.

              • @Pantagonist: I actually got more grief when I used to tell the truth, however stupid that logic is. One girl wasnt pleased, threw all manner of insults at me like am I gay, what sort of man are you to not be interested ect. Girls are super mean. After a bit of abuse I told her I'm just not into beastiality. Super harsh and dumb, but I was pretty annoyed. She lunged at me. Thankfully her friends held her as I cowered in the distance. At the moment the only person that would change my mind is Kate Beckinsale. I hear she divorced recently. I might send her a tweet..

  • "If she says NO, Aldi have a 60 day satisfaction guarantee"

You mean within the 60 day window, I can get back all the money I've spent on the Mrs over the years?

  • +16

Do these come in special wrappping? Iā€™m thinking of splashing out another 15cents and put them in an Aldi shopping bag.

  • No stock ALDI Erskine Park, NSW. Manager informed me there's a supply issue. They should have arrived with their other flowers today.

    • +2

Plot Twist : the manager took up all the stock because he's looking to propose with many roses

  • +1

saw some schoolgirls buying roses - I wonder if it's for themselves?? why would a boy want roses for? I don't get it…

    • +4

Why assume they are for a boy?

    • +2

Are those the only two reasons you could think of?

    • +10

Obviously for themselves so they can post a status on Facebook and instagram "omg look, a guy proposed to me b4 valentines day!!

      • +1

        Yep, it's very common.

      • but isn't that lying to other people? they're thinking they have an imaginary boyfriend then??

  • +3

Personally I think cut flowers are a waste of money. I would suss out the partners views on them before buying.

    • +1

      good luck!!!

let's know how it goes LOL

      • +1

My guy knows not to buy me Valentines stuff, waste of money.

        • +1

Agree! Flowers in soil much better!

          • @dust: Personally I prefer herbs. They smell nice and taste good.

            • @try2bhelpful: And make movies more interesting, and popcorn even more delicious.

  • only need one, can I pay $2

  • +3

And here I spent $130 on a bunch of flowers.. Oh dear..
I think these florist invented valentines day so they can guilt drip couples and jack up the prices of these roses. We fell for it

  • Anyone stock in WA ? I would like to pick up one bunch on the way home .

  • Bought these last year and they all smelled and were mostly dead next day… Wouldn't recommend to buy as much as this it sounds like a good deal

  • +5

I went to 3 different Aldis last year for these. They were all miniature and nearly dead.

    • +10

      miniature and nearly dead.

      That's what she said

      • +2

        Savage.

      • r/suicideByWords

  • This time tomorrow they'll most likely be $5/50

  • +4

I get my roses at the bone-yard, dead people don't seem to mind, cost $0

    • +4

Just don't let your missus catch you there mate, seems like you already have one foot in the grave..

  • +1

None at Aldi Marrickville, NSW. Of flowers they did have, most didnā€™t look in good condition either.

  • +2

Free flowers available at your local cemetery!

  • +1

I'm going with a $2.95 pizza and a Ram iced coffee. Nothing says I love you more.

    • Nothing says I love you more like a ram

  • +1

I walk past these at the local Aldi every year and they always look crappy. Give your partner something nicer a couple of days after for a reasonable price.

  • -1

If she says NO, Aldi have a 60 day satisfaction guarantee

Unfortunately, the same satisfaction guarantee isn't available if she says YES

  • +1

She said yes, so I no longer need these things.

Interesting how most comments shows guys buying for girls, how bout the other way round? I booked a 5 star hotel this weekend and got flowers for my husband :) I do this 3-4 times a year.

    • -1

Does your husband like flowers? Fruit/chocolate bouquet and the office walk of embarrassment isn't too bad.

      • He likes flowers, fruit/chocolate bouquet. Heck, he even enjoy the walk of embarrassment if it works for him. But he doesn't get embarrassed easily.

        • +1

Genuinely sounds like a keeper. Have a wonderful day, and every other day.

    • 14th Feb is not the weekend.

      • Hotel on a Thursday doesn't seem as fun as weekend tho' …

  • +1

Anyone wants to share? 10 roses enough for my valentine.can save some money.

    • Share what, roses? Nah!

  • Just cut some off your neighbours garden or local park. People that pay for flowers are chumps, look around there's plenty of flowers for the taking

  • One for each girl Iā€™m dating # playerlife

    • +2

Only if you can work out how to send them digitally!

  • I'm surprised romance still exists.

    • +3

It's hard to come back from a betrayal like Brutus'. You'll learn to love again.

  • I misread the title as steamed roses and was confused as to why someone would want that.

  • +1

I'm waiting for S&BJ Day in March!

  • I remember Aldi used to sell Roses for a 1$ for Valentines day that didnt last long now they are 8$ for a single rose

Picked up half a dozen for 20 which was half the price of the local florist so wasnt too bad

  • -1

These are nasty at my local no wonder they are so cheap buy elsewhere Iā€™d say

    • +2

Purchased this for my darling from my local Aldi and they looked decent; https://i.imgur.com/mVQW0ke.jpg

It was better value than from Coles where yesterday I purchased 10 red roses for $35. My wife suggested to hand these out to the teachers at my kids school.

Happy St ā™„ļø Valentine's Day everyone

  • +4

Crikey, I managed to get 2 lots from ALDI in Heidelburg. They had heaps. 1 for the wife and 1 for my painters wife. No questions please.

    • Playing your painter at his own game?

  • A few left at Bayswater. Fairly decent

  • On clearance at my local for half price

  • I can confirm that 50 roses did nothing. Total flop. Returning them for a money back guarantee.

  • -1

Lots of roses half price at my local aldi. Though, they look a bit worse for wear already, and its only been 1 day past V-day. Pretty poor quality flowers obviously

  • So… Who returned them? ;)
