Woolworths Weekly Specials 4 May - 10 May

440

94 specials from Woolworths this week, with the top specials being SIM cards and phones. 2 types of prawns get another appearance at the top of the specials tree (jv!), and there's a cracker 50% off special on Kraft Peanut Butter 780g ($3.99). Fab laundry powder 1kg is 57% off ($2.99), Mars bars are half price, as is Zafarelli pasta. More and more non grocery items seem to be appearing in the weekly specials which is a shame. I hope they start focusing again on groceries instead of undies and mobile phones. Have a great week everyone!

  • coles wins this week i thinks

  • Coles also claims to have the same price for everyone, rather than sneaky price differences across socioeconomic areas (if that is what they do).

That's the only reason why I can understand that my local Woolworths is charging more!

For example, the pasta is '82c, save 83c' rather than 79c.

Why the price difference? Is it just that Woolworths charges more in Sydney?

    • i think the normal price is the same, but the stores are free to lower it.

Does a week go by where prawns aren't on special at Woolworths? :-)

    • +1

during the festive weeks, christmas, new year etc? maybe

    • How meaningful are prawn specials anyway? I mean, the price changes anyway on a weekly basis depending on supply and demand. Given that there is no regular price, how can they say that the prawns are x dollars off?

      • ever looked at the tag in the display case? it tells you the special price and the savings from the regular price

as for meaningful specials, some weeks are good, some weeks arent

$14.44 a kilo is a good price for banana prawns, $6 off a kg of tiger prawns when thier on special is good, as are cocktail prawns when there $17.99 a kilo

    Jawsome

  • Well my local woolies has all easter chocolates on 75% off, been the cheap ozbargainer I am, I naturally stocked up for next year.

    • ummm those chocos expire within the year

      • its best before, not expiry date, so its still ok to consume, just doesn't taste as good. I do keep away from the one's with liquid centre.

Perfect for kids on egg hunt

        • Yeh. I just finished some easter M&Ms from Easter 2010 :P

Milk chocolate tends to go white with age. Nothing wrong with eating it, but the texture changes. Storing it in cool (but not cold) conditions can help to extend shelf life. Don't forget to remove the 'best before' date before handing 2011 chocolate to the kids in 2012 :-)

        • If I'm not mistaken, exposure to light (might be only sunlight) or cold.. or something also makes it white. While I can't remember the cause, I do remember that the reason is that (at least part of) the milk solid separates from the rest of the chocolate.. or something along those lines.

      • Some of the ones I looked at in my Woolies didn't expire until mid 2012.

time to stock up on tuna!

Amen. Another 80 cans for the checkout chick to scan :p

    • mad as a hatter :)

  • btw, Hornsby Woolies has "Extra Special" this week. Enter 2077 and view Hornsby Extra Special catalogue. for example : Tresemme shampoo, in the normal catalogue it is 6.99, in Hornsby Special it's 4.99. Or Tim Tam, in the normal catalogue it is 2 for 4, in Hornsby special it is 1.79 each.

    • Why Hornsby? Is it a special occasion or are they losing too many people to AL DI?

      • supposedly it's "after renovation" special

        • Thanks, I am just home after going to Woolies and then Borders Hornsby.

** Here's a GREAT deal: spend $50 or more at Woolies Hornsby, until 10 May, and get 10% off!**

I will be back to do a major grocery shop! :)

Unexpected, fun thing there: the Elvis easter bunnies - and watching people play with them. Priceless, especially when gay couples see them (not kidding!).

  • The Telstra SIM deserves its own post. You can activate with PPCap+, $220 of calls, 400MB and $30 to buy a data pack or whatever.
    Just $10 for a month.
(Despite anything it may say to the contrary on the packaging.)
