Even though the G8 has been announced that's a great deal on the G7.

The G7 specs are better than the gimped version the G8 that LG will be selling in Australia.

      • I am so disappointed by this

      • Lol who would by the g8s over a samsung s10 especially pricing the g8s at 1199. Lg are outta their minds.

        • I’d expect no less from LG, they released the V40 in Australia the same month that they launched the V50. I had such a soft spot for LG phones, just like I did with HTC. But, just as I did with HTC, I have given up on LG.

Yeah, I read that $1,200 price, for a no quad DAC, no MicroSD slot, no Crystal Sound display, and a lower resolution display, and reduced from 128 to 64 GB storage. Seriously 64 GB storage and you can't expand it, at that price?! (and don't tell me iPhones get away with it - LGs androids are nowhere near iPhone in terms of pricing power, for one thing iPhones typically get OS & security updates for 5 years from release versus the 1 year and a few months that my LG Android actually got). Tell 'em they're dreaming, son!

      • Oh lord. Looks like I'll be hunting for a grey import G8 then. Why does LG shoot itself in the dick every time?

        • They just don't want business. Soon enough LG will become Sony mobile division. It will not be any kind of player in the market not even minority.

G7 or V40 shall come down in price.

        • Why hunt one down? Boycott LG for pulling this BS instead.

    • Hmmm I have a V20 that is still in fine condition but getting a little slow. I'm off to Japan mid April, so could claim TRS. Do we think it's likely there will be a better deal anytime soon?

      • If you've got a 28 Degrees credit card, make the purchase with it, so you'll be able to recuperate any value loss from price drops.

Although having said that, the G7 pricing is very similar (within $5 difference) to when there's an eBay "20%" off sale from Allphones eBay (ie same company), which is quite often (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/lg-g7).

        • I think I might pull the trigger. The TRS refund makes for a pretty great price. Just checking it's unlikely there will be a crazy drop in the next few months!

          • @Poimandres: Knowing LG phones' pricing history, it is likely there'll be further price drops (e.g. the recent V30+ prices). However, unlikely by next month/mid-April (probably closer to actual G8S' Australian landing date.

Better chance if Amazon AU actually sell that model itself (e.g. that crazy Amazon S8 pricing last month), but unfortunately it doesn't.

        • 28 Degrees don't have price protection by default. Price protection is an add on you have to pay a fee for.

    Current Sharp Aquos S2 cost ~$200 …

"P.S. there are no price errors"
    I laughed out loud

    • Better call to verify. No. Wait. LOL

  • Is the G7 worth another ~$200 comparing to the V30+ in those recent dealS?

    • I personally don't think so despite the newer CPU. The other benefit to the G7 is the boombox but you have a smaller battery. V30 battery destroys G7.

      • Can't agree more on the battery. Prob will wait for V50. Thanks

Depends on your priorities of the experience.

        A comparison of specs between G8S, G7, and V30+: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9608&idPhone2…

        Main differences:

        • G7's display is IPS, while V30+ has OLED. Supposedly the OLED is better in terms of technology, (I've only used the G7) but I find the screen of G7 to be still very good (coming from a Lumia 950 XL which is a 1440p AMOLED display). Also the ratio is different, and depends on whether you are okay with notches or not.

        • A comparison of chipset performance in an interesting benchmark (uses different phones, but Pixel 2 uses 835, while Pixel 3 uses 845): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k40U7zvGZ1w Bear in mind the benchmark is, well a benchmark, so may not always reflect real life usage but only to emulate. While there are differences in performances, I'd expect the V30+ (uses Snapdragon 835 chipset) to still be very adequate (still either equivalent to or superior than current mid-range chipsets) for general usage.

        • Camera: The main shooter of G7 and V30+ seems to be the same, although the ultrawide module on G7 is a slight upgrade over V30+. However, the front selfie camera of the V30+ is a 5MP which quite some people may find disappointing for 2019. If you don't take a lot of selfie, I think it is acceptable, barely.

        • Battery: V30+ better.

EDIT: oops, was supposed to reply to the original commenter (johnnyle)

  • I know it's good to support the smaller chains, but I have $700 in JB vouchers. Has anyone had JB price match Mobileciti?

    • If your located in sydney, then i say you should be all good.

      • Melbs, unfortunately.

just checked with Bondi store, they said they only price matches with advertising price. Shame I just about to get 2000 gift card for the phone..

        • I price matched an iphone xs max at david jones. I had to read out their price match policy to them a few times. 8% off david jones gift cards and TRS next month is a win-win.

        • Ah crap wow

G7 owner here. Great phone and I paid $799 for it (albeit I did do salary sacrifice through work and cost me $250 out of pocket in the end). I'd definitely recommend it.

  • oppo R17. the "special" twin brother of the oneplus6T.
is it worth it at that price?
kinda the same phone but about $230 cheaper

    • Bought r17 pro 2weeks ago from jb hifi for 599

      • Really that's shocking and I would say it's great bargain for the new phone and oppoR17 pro.

  • +1

I see they have an LG G6 for $499. So with the deal $450 is still a bit much compared with what the V30+ is going for.

  • why is mobi v30+ on ebay down to 540 but g7 ebay is 700? (pre 10% off)

  • Ignore

    • You

  • I'm not too up to date on phones in the last year.. anyone have a recommendation for something more budget mid range? in the 500 sub range? Typically an android user. No need for gaming. Just casual camera snapping

    • Z2 Play is a beast. I got a grey import for $235 last year and it is smoother than my HTC 10.
