If you are looking for a Apple iPod touch, then this is a good price at the moment. Not very often do Apple products go on sale like this.

  • I don't follow Apple products, but these things look like phones… without a phone. With only 32GB etc, these things could be made for about $15

Mp3 is dead, pretty much everybody is into online music streaming, yet the prices of these mp3 players are still extremely high.

    • You do realise that these support all streaming services, right?

      • I don't.

      • As long as you are at home on Wifi…. No good outside on a walk for example.

        • +1

You can download the tracks you want to keep on the device for offline playing just like on your phone

            @Riker88: So much hassle.
Mp3 player era is over. Whoever pays these extremely high amounts, is just simply and plainly stupid.

              Hi-Res music is not.

You can’t seem to comprehend this isn’t an MP3 player. It’s a smart phone, without the phone. It does everything an iPhone can. They run identical operating systems.

  • I like how they don't make 64GB model, that's apple.

    • Very deliberate. "Oh it's only $200" (actually $300). "Oh 32GB isn't enough, I better get the next model up"

They are expecting new iPod touches to launch soon.

Not that I'd ever buy one but if you're in the market it could be worth waiting a month. The current model has been out for 580 days.

you're joking right? Sales of their iPods have been decreasing every single year and profits hardly make a dent in Apple's earning reports. iPod nano and touch have been pulled from sale.

market is headed towards Bluetooth speakers and speakers with Alexa/Assistant etc. many users just use streaming services like Spotify on their phone etc.

there is no way in hell there will be another ipod touch, cos there is no market for it.

  • Great device for kids, but Apple can’t make a worthy iPod touch replacement to take advantage of iOS gaming that’s cheap enough to compete with hand-me-down iPhones.

I’ve got 6th Gen with Screen Time, which is why 5th Gen that can’t run iOS 12 not as useful. Having said that, both Gens are well made and last for years.

I’d wait to see if the rumours are true.

  • Maybe for $80 more you should get an iPhone SE instead? This is like an iPhone 6 with smaller screen and no phone call capability but iPhone SE is like 6s internal with smaller screen.

Where are the SE's up for sale?

I don't want my kids to have a phone till they are in high school.

      • -2

        like that is gonna happen

        • So far none have got a phone before Year 7. 3 owned ipods, one an ipad prior to high school (all bought with saved pocket money).
The fourth kid is in Year 5 and has seen some friends get phones, and is agitating for her own.

        • +3

          like that is gonna happen

          Here how you do it:
          1) Don’t let them buy one.
          2) There is no step 2.

      • Plus there are some locations/facilities that will not allow anything with "phone" capabilities but will allow music players

      • Don't put a SIM in it and it's basically a better iTouch.

    made and sold to suckers

  • Isn't this model 4 years old and basically watered down non-cellular version of the iPhone 6?

  • People still buy ipod? Hahaha
