    Jaycar has them for $25-29.

    • The one on Jaycar is completely different brand. This one is CSB/HITACHI Brand.

  • Jaycar cheaper. Ebay even more so

  • Back in the day the NBN required that I install the battery backup/enclosure

Battery lasted ~ 2 year approx

    Removed the dead battery

NBN connection Works without the battery inserted

    just an FYI

    • Pretty sure it was just a policy thing. It was optional when I had FTTN installed but there was no savings passed on for excluding the battery so no point really in passing it up at the time.

    • Its so your phone works during a blackout, thats all.

      • It was changed years ago to also power the UNI-D ports as well.

Mobile phone - no additional cost.

  • Is there anyway to stop the beeping permanently without replacing the battery? NTD at parents house has been beeping for ages, I read online you could hold a button in to turn it off which worked for a day or so but it’s been beeping ever since

Try holding the silence button for >20 seconds until the light changes colour (to red?). This should silence indefinitely

Yep, just hold down the silence button for a few seconds and it'll keep it off.

      • Thanks I think that’s what they did but the beeping returned. Will give it a go over the weekend.

      https://www.nbnco.com.au/content/dam/nbnco/documents/nbn-fib…

Page 24. Says hold silence button for 15 seconds, until you hear a second beep. (2.5 seconds will silence for 24 hours)

  • I’ve removed the battery and my NBN still works.

Even in a blackout (extremely rare) I can’t use NBN anyway as my router is not battery powered anyway!

What were they thinking I should be doing in a power interry? I should conmect my laptop directly to the NBN box which is awkwardly located behind my closet? I’d rather come out of the closet!
