    Yes it would be a decent step up from that particular Yamaha model. Yamaha make some great soundbars but that model is their entry level which retailed for $349.

        I bought for $550 from TGG back in August. so cant comment on price. I have it in high ceiling TV lounge with open kitchen and very happy with it. Really good base with music, games and movies.

  As I have always found Ozbargainers to be more in the know than your usual punters, has anyone got a soundbar set up in a very open type room? If so, is the soundbar effective? Our room is very big with Living Room/Games Room/Kitchen/Informal Dining all open and without doors or walls to break up area plus a raked high ceiling. If I ask a salesman at HN, JB etc, they will always tell you that a Soundbar is perfect (and usually the pricier it is, the more "perfect" they say it will be )but looking at forums, it is a very mixed view. Anyone able to advise/help me out?
