im sorry to the delivery man….

    • +3

for providing him with gainful employment?

  • +5

$2 cashback in NSW and other applicable state 😉

    • You mean the 10c per bottle drop off, right?

  • +8

Seriously, bottled water should be banned. These toxic bottles are doing all harms to everything. The harvest of water also endanger the origins eco-system.

    • +2

What about soft drinks coke sprite

    • +11

Why negged?? That comment is highlighting we have a problem accumulating more and more plastic and wherever we can help reduce, we must. Water quality in Australia is at par with these bottled water. This has been tested again and again and recently ABCs War on Waste demonstrated this again and the impact bottles are having on our environment and cleanliness.

Not a huge cost to do something good by the planet.

I use these water bottle threads to update my block list, works a treat! Anyone defending bottled water on here gets the big ol block.
I really think it's not a deal anyway, as water is much cheaper from a tap, so shouldn't even feature on here.
Anyone on Ozbargain buying water in a bottle isn't really worthy of being an Ozbarganier.

These toxic bottles are doing all harms to everything

They aren't toxic when used as a water bottle.

The harvest of water also endanger the origins eco-system.

What about the harvested water that comes out of taps?

  • +2

Works out the $3.50 if you take the containers back for recycling

  • Is it just me or are others who previously purchased restricted? It says it’s limited and I purchased 5 back in February. Previous deal

    “Australia’s favourite”

    Who decides that?!

    • The most purchased item from Australian customers?

      Their demand and purchase data?

      CEOs mum.

It's called advertising Puffery. Unfortunately it's allowed in Australia.

You can pay nearly 2000% more and buy a $5 water at an AFL game…

    • +3

      Is it 2000% more hydrating?

      • +2

        Thats some serious hydration

      • No it just makes you have 2000% more buyers remorse.

  • Thanks Bought 5.
Does the postman leave it at your door or do they send it to postoffice for you to collect? There was no option in my deliveries…

    • Leave it at your door.

    • Last time I bought this AusPost didn't bother delivering it, just left missed you note. Had a sticker on it with clear instructions to leave it at the door.

    • +2

They put it in your letterbox

      • more like, they open the bottles and flood the letterbox

Water bottles… byproduct of our fast food, instant gratification culture. I understand people are busy these days but you can easily buy a decent water filter and fill up 20 of these at a time and reuse during the week. Assuming you drink 2x of these bottles per day = 0.55c x 300 days = $165/year or $13.75/mo.

We had some water issues at our place and water company sent a water engineer over. Learnt a lot of things from the bloke. This guy has worked at various water plants and water bottled companies. The water in most Australian cities are under 150ppm. He said we have the cleanest water in the world and this is not by accident… we already pay thousands of dollars every year in water rates (these fees are to ensure our water/sewage are the best), but if you wanna pay an additional water tax, it's your call. He also goes on to say big companies use clever marketing to make people "think" they need something they don't, sorta like 98 fuel vs 95 fuel. At the end of the day, it's your money. Previous to that, everyone in our family drank water bottles at work, now we use filtered kitchen water -> water bottle. He said the only time he would buy water bottles would be if he was out and was thirsty or 2), if he lived in a foreign 3d world country.

btw only reason why we use a water filter is to filter out chlorine and perhaps any lead/pipe contaminants if the house is old, the water coming from Australian tap is already world class.

Great post which I 100% agree with. Very valid

    • In SA, a lot of households have a built in water filter and drinking water tap as the taste of our water is a bit average. Its far from a scientific study but i think i see more people with reusable water bottles here rather than other states.

Back when i was in NSW i never saw inbuilt filters at friends homes etc.. as the general quality of water is a bit better.

    • I grew up in New Zealand, the water there is much better

Bottle water is popular because its convenient. As with everything taste makes a differene… Frantelle to em is disgusting. Mount Franklin is the best. Never understood Evia popularity, it's terrible.

    • Any reccomendations on a water filter? The water that comes out of my tap at home is carbonated and bitter. Have told real estate but they didnt want to do anything.

  • Water. Like out the toilet?

    • Well, I mean, it doesn't have to be out of the toilet, but, yeah, that's the idea.

    • It doesnt have electrolytes

  • Anyone know how i can buy 10 and get free delivery?

    • I want to get more as well. Any ideas anyone?

    • 9 will qualify for free shipping.

edit: looks like there a max 5 limit.

  • Thanks, got 5. Was going to get 15 but max is 5 😢

Turns out I had $5 in my account from a cancelled order. Got it for $0.50 lol

    Does this water contain Flouride?

    • +2

      here we go.

      • Well, if it is sourced out of a bore/spring it wouldn't be interfered with (ie Chlorine as well) .. providing a benefit over suggestions to use just tap water

        • +2

Not having chlorine or fluoride is the opposite of a health benifit.

          • -1

            @spaceflight: It's a matter of degree

Harvard researchers have found it can reduce children's IQ https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/fluoride-children…

            • +1

@Wally: "The estimated decrease in average IQ associated with fluoride exposure based on our analysis may seem small and may be within the measurement error of IQ testing."

              ie. inconclusive.

I also suspect Australian tap water has a Fluoride mg/L range far less than regional Chinese villages :)

              • +1

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Their newer report found it to be statistically significant
Association of lifetime exposure to fluoride and cognitive functions in Chinese children: A pilot study. Neurotoxicology and Teratology.
                Choi, A. L., Zhang, Y., Sun, G., Bellinger, D., Wang, K., Yang, X. J., … Grandjean, P. (2014).

                • @Wally: Then why wouldn't you link to that report in the first place and not waste our time?

                  • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: After a lifetime of exposure to fluoride I'm prolly not as capable as one wud like

                • +1

@Wally: Without paywall for those interested: http://www.cleanwatersonomamarin.org/static-content/Neurotox…

No correlation with Australian drinking water supplies, of which the fluoride concentration is far less. These reports are freely available online. As stated in the article, these are poor rural areas of china, average yearly income of ~$400 US dollars a year, and without the systems in place that we enjoy in Australia.

No adverse outcomes were reported for less than the reported elevated levels tested.

                  Waste of time.

            • +1

              @Wally:

Harvard researchers have found it can reduce children's IQ

Snopes has a good summary on Flouride and IQ that has been recently updated. Their review of current studies concludes there is no need to be concerned.

              https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/water-fluoridation-reduces…

Even if Flouride slightly decreased IQ, avoiding it is a first world luxury. And even still, avoiding it has negative impacts to dental and general health.

We know that Flouride provides greater dental outcomes compared to not having it in water.

In a developed country you can avoid Flouride, see a dentist regularly to have cavities fixed and your quality of life won't be to bad.

In a developing country where people do not have access to dentists or cannot afford them there can be significant negative health impacts from the lack of (or removing) Flouride.
Teeth are important to be about to eat and cavities can cause infections which can cause many other health impacts.

Even if Flouride slightly lowered IQ (which it doesn't) the positive outcomes and quality of life added by Flouride far outweigh any reduced IQ score.

Even if Flouride slightly lowered IQ (which it doesn't) which would you prefer

              • A slightly lower IQ and healthy teeth and better overall health
              • A higher IQ and no teeth or serious infections from cavities

@spaceflight: Wouldn't waste your breath on Wally. They'll look up their local water authority's annual water report, see nothing in common with rural China and never return to this thread.

They probably don't support vaccinations either.
