At 10,000btu, this AC is good for a small bedroom. If you're looking at getting one for a medium to large sized living room, make sure its minimum 14,000btu. Still a great price for this AC though!

Personally have found that a similar unit just didn't work at cooling a room. The way the portable air con units blow so much hot air exhaust out the window seems to result a lot if warm ambient temp air constantly being drawn in. This seems to negate the effect of any cool air that it does deliver, and to the point where I have not seen a change in one degree of temperature. It only seemed of benefit to sit right in front of it to get the cool air, however it has the loud roar of a jumbo jet so just stopped using it.
Can anyone make testimonial to these? Maybe my units just a dud.

    • I have this sitting in my ensuite and yes it sucks a lot of warm air, but mostly it stays in the bathroom while the cool area goes into the bedroom (it sits in the doorway facing bedroom). It's just good enough to work in our bedroom. Very loud though, but i got use to it.

    • Portable air cons work for me. It takes about 2-3 minutes for my room to be completely cool. I usually keep it at 25 degrees cooling otherwise it gets too cold, and im constantly switching between cooling and fan mode. My window kit isn't setup the best so there's definitely hot air leaking back in from outside, but that doesnt seem to affect the cooling of the room

there are portable aircons that come with 2 hoses. or you can pay for the 2 hose add-on as an optional extra.
They are reasonably rare though & unlikely to be avail in a cheap unit.

Most of the no name Chinese portable aircons lie badly about their cooling power - much like no name Chinese LEDS
As a very rough guide, the most efficient of this type make 9 BTUs for every 1 watt of input power.(many are 7-8 BTUs per watt at input)
If the power input is less than 1100 watts , then its bulldust.
I have tested several of these "12000BTU" Chinese no namers and they are drawing 7/800 watts input and only making ~ 6000 or so BTUs.

Simple physics will tell you that any unit sitting wholly within a room CANNOT be an air conditioner as it has no external heat exchanger. At best it is an evaporative cooler.

    • Can you comment on these exhausted models? It appears they create negative pressure and draw in lots of ambient temperature air.

    • The photos don't show it, but in the description it says:

      Package Contents:
1 x Pursonic Portable Air Conditioner
      1 x Remote control
      1 x Exhaust pipe
      1 x Window bracket
      1 x User manual

So it includes an exhaust pipe you need to run out a window/door to actually cool a room.

    • It’s a portable air con, why over-think it?
