Qicklock Temporary Security Door Lock $5.99 Delivered @ Qicklock

2830

Greetings everyone, really glad to see this deal back again. I can safely say from experience that it's one of the most handy tools for travelling, as it allows you to lock any door when you're inside the room. Particularly useful in applications such as share accommodation. It doesn't work as an application to lock the door while you are out of the room.

This usually goes for ~$10.

Description:

Airport security? no problem. Staying in a dodgy hotel to save money? No problem. Renting and can't change the locks? No problem. No installation …. No key required…

The lock fits most left or righthand inward opening doors fitted with a latch. It is lightweight and fits and releases in seconds. Whether the door has a lock, no lock or the lock is broken this portable lock can be used. Can be carried in on-board luggage through airport security.

As always, enjoy!

So, in case of emergencies does this make it harder to break in?

Also, doesn't a bent fork achieve the same result?

    • +4

Bent fork isn't nearly as sturdy - doesn't spread the load like these bad boys.

      • Upvoted for getting that by the censors.

    • +32

A bent fork is harder to get on a plane and you can't gaurentee finding one when you need it. There's a shortage of forkbenders due to the popularity of magic shows on commercial TV

      • +3

To add to that, Bender stole all the spoons, to prove to Neo that he could bend spoons as good as him.

      • +1

Spoiler: the trick isn’t to bend the fork/spoon, but to bend space-time (using a camouflaged mass).

  • Why still patent pending?

    • +2

Cheaper to apply for one than go through the whole process only to have cheap ripoffs you can't stop.

      • Would be the other way around.. they've already gone to market, but only the whole process will give them protection

        • +1

Only deep pockets will give them protection.

        • +1

Doubt it'd be commercial to actually enforce the patents anyway if anyone does come out with cheap knock-offs, and if you're not going to enforce it, no point actually getting the patent. You get basically 100% of the deterrence effect at a fraction of the cost.

          • @HighAndDry: Yes that’s my point too. “Cheaper to apply for one” than applying all the way through gets you nothing, if your concern is getting beaten by o/s sellers. If you want to stop suppliers setting up shop domestically, only going the way helps you. Unless they just wanted to stop others applying for a patent lol.

            • @pifts: There's a deterrence effect in "patent pending" because it leaves open the possibility of legal action once the patent is granted (if it is granted) which presents a risk to others wishing to invest money into setting up manufacturing processes even to churn out knock-offs.

      • Why can’t you stop?

        • Who's going to enforce in China?

        • Good luck trying to sue anonymous AliExpress sellers in Chinese courts.

          • @HighAndDry: Good luck trying to find* AliExpress sellers let alone take them to court.

    • +2

Sad…. already seeing similar products (even with some improvement) from Aliexpress

      • +5

Similar devices have been around for decades. Pre-Internet days when US Cavalry mail order catalogue was still a thing they had one that from memory was called O'leary lock.

Can vouch for Qicklock, bought them a couple years ago in the April Fools sale. They're obviously not indestructible but make it hard enough that scumbags will either find an easer target or make excessive noise upon forced entry.

      • Can link some I am interested in these improvements

      • Not really - it's a stamped piece of sheet metal. The idea might be interesting, but it's hardly the kind of idea that took any R&D costs to come up with.

        • Fwiw I am sure many others myself thought of the idea years ago but just fall into that category of can't be stuffed running a business.. fluck that noise

  • +8

Interesting that it is on sale on valentine's day

    • +20

      on sale on valentine's day

Didn't Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend used one of these on this day in 2013?

      • Gold!

      • i think she did, that's why Oscar was also shooting from the outside of the door.

    • +11

My wife refuses to discuss business with me without it!

    • +3

How else do keep the master bedroom locked when builders install cheap hardware on new homes.

  • Found it very useful after the last deal, got another one. Thanks!

  • Grabbed one cheers!

  • Got one some time ago. Used it and Can vouch for quality and usefulness.

  • +1

These are good if you don't care about the door being damaged.

    • If someone's trying to get in that you don't want - better a damaged door than them actually getting through.

  • +7

Great for horny teenage boys living at home.

    • +8

So we lock them inside their rooms.

      • +1

Sometimes even as an adult you just wanna blast those headphones and do it in your birthday suit.. or so I have been told by a friend

Also it is never easy explaining why you have so much lotion on your self at any time.

  • +3

Valentines special. Heh. That's right, keep your creepy stalker away from coming to your house/room… Temporarily.

    • +1

Or kids from interrupting your quality time?

      • +1

Did you just assume kids cannot be categorized as stalkers. oh how dare you. :O
        lol

  • +81

since buying mine 5 years ago I've been to Europe, middle East, Japan x 3, US x 2, Cambodia, india, China, Vietnam, Singapore x 3, Malaysia, HK, and have forgotten to take it with me every single time….

    • +10

Buy this Valentine's day special and you will have a better chance of finding that special one, and keeping them too

    • +2

So, your saying that this lock was very effective in protecting you since your still here.

  • +21

It was the random photo of the parrots that sold me.
    I'll take ten!

    • +1

Same! I bought 3 because of the cute parrot couple.

    • +1

      Parrots? Sold!

    • +1

      We'll always have parrots.

    • +1

      Lovebirds to be exact ;)

      • +1

The picture now makes a lot of sense.
I didn't know they were Lovebirds.

  • Purchased from last deal.Nice to use when you travel.

  • +3

    Airport security? no problem.

    Am I missing something?

    • +1

      A bent fork perhaps?

    • Keep the pesky TSA out of your luggage

    • Yeah - what does this have to do with airport security?

(And if it does - do you really risk being labelled an airport security risk…?)

  • -1

Wardrobe behind the door does the same thing ddddeeeerrrr

    • +20

You must have a bigger bag than me. I can't bring a wardrobe with me when I stay at a motel.

      • O - k - a - a - y .

  • Thanks doweyy. Almost purchased one yesterday from same seller on eBay.

  • +5

    Proven to protect my chastity.

  • No installation …. No key required…

    Wow, works while still packaged.

  • +1

    These are actually quite useful.

Although, if someone is really wanting to get in - this won't stop them. ie the police can still knock your door down lol so don't get any ideas.

    • +7

clearly this 5 dollar tiny piece of metal jammed in the door will beat a police battering ram

      • +2

Look, it's a great useful product.
But some people expect too much from it.

  • +1

Works great if you're renting, don't have locking doors, and kids just never get the hang of knocking first.

    • +1

      Lock them in their rooms!

      • Can't do that. Can only lock from the inside.

        • *Can only lock from the side the door opens into

Which in a house is usually inside the bedroom but not necessarily.

  • Unfortunate typeface on the website. Makes it looks like it is called Dicklock.

Unless they are branching out into different communities.

    • +2

Refer to last picture. Then second to last picture.

  • How long will the shipping take?
I'm gonna travel soon so I wonder if it could be delivered by next Thursday.

    • I would probably choose the registered post or express option at checkout as Australia Post can be really slow in some areas, only delivering standard mail 3 times a week.

  • Grabbed one, looks like something that may come in handy.

    • Will definitely come in "handy" for me.. oh yes it will do. No more worrying.

  • -1

    Are these manufacturered in Australia?
Also how heavy is this product?

    • Have you read the "Deatils"

    • Intruders won’t care about such Deatils

  • I feel like its shark tank stuff

  • +1

    thanks op, no more HODOR

  • Grabbed one thx OP!

  • +1

Bought one, thanks. Makes sense for dodge motels.

  • Bought one last time… super useful.

  • I need similar thing but for the door opening outward

  • Got too, thanks! One for our room, one for the kids when we travel. Good to support an Oz business too rather than a knock-off from China.

    • one for the kids when we travel

Careful if these are young kids, because these can only be unlocked from the inside - so your kid might lock themselves in.

  • Used to use one of these when I lived in a unit and the door was the only real way an intruder could get in. Now I live in a house with many windows and doors so it's not worth me using it anymore.

  • Ordered 2 thanks OP.

  • thanks got 2 for travelling

  • Hey OP how much they weigh without packaging. Doing a 56 day travel/hike in Europe soon and I'm keen but I'm counting every gram - literally.

    • +3

Hi there The lock and pin weigh 44g without the wallet. Including the wallet 54g when you take out the intructions and packing card. Have a great time on your trip.

  • Aw crap, went to get it deal expired. You can use EXDEALOZ to get it at $8.39. I want the deal price. Oh well I guess I save 44grams in my pack.
