    • There's a few different Glen Waverley stores, make sure you get the right one.

      Profit?

When you figure it out, let me know.

  • I locked in the fuel but underestimated how many litres I needed! :(

    • +1

Always lock in the max you can. And its still running so run out fill up as much you can lock it in again. I have a 55L tank i locked in 118L, some times i can be charitable or just get some one else to fill up at the same time.

      • @Kiato how does this work? I thought you forfeit what you don't use on the voucher?

        • Nope, the money is used to lock in the voucher, but you don't actually use the money unless you pay using your 7-11 app.
Its a 2 step process to pay using 7-11 app and use voucher.

          1. Scan Voucher - this barcode works similarly to Coles / Woolies 4c coupons, except this one is alot bigger.
          2. Pay using 7-11 App - a different barcode to step 1 - if you want to pay using card and not use your 7-11 app credits, you have the option to use your credit card straight on the machine instead of scanning payment barcode.
          • @lplau: Thanks for clarifying that for him but I was thinking he was referring to in used litres on the voucher. To which the easiest way I found is just have a second car pull up beside mine on the other side of the bowser and pass them the handle to fill up at the same time. Or apparently this works but I haven’t tried it but according to 7/11 staff it’s fine. fill up on say pump one hang up handle pull your car out let car 2 in at pump one again and fill up at the same point. Both cars can use the same voucher as long as it’s on the same pump. The voucher is a one off use but you can use it over multiple vehicles, as long as your are safe about it staff don’t seem to care.

  • Hurry hurry get the dregs from the bottom of our tanks that we're draining, free sediment and impurities that'll make your engine go ping!

    • +1

Well if you are afraid of that…. then lock it in and go to another 7-11 which just got refuelled… or is selling more expensive…
Locking in a price, doesn't mean you MUST go back to the same 7-11 petrol station. You can use it in any 7-11 station.

it's sad this is considered a bargain

    • This was a pretty good deal tho

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/438961

      • Oh i meant like this price should be typical standard price and that bargain you linked should be the bargain, price of full too much

        • It’s definately a bargain. Australia has one of the lowest fuel prices in the first world

          • +2

@asafasr: Yea, people haven't seen the prices in Hong Kong…..
Today prices @ Shell HK in HKD….. per liter.
            Shell FuelSave Unleaded - 16.74 = ~AU$3.00
            Shell V-Power - 17.93 = ~AU$3.22

And people complain about our fuel prices being high…. LOL

            • @lplau: I went to NZ in Nov and was absolutely shocked when I saw 2.60 pl for unleaded

Someone got hit by a train near Glen Waverley earlier. Probably not the greatest of traffic conditions in the area right now

    • Got a week to use the lock in.

      • Got a week to use it anywhere but Glen Waverley 7-11….

    • +5

Don't worry, we have other means of getting there.

    • You mean, you don't have a teleporter?

      • The tech savvy folks have a software teleporter. lol.

  • Warrigal Rd had $1.14 the new one near keys Rd? didn't think to post as driving further to a petrol station defeats the purpose…

    • For 98 or 91?

    • What suburb? Can't recall keys road

  • Man, am I the last person that knows how to do the lock in hack? Can someone DM me with the info

    • +2

You'd need a tech whore to touch your filthy frankfurt.

    • Would have suggested Nox, but it just borked itself on me…

Check the 7-eleven thread, you'll find the info there you need.

  • Thanks, just filled up at 7pm, they are out of 91 hence the price

  • finally got sth under $1.3

  • Damn lol I drove past this place twice today and didn't notice. Of course I filled up yesterday.

  • +2

Fuel truck is here now. Price won’t last much longer!

  • No need to wait in line at the Glen Waverley 7-11 for the petrol, lock it in whilst at a nearby station such as Ashwood, fill up at the discounted price, then lock in the price again to fill up next week.

  • This 7-11 in Glen Waverley on Blackburn Rd always runs out of 91 and selling 98 for 91 price. It's the 2nd time this year that's happened.

Good for me as I drive past this all the time. Fill and relock!

  • Is it still on…???

  • Still going

  • Just locked it in, thanks.

  • Pretty good deal considering it’s the same price as unleaded regular atm. Anyway knows what the real benefits are between the 2 to justify the price difference or is it all just marketing?

    • It depends. You either need higher octane fuel, or it doesn't matter and it's left to marketing to convince you to spend more on it.

If you're engine was built to run on higher octane fuel, you need to use it. When using a lower octane fuel for a higher octane engine you'll likely see a loss of power and fuel economy. But more importantly using lower octane fuel can cause engine 'knocking', which is destructive to the engine itself. Some modern engines are built to detect this though, and can retune themselves to accommodate better, but it's still not good.

If you're engine is not built for higher octane fuel, then it doesn't matter, you can use whatever you want. This is where marketing comes in and tries to convince you that you should buy it. However, some engines may actually see improved power and fuel economy from using higher octane fuel, but many do not. You can test this yourself by filling up on 2 full tanks of 98, and measuring your fuel economy/mileage on the 2nd tank. Do you get further compared to 91 or is it the same?

If you're engine doesn't need 98, and it doesn't perform better when you do use it, then it's a total waste of money for you.

      • Ah interesting, how do you tell if your car needs higher octane fuel? Mines only a toyota camry so im guessing that means i dont. Still it may reap some benefits of greater milage hopefully.

        • owner's manual or sticker near the fuel cap will tell you what it requires. Failing that you can try looking up the specs for your exact model/year on https://www.redbook.com.au . You'll want 'RON Rating' under Fuel.

  • Thank you, locked in.

  • What happens if you buy less litres than you lock in?

    • You pay for what you use, then your locked in price resets.

You can re lock in twice a day from the same station I believe.

      • So if I lock in 20 litres but only use 10, do I forfeit what I paid for the other 10?

        • Am I reading this wrong are you asking if dollar amount you used to top up your account will be lost?

You pay for what you've used, the rest stays on your account as credit for next time.

Or if you're like me, you don't pay with the app but your card, so your account always has $$ on it.

Or are you asking if the other 10L will be lost? If that's the case, yes you lose your locked in price, meaning you need to lock in again.

          • @athk: Okay sorry guess I was confused about how it works. I thought you pay when you lock it in, but it seems that payment is credit which is separate, and instead you pay after you fill up. Thanks for explaining.

            • @inherentchoice: Correct, you can use the credit on the app to pay, or opt for cash/card as per normal.
