Yeah the ram turns me off. I know it would be more expensive but I'd buy it if 2gb.

You wouldnt buy it for gaming, but for basic web browser, home automation tablet on wall might be good

This whole “ok for browsing” thing needs to end. Modern websites often make heavy use of JavaScript, browsing is no longer always basic usage. Some sites would easily use more resources than some apps (especially if the page of full of ads).
use an adblocker like pi-hole and that will reduce load
1GB of RAM will make this tablet next to useless. Buy if enjoy lag and slow loading times.

Important question does it have java? Other Android tablets I’ve bought didn’t have support for java so couldn’t run certain apps or browse certain sites

The other reviews are rubbish.
1gb of ram will be the biggest hurdle, but that being said i can't comment on how much of an improvement go is on 1gb ram compared to full android, or even what you give up (if anything) with go. anyone experienced this?
