  • Do they add back up in the name because these aren't suited for everyday use? Such as using it to store Xbox games.

    • I would say because it is because it comes with backup software on the drive. Hence the reason why it says backup. To use it for your Xbox the console will need to format it with its own proprietary partition which means the drive will get wiped and partitioned for the Xbox any how.

    • +1

I use and recommend this hard drive for Xbox. The extra USB ports function just the same as the native USB 3.0 ports on the console, so you can plug any peripheral you want into them. Very handy.

      • There seems to be mixed reports online whether these are SMR or PMR HDDs (possibly they use both types). I don't know too much about this, would most people notice an issue in day-to-day usage with an SMR drive?

        • Nah the 4tb Hub doesn't use an SMR drive. They are in the 6tb, 8tb and 10tb models.

This one uses the 4tb desktop HDD that runs at an energy efficient 5,900rpm, placing it inbetween the 5,400rpm used in portables and the 7,200rpm used in many desktop HDDs.

  • Same price as JB HiFi

  • Pretty normal price. Not an ozbargain as such.
    Rarther a portable usb3.0 hdd.

I prefer OW as I don’t get slugged AmEx fees like at JB. It may not the biggest Oz Bargain but everywhere else except JB is more expensive.

  • You should have waited as it's now $129.

    • I bought two new units on Amazon for $125 delivered plus 5% cashback (=$119)and returned the OW ones.
