Just to clarify, a scoot is where a dog wipes his worm infested butt on the ground, right. Were all the other airline names taken

    • Dictionary result for scoot
      /skuːt/
      verb INFORMAL
      1.
      go or leave somewhere quickly.
"they scooted off on their bikes"

      • Oh ok, so words can only have one meaning? Noted 😔

        • Excellent, now you get it!

    • Source please.

    • It's owned by Singapore Airlines. Nothing wrong with them. Much better than dealing with AirAsia customer service in Indonesia also

      • Ok so it can’t mean it’s when a dog wipes its ass on the ground because Singapore airlines owns it. Thanks for clarifying.

        • Please share your bad experience of Scoot with all of us

          • @Sammyboy: $80 ‘convenience fee’ which was in addition to a CC fee. I’m the morning the meal came with a can of Coke only, it couldn’t be swapped with water. That’s in addition to the name being the word used for a dog wiping its anis on the ground to relieve it from the feeling of worms

            • @Bellpop: A set meal is a set meal I guess. I've had a look at the menu and all the preorder combos seem to come with a bottle of water too. All airlines have various fees, some hide it in the ticket price some don't. I managed to get Singapore return with luggage for 540 over the Easter Period. The planes are all new and in good condition, pilots are obviously checked by Singapore airlines, and I think the paid for food is actually tastier than the economy food on Singapore airlines. Air stewards are pretty helpful and polite too. The last meal I had on Singapore airlines outgoing from Melb was inedible. Their business class really should be called premium economy though. The seats are not as comfortable as Air Asia's flat beds. When you saw the $80 fee, you didn't have to book it, but I'm guessing the flights were still cheaper than any other airline even with that fee.

Air Asia X is the worst in my opinion. Booked a trip to Bali, flight was rescheduled 2 days before leaving. The day before they called me again and said cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances with no option to reschedule. They said I would have to find my own way back. They cancelled many flights and all the airlines jacked their one way prices back to Melb to $1000. I thought, whatevs will claim in insurance. AA checked my details to refund return flight. A few weeks later, Allianz rang and said that the flight would not be covered as they needed a better reason than unforeseen circumstances. I emailed AA and 2 weeks later a response, saying that's all the info they had. Tried to call and got told as it was to do with the Indonesian division I had to call the overseas number. I had to buy a calling card and spent many hours over many phone calls with massive hold times, and repeatedly re-explaining everything and giving my details for refund. Every email that came back was a no reply email, so I had to fill out the form again which meant another 2 week wait. Then AA sent me an official letter from their legal department, which said the same thing, due to unforeseen circumstances the flight was cancelled. Insurance needed a valid specific reason. In the end, Allianz found out that AA had sold a whole heap of flights that actually had not even been approved! And hence they and no other insurance company was going to cover the cancelled flights. 6 months later I got my money back for the return leg of my original booking. So for me, I wouldn't book AA ever again.

            • @Bellpop: I just spoke to someone at Scoot and she said you either get water or coke with the meals. So she was surprised you couldn't get water and that there may have been some other reason/circumstances involved….

  • What's the sneaky $80 fee?

    • +2

$80 is illegal for Credit Card fees. Should be a maximum of 1% of the transaction value.

      • I think this is for australian registered businesses. Overseas businesses don't have to follow

        • Yeah, I contacted the ACCC about this years ago. Specifically the workaround applies since they're (naturally) using a foreign payment processor that doesn't come under RBA regulations (https://www.choice.com.au/travel/on-holidays/airlines/articl…). I've had issues using POLi with these foreign airlines before (failed confirmation page and double bookings) but I think the payment reversal time wasn't too bad from memory.

      Wow that's steep.
Bangkok return 1 person. $40 CC or paypal surcharge
Singapore return 1 person $20 CC surcharge
      😳😳😳

Our family flew with Scoot in November last year from Perth to Athens. They were wonderful. No issues here. Can't wait to fly with them again - especially at those prices. At the end of the day you don't have to fly with them if you are unhappy. There are other airlines - you make the choice.

It's actually one of their better sales e.g. Berlin in summer for less than $620 return and all the little places in Malaysia are $149 etc. And cheap fares to most places in SE Asia and China as usual.
