TicWatch E Shadow Smart Watch $149 Delivered @ Dick Smith / Kogan

100

Long time fan of the site, and this is my first post.

Dick Smith is offering the Mobvoi Ticwatch E smart watch for only $149, with free shipping. This is $41.99 less than buying directly from Mobvoi.

Also available in white/ice (https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/ticwatch-e-ice-smart-wat…) and yellow/lemon (https://www.dicksmith.com.au/da/buy/ticwatch-e-lemon-smart-w…).

This watch was never a flagship, and has since been superseded by the E2, but is probably the best value Android Wear watch available.

      Fire, ice and dragon types.

Is before or after Fairy types were introduced?

    • Techradar gave it 4.5 stars.

Pros: Loaded with features, like built-in GPS and heart rate sensor
      Fantastic value

Cons: Dedicated app is an afterthought
      The design won’t suit everyone
      Not-so-elegant charging method

My personal main complaint is a lack of NFC.

        It has nfc and speaker

        • No. This isn't the pro model. No nFC..no b28

      • I find the charging method very elegant - magnetic clip works very well.

        • Are you or anyone else finding the charging pad on the watch starting to corrode/ developing pits like being eaten away? I've had the watch since their kickstarter campaign, end of 2017? So just a bit over a yr.
My original Lg G watch uses the same charging pins system and same thing also, until about 2 years the pins on the dock just won't make proper contact anymore and won't charge.

Was same since couple of weeks and was lower before

  • Bought this watch for my partner on the CNY promotion. He absolutely like the watch. The only complaint he has is the watch reaction a bit slow

    • Can you comment on the GPS accuracy? Was after something to track my hikes. (Does it log independent of the phone?)

      • Sorry GPS is not what my partner needs so I can comment on it

      • I only use mine for fitness tracking, but it seems to do a good job. I think the main difference is that the battery takes a hit. A dedicated hiking watch may be better geared up for the situation, but personally I went the TicWatch to explore those uses and it's been pretty good and I haven't felt the need for more. You might want to check what hiking app is available and whether it suits you.

  • If you want to try an Android Wear OS smart watch at the least cost, try this. Be prepared for sports watch, not dress watch.

  • I bought an LG Urbane about two and a half years ago for $180, and it's sad how little devices have advanced since then.

Really wish someone would come up with better screens/chips for watches to actually advance them, instead of a chip from 2016 based on a design from 2011.

I also gave up wearing my urbane. That I want a silent alarm means I wear a fitness tracker to bed anyway, and the fitness tracker has all the notifications my watch has anyway. Props to LG for keeping up software updates on the thing though, got WearOS 2.0 a few months ago.

  • Just bought this after my Galaxy Gear s3 Frontier decided to go to the watch graveyard.

Obviously not as nice with less bells and whistles but for the price it is exceptional, very lightweight, does everything I need it to and the charge lasts through the day. If you want a watch you don't want to be worried about having on your wrist due to breaking it, grab this one. Couldn't spend another $500 on a galaxy to have it decide it was time up.
