Not bad for what to me is a mini-tablet, but note the U5 4G often goes for about $59 and i've found it pretty good.

I use these cheap phones when i need to go out and there's a risk of losing the phone, such as when i'm down at the pool or brothel. That is there's no SIM card, but i keep transport apps/Guardian etc up to date via WiFi so can still find the bus home and read all the hippy news on the way.

Price is unexceptional, and performance and functions are subpar. Vodafone's Alcatel U3 and the its larger brother U5 are 4G capable and were $19 during Target's special.

  • 3G 850mhz area only as telstra is shutting down its 3G 2100 band…. before it closes 3G altogether in mid 2020ish.
So if you are expecting to get longer out of this, forget it, but at this price for a year of use it is probably ok

  • I have used the below link to unlock the U5 - message them to see if they do the U3 also.
