@Hunter14: It's always the way, unfortunately.

I've only mopped once. As others have alluded to previously, think of it as dragging a wet dishcloth around. I think it'd be fine if you regularly use it as a maintenance type mop rather than an intensive clean after a long break.

  • Legit question, those looking to use this for the few KM's commute to work, you can't just use a push bike? I mean regardless of how unfit you are or dislike exercise a few kilometers is a few minutes

    • +1

I would imagine these are easier to store on the side somewhere than a push bike haha

    • +5

Try doing it in the Hills and North Shore. Too many hills, end up drenched in sweat. Your work mates will not appreciate your odour.

      • Sweat, all I can say

    • +1

The reason I bought an escooter is that they are ridiculously fun. I got one that can actually provide a decent mileage to get me to places, but if I did it purely for functionality I would have gotten an ebike years ago.

    • As mentioned, easier to store a scooter than an ebike. You could even walk into a store with one without feeling like you're getting in people's way. Additionally, with a really hot summer, you're gonna be sweaty getting on a push bike. Scooter, you can just enjoy the hairdryer like air without getting sweatier.

    • +2

I think both will have their own uses.

I have a pushbike with a milk crate on the back. If I know I'm buying groceries I might opt for the bike instead as it would be easier to put things in the crate as opposed to hanging them off the scooter handles which will affect steering. Otherwise ducking down for a quick shop, I could just use the scooter and a backpack.

Also, I would opt to use a bicycle where I know I am going to have to lock up my ride and leave it unattended for a few hours. No way I'm locking up a scooter out on the street in bloody Southport.

And as someone else mentioned, especially in summer, an electric scooter will be much better to get around on without working up too much of a sweat.

    • +1

You could make that same argument to anyone who doesn't ride, by taking public transport for example. Not everyone wants to do a workout exercise on their way to
      work every morning.

    • I've electric bike, used to commute to work for a few years. Had too many close calls, decided too dangerous on the road - one mistake from a distracter driver looking at his/her phone and I'm toast.
With electric scooter if you could legally ride them on footpaths I would get one instantly and use it instead of driving (8km one way).

Nanny state, too many roadblocks. :(

    • They fit better in the car. I can drive almost all the way, park further away for free and avoid the jam and scooter in.

  • good price for the scooter, just too bad it is illegal to ride in NSW :(

What's the weight limit on the scooter? Asking for a tubby mate (totally not me).

    • +1

100kg according to the description page

      • Cheers 🍻

The photos were too small to read.

    • +2

I've got a tubby mate too (cough cough). He's 92kg. He hired a lime scooter to test out and it struggled up any kind of hill more than a few degrees. Talking 3-4km/h. Brisbane has tonnes of hills, so not great. I'm guessing the lime has a stronger motor than this Xiaomi too. Fine on the flats though. Depends where you intend to use it.

      • cant be more powerful as that would make it unroadworthy

    • +1

I'm 95 kg and just did my first proper ride today. It goes up to 20km/h max on the flats and DOES NOT go uphill at all for me HAHA.

      • Good to know, I'll pass this on to my friend…

        • I take it back. I was on eco mode =( it works just fine uphill!

  • Is it legal to ride on it in WA?? Anyone from WA.

    • +1

They're only legal in qld afaik

  • +1

Can you still ride it like a normal scooter if the battery dies half way?

    • Trying to work this out too, doesn't mention on mi site, hoping a review does

      • If it's like the Lime scooters - yes you can.

    • Yes but it’s much harder than an ordinary scooter to move it without the motor. I’ve tried doing this and it did not end well.

  • This will be legalised nationally when flying cars are invented.

sorry if I sound silly, but can anyone tell me how I can get the robot vaccum cleaner for $448? I used the ebay code PSAVEIT and the final price is $475…thanks..

    • There are a few bundles on the link. Ensure you just chose the vac without any accessories, cheapest option. Stock price was $503 (roughly)

      • silly me! found it! Thanks a million!

  • With a double story house, as I'm not baller enough to buy 2 of the Gen 2's, once one floor is done am i able to remove the docking station and cleaner and take it to the other floor and let it do its thing? Asking in case the docking station has to be fixed semi-permanently to the wall and a power point. Thanks in advance.

    • +2

Yes you are. The docking station simply sits on the floor and you plug it into a nearby powerpoint. When the robot vacuum cleaner has finished, it will automatically return to the dock. You can then move the dock station and robot downstairs. Be aware that the robot isn't that light and is a bit awkward to hold so you'll probably be resting the station with cord wrapped up on top of the robot and carrying the robot like a pizza tray.

    • +2

Unless your upstairs is massive - I wouldn't bother moving the dock. Just take the cleaner upstairs (when it's fully charged) and press the start button. It'll go about it's business and when finished it'll head back to where it started. Then you can take it back downstairs to the dock. If you get the app it'll even let you know when it's finished.

  • 11km to work and 11km to home. Would it be easy to charge at work so their paying the power to charge it?!

    • If work lets you, why not. But it would be good to deplete the battery once in a while.

  • +1

Xiaomi has launched the pro version,so drop the price to clearance the stock :p

    • What's the difference between this and the pro?

  • do u have to wear a helmet with these in qld?…

    • yeah need helmet, also you can't ride on road except designated local roads (50km/h or slower - no white centre lines)

      • ahhhhhh poop..

but u can ride on foot paths ANYWHERE right?

  • re:Scooter, SO can you actually control the speed on this model or does it basically accelerate up to its max speed?

Some scooters have multiple speed but is preset, so unlike a motorcycle or car or golf cart it is not variable speed.

I'm seeing more and more of these on Sydney pathways even though they're not legal.

    • Pretty sure it’s variable speed

    • You can control the speed. The throttle is very intuitive.

      It is not a preset.

  • Hi guys, can someone share an MSDS document for this scooter please ?

  • Pulled the trigger on the Roborock S50 yesterday lunch and I am super impressed with the seller. The item has just showed up at my doorstep and all in under 24hrs.

  • Can I ask whether mi gen 2 is roborock? Or are they two different products? I read online that mi owns roborock? I’m so confused, thanks!
