    • +6

Hasn't been close to this price since December.

      • Cheers mate!

  • Haha…I bought a set for my wife at $395 from Harvey on Sun (needed for wife's bday, so no time for shipping) and then decided to get myself a set from ebay using the 12% off sale code at $351 and now this deal lands! F@#$%!

    • +17

If you purchased @ $351 in the past 48 hours, get on eBay live chat and get the best price guarantee to get a voucher back for the difference and 5%.

      • -2

I thought ebay didnt price beat themselves?

      • I just pulled the trigger on a set of these 47hrs ago $345ish (after 10% off) and tried to get a price match guarantee just now. The f#$@kers declined me because I paid $300 of the price with some discounted vouchers I picked up a while back. They said I can only price match against the $45 difference I paid with PayPal.
I feel dirty on the inside O_o

      • +2

thanks for this. i managed to get a $95 voucher from ebay after buying the headphones from the microsoft ebay store. taking the voucher into account they now cost me $256

    • +9

Its obvious you buy this one and return it to Gerry for a full refund

      • Yeah, I'm not sure what luck I'll have with that? Thoughts, best to just rock up at the store I collected it from (online order), or try my luck with livechat again? I'm probably on a blacklist now! :P

    • +4

HN have a price guarantee. If you see it cheaper within 7 days of purchase they will refund the difference. Unless they use the good old "significantly lower than RRP".

      • +1

Thanks all - will look in these options! :)

        Wow - awesome customer service!

        • +5

Their price match website says they exclude "Products with pricing set significantly lower than the recommended retail price or market value.". Kinda defeats the purpose of a price guarantee.

          • +2

            @Akya: Yup. :/

            • +4

@Stalker: Head back there now and speak to Rodney
He's just matched it for me

Hi Lisa - I spoke with Rodney earlier to seek price guarantee on Bose headphones, without success, but have been advised that you guys will now honour the policy? Is that correct?

I don't think so - will an amount be refunded to me credit card?

yes the same way you paid
                    Brad at 8:24, Feb 21:
Excellent - I presume I wait a few days to see it come through?
                    Lisa at 8:24, Feb 21:
correct i sent the request to refund team so they should see my ticket within 48 hrs then it will take 2-3 days till the money will be shown on your account
                    Brad at 8:25, Feb 21:
Brilliant - have a great day!

              • @Soontir: Can you post the chat - I'm still getting no go

        • I've had a the same experience on a printer. They were selling it almost double the price of other retailer (authorised reseller). And flatly refused to price match stating the exact reason. "Significantly lower than market price!?" WTF? Isn't that the whole point of price match/beat?
I've never had a good experience at HN, and they seem to keep up with reputation.
          /Rant

        • +4

That guy Rodney is a d*ck…. I had a similar experience with him through chat a few weeks ago, he simply refused to price-match and was quite rude too. Think Gerry might have hired him especially to keep us OzBargainers at bay.

    • Get yourself a 28 degrees credit card has Price protection for 12months could have claimed price difference for both instantly

      • Yeah, I really should do that. Thx

        • +3

Just return them to Harvey. What a bunch of sh*theads

          • @DINGUSS: They came good in the end - see above. :)

  • +4

Sony xm3 are better, I've tried both and there is no comparison.

Yes these are more comfortable but Sony has the much better sound.

    • +3

What you find better sound someone else finds inadequate.

      • +10

        That doesn't even make sense.

        • -1

I agree the sony sounds better but the noise cancellations is still better on the bose IMO.

          • +4

@Xizor: Nc is Sony better as well, Bose is only lighter, which makes some people feel more comfortable.

        • sound signature preference is subjective.

          (i haven't listened to either)

          • @dirkgonnadirk: And sky is blue.

            It's not just 'sound signature'

            • @nikoris: in january your buying criteria (as posted on this forum) was 'which is louder?', so i'll have to defer to your expert audiophile opinion :)

      • -3

        said no one ever

        • +16

That guy literally just said it.

    • +14

The main reason why I would buy ANC headphones are for long haul flights/ journeys. If one is to wear headphones for many hours at a time, the most important factor is comfort.

Both these headphones sound pretty average if you compare them to proper headphones dedicated to music.

      • Both these headphones sound pretty average if you compare them to proper headphones dedicated to music.

        Agreed!

      • +5

Finally a sensible answer to the endless debate

      • +2

You can't just say 'both sound pretty average' when one is significantly better.

Also, NC is important for using buses and trains as well, it makes journeys much more quiet and relaxing.

That's the reason I bought the Sony, it's the best of both worlds.

        • +2

Except the comfort world, where it's second :)

    • +8

I agree. I own the xm3 as well. But it not having the multi-point connection is a huge disadvantage in day-to day use. If you use it with your laptop and phone, you have to manually disconnect and connect.

      • +3

If you use it with your laptop and phone

My favourite task. It's why I went with the Bose. Plus I could get them in blue.

    • +3

Can only connect to 1 device at a time with the Sony's, lame

      • +1

Bose still have micro USB, that's even lamer tho

        • Sony ones are good but they are made of really bad plastic and will break at the drop of a hat. Yours won't last too long and maybe that'll teach you not to buy the Bose all because the graphs on headphonereview said they are marginally better.

    • The Bose has the paring with multiple devices and comfort as its advantage and some say comfort is better then Sony. Which I think is because its so plasticy and light. The XM3s are lighter then the XM2s, but still heavier then Bose

    • +3

Sony xm3 are better, I've tried both and there is no comparison.

It's all subjective, I can't tell any discernable difference in sound quality between the two, however, the comfort factor difference is huge.

If I had to replace my Bose, I'd buy the QC35s again without hesitation.

    • Linus on youtube has a video comparing some popular noise cancelling headphones. I'd recomment watching that to help with selection.

    • Sound preference is subjective. I sold the Sony but kept the Bose.

  • what's the range of these, i.e. how close does my phone have to be to pick up the sound?

    • +1

Bluetooth so up to 10 meters but best to be only a few.

    • +2

I have the original model and I can move about 10-20m away before it starts breaking up. But then again if I Have it in my left pocket rather than my right I get issues >.>

    • +1

rting I think the site was called, tested it and it went to about 35m before dropping….

      • Did you say to the JB staff can I test the Bluetooth range and didn't manage to get back;)

        • Then I would have had to leave my phone behind to test it out……unless you were implying to use the staff's bluetooth device or stationary one if they have one to connect to with…? heh…

Besides, the demos had their bluetooth disabled…..for unknown reasons by Bose, even to the JB staff(s)…..

  • +4

Has anyone had any issues with the ANC causing an uncomfortable/pressure feeling with these on? I tried some at DJs and they hurt after a minute but I'm wondering if that's because they have them hooked up to an AMP to improve the sound which may also cause the ANC to be too strong - for my ears at least.

    • +6

I tried on the Sony's there and didn't have any issues with the ANC. For my head the Bose felt more comfortable so I'd rather go with them as my main use is for long haul flights.

    • +2

      ANC can feel like pressure…

      • +3

        Yep.

I know you can adjust how strong the ANC is on the Sony's, so maybe that's why I didn't have an issue with theirs.

        • -1

that's not why - the bose QC35s are essentially 3.5 years old and they have been moved past a little by competitors in some areas (one being the pressure 'issue'). i put it in inverted commas because it's not an issue for most people.

QC45s should be out sometime this year…probably.

          • @dirkgonnadirk: Oh, thanks for that!

          • +3

@dirkgonnadirk: "bose QC35s are essentially 3.5 years old" - a lame excuse but true nevertheless.
"and they have been moved past a little" - Seriously for that price range?
"it's not an issue for most people." - Inexact and inaccurate point.

            • +1

@DAT: er, okay? i don't know what point you're trying to make and i don't particularly care.

fwiw, i own QC20s. they are one of the best purchases i've ever made, and everyone i have recommended them to says the same. i would urge anyone who spends more than 10 hours a year on an airplane to spend $400 on a pair of noise cancelling headphones. even if you only use them exclusively for that purpose, it will be well worth it.

              • +3

@dirkgonnadirk: Yeah not sure his point. Thanks for your advice, I've bought a pair of these anyway due to the price. If it turns out that they aren't for me then the Mrs will be pretty thrilled

              • +5

@dirkgonnadirk: My point - Bose is not the best (I guess more than a few think so) but they are more than good.

  • This price is amazing. I paid like 450 for my QC35's years ago :(

    • +6

but you've had years of use from them…

      • True but it still burns because QC35II still retail for 500.

  • +1

Considering how A2A is currently selling the Sony XM3 for about the same price, that is probably the better buy.

Never liked how you need to use the Bose app or take off the headphones to turn off/lower noise cancelling, very inconvenient and gets annoying over time. On the Sony you can set it to adjust automatically based on movement or just put one hand over the earcup.

    • +3

or take off the headphones to turn off/lower noise cancelling

There's a dedicated button on the left earcup to turn ANC off. It can also be repurposed to google assistant.

  • +5

Just wore the Sony 1000XM3 for x2 trips of about 24 hrs.

The headband is really painful on top of my head. I had to move the headband about 1cm to a new spot about every 30 mins.

My QC35II are much more comfortable and I think the QC35II have better sound … just a pity about the old MicroUSB connection from the 1980s.

At least the Sony 1000XM3 have USB-C.

    • +1

What are the differences similarities advantages disadvantages of micro usb vs usb c? I honestly have no clue besides usb c being reversible or something.

      • That is the future charging cable. More future proof, faster charging, & reversible.

      • +1

        USB-C is the current standard.

        MicroUSB is an old standard.

It sucks having to carry separate old MicroUSB cables and charging is slower.

Much easier to have all your electronics standardised with USB-C.

I refuse to buy any new products with MicroUSB.

        • +1

I've just bought a USB Micro Male to USB C female small adapter and keep in my carry case. That looks after my QC35/wireless earphones for gym / powerbank and everything else is USB C

  • +3

give me the night! the blue midnight! and 10% cahsback

  • are Amazon purchases eligible for the tourist refund scheme?

    • +2

      Items from Amazon AU, yes.

    • Yes, and you can bundle more than one invoice as long as you're bringing them out of the country!

  • Thanks OP.

I purchased this for the missus, and used her name for the billing address.

But the delivery address is in my name. I checked the Amazon invoice and it shows Shipping address with my name on top and Billing Address with her name in the bottom.

My wife would be traveling to overseas later would there be any problems when claiming GST at the airport?

    • +1

No. The billing address and name on the invoice have no bearing on your (her) claim. You just need an invoice with ABN and the product to make the claim.

      • +2

For over $1000 you need you name on the invoice but if you're just claiming the headphones you should be sweet.

  • Nice, pulled the trigger.

  • I have one set and love it!

  • thank you! been looking at these since 2017 lol

  • Thanks bought two. $542 after cashback and amex gift card offers

  • +1

You can compare these and the Sony's till the cows come home, but these are comfy as hell and sound great.

  • Can I claim tax deduction as I use it for commuting and listening to work related podcasts and audiobooks?

  • +1

Decided to get one, thanks! I swear it would be easier to save money if I didn't know about OzBargain… Going overseas at Easter so I'll be able to claim the $29.02 GST back and also getting $19.15 as cashback through ShopBack, essentially making them $271.03!

  • +1

Sony all the way, not sure why people still praising the Bose when we have a great competitor with more features and latest technology. Slight edge in comfort I agree, but the Sony is still exceptionally comfortable and a big improvement over the previous model. I would say XM3 9/10 and QC35II 10/10 for comfort.

    • Sound quality is subjective and I think Bose is actually MUCH better in both comfort and sound. Sony wins with its touch gesture control and USB-C.
