        • having a little can is mandatory for when i play fuel roulette ;)

otherwise servos love to gouge you some 20 odd dollars for a crappy little can that sucks to pour with.

i once saw someone fill up a 10L can at a servo, then put it back in the car and dressed it in a polo shirt
if i were more entrepreneurial, i'd be flogging clothing accessories for jerry cans.

This sucks, 20K subscribed in 3 hrs

    • Fuel prices have got up. Also plenty of people unemployed. Economy isn't great. Aussie dollar coming down. Recession is already here.

      Save where you can

  • +2

:( missed out… maybe they should change it to once per card and change the maximum to 40,000 cards

    • +1

It is one cashback per card. You need to spend twice.

      • Thanks for clarifying this, I misunderstood it as $20 each time.

  • +7

Can't believe capped so fast. Something not right.

  • +5

Bit rough releasing this when us sandgropers are in bed - considering we have a BP refinery over here. For the others, I use the BPme app all the time (motorbike and car) and it does pretty well. Also, if you're struggling to fill over $50 just fill up with Ultimate (I do this all the time anyway) and the $20 saving will be more than enough to cover the higher price anyway..

    • +1

Early birds get the worm. Better than 12am WA time which has been for most Amex offers

    • i was up just before 6am and i was in the first 20K.

also some cars don't react well to Ultimate/98RON. mine specs 95RON, i tried 98RON for a bit and eventually discovered it was the cause of hard starts in the morning.

it'd be better to bring a jerry can and fill that until you hit $50

  • +1

why is this not expired yet?

    • Because it doesn't expire until April 4? The only thing that's 'expired' is the registration as it's reached max enrolments

      • +1

Say what? If people can no longer register how does it help to have this showing as not expired?

        • +1

If you read the title of the OP, it says Registrations Capped … The deal isn't expired for those who managed to register, thus it won't expire until April 4.

            • -2

@neil: Need to say SOLD OUT/OUT OF STOCK or something if not expired.
Otherwise people will keep trying to register.
Registration Capped on title doesn't imply you cannot register anymore.

@kerfuffle just like if there's a bargain item that has sold out/expired, the deal will say it's expired/sold out, but it's not expired (seller will still ship item) for those who managed to purchase it?

The website needs to take into account for this category.

              • @brokenglish: We've been using [Registrations Capped] or [Registrations Closed] in these cases (some users using (Enrolments Reached)) since November 2017. I'll change to [Registrations Closed] for clarity. The reason we have done this was based on community feedback that these deals were being put in the expired section of the Amex Statement Credit Deal Page instead of active deals causing it to be buried. It also makes it confusing to those who are posting deals and referring back to it in the description + it causes issues when we link to it on Instagram, it gets buried.

                • @neil: Yes, [Registrations Closed] sounds much better, idiots like me will understand. Great work!

          • @kerfuffle: I understand that but logically it doesn't make sense. If you registered to the offer you already know about the deal… whatever

            • @keejoonc: It makes it easier for people to locate and discuss the deal while it's active, during and after the time they have used it.

  • Is this strictly for commbank amex cards?

    • I thought commbank does not have amex any more.

  • +6

Looks like all the eastern states and early risers got it this time.

  • Just tried and failed. It said maximum card used

    Ozbargained!

I wish there was a scheme to limit cakeholes with multiple cards.

    • They do often limit offers to the primary cardholder, but if someone is paying multiple annual fees they are perfectly entitled to snag as many as they are entitled to.
This particular deal isn't even as good as previous deals.. I only saved it to one card this time.

  • +2

So is the offer essentially spend $100 total and get $20 back?
Wording is not very clear. Past offers were spend $50 get $20 back each time, at first glance thought it was similar this time.

  • +2

Well ozbargain had 6547 clicks…. if we limited to people with accounts, we wouldnt have this problem.

    • +3

We all knew that a week ago, plus it says so in the title if you actually bothered reading it, as well as the comments …

  • -1

Is this being left up to mock those who missed out on registration?

    • Not to mock, but to discuss the deal since it doesn't expire (for those who managed to save it) until April 4.

  • +1

Has anyone successfully received a cashback? Saved the offer to my card and did the whole bpme app thing to pay 4 days ago and didn’t get an email.

    • I used it yesterday, haven't been paid yet. Think it can take up to 7 days

    • I still haven't been credited yet, have you >?

      • +2

You guys did spend $50 each time over two transactions, right? (Not sure if spending $100 in one go will trigger the credit)

        • I still got 2 days to go till to get paid

          • @Danstar: But did you spend $50 each time over two transactions? Your deleted comment says you only spent $75 in one transaction; that won't trigger the credit.

            • +1

@kerfuffle: I was going to write I spent $75 in one transaction on the 28th, the other transaction was for $55 on Sunday, but was on my phone and hate typing long sentences on a phone as I usually make too many mistakes, that have to go back and fix them which takes even longer.

Anyway, I'm assuming it will come soon I've never missed a cashback before, so I'm assuming this will be not different.

    • spend on the weekend but didn't get credit yet as well, and didn't get any email confirmation about the credit, unlike the normal amex offers.

    • Oh didn’t realize you need to make two transaction. Will pour again this weekend. Cheers

  • For courtesy, I used this but do let the cashier know I paid already instead of just walk off.

I tested this but the funny thing is there are signs everywhere not to use iPhone during refill. I suppose it's fine to use Android though. Heh

Anyhow it works OK just remember to leave phone in the car

    • It's not necessary to let the cashier know. Because they have to press some button on their computer so you can have a screen asking you to vote your experience.

      • They have to press a button to release the pump

  • ive used it 2 times .. havent go any email confirmation … but i just drove off haha .. got email confirmation both times.

  • Used mine twice now but no cash back. Going to contact them as I normally get the email straight away.

    • Check your statement online. Amex app shows offer recently redeemed and credit applied.

  • +3

Have received credit overnight. No email received. BP transactions made on March 1 and March 11.

  • +2

I reached $48.50 and may have filled up an empty mt franklin bottle to make up the difference.
