    Same price as TLS

      This is TLS

      • Aye. LOL! :-)

  • Much better than the touted replacement

  • +3

Can't recommend these enough. I use them as my Home Theatre setup, and they're easily the equivalent of most sets twice the price.

  • cheapest in the market!!

    • +1

Not sure about that - I bought mine more than a year ago at HT for $199

  • Same here, I use them as for my home theatre too. Although I bought it on COTD for likr $328 + delivery :(

  • +8

Isn't this the regular price on TLS? I've seen it at $290 delivered for awhile now

  • Can anyone tell me if they can decode a 5.1 AAC digital stream?

    • 99% sure it can. I convert a lot of my MKV files to M2TS with AAC audio and it comes up as a digital signal.

meh, this is logitech shop's price for the last couple of months. it's like boasting that moro olive oil is on special at $24 instead of $49.

    • +1

I'd be scared if I was in need of a decent sound system and the z5500 was drying out, soon to be replaced by the more expensive but inferior z906

  • Old price

  • +1

Are these any good for a home theatre? I suppose they are best value for what $300 can get? Any HTiB that can compare around that price?

    • +1

To be honest, if you want a HTiB solution & can live without HDMI (I couldn't), then these are probably the best bang for buck around! :)

    • Even if you were to spend $600 for a HTIB, these would sadly be clearer.

  • is this old already? cuz my friend bought it about 2 weeks ago

    • is this old already?

      yep

      From 2005!

      being replaced by the z906

Just a heads up, if you haven't seen these speakers in person, box is big and heavy as shit

  • what inputs? hdmi?

    • no hdmi. only optical.

    • +1

      no hdmi
there is optical, coaxial and analog (5.1). there is an option to have 3 separate analogue inputs (each lead for a different input)

  • LTS have them at $389 atm

    • This is Logitechshop's ebay site.

  • i bought them for $275.00 delivered. Amazing sound system for the price. Highly recommend.

  • Wired or wireless?

  • Great sound system. I bought them for this price from the logitechshop previously.

    • Same. I was actually blown away by the sound quality ;) I still haven't had the volume at max - maybe 90%. These speakers are awesome. I wish I had gotten them earlier.

  • I wish the following home cinema setup was available in Aus..

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Onkyo-HT-X22HDX-Compact-Cinema-Syste…

it works out to be about $350 AUD.

this unit can go 5.1 .. and also does hdmi 1.4a and all the hd audio formats.

  • For a home theatre on a budget, I imagine these would serve quite well. They have a lot of power for their size. The subwoofer is massive.

The audio quality is a bit on the heavy bass side, but I guess this is geared more towards gamers and the like so its understandable.

Just beware that because they only have optical/coax as the digital inputs, and no HDMI, then you won't ever get the full HD audio stream from HD sources such as blu-ray.

The big cost saving imo is in the fact that you don't need a separate amplifier/processor to decode signals - this does it all. Just take the coax/optical from your source computer/bluray/PS3 and plug it straight into the Z5500.

But I also note that LTS have had this price on/off for quite a while now, so imo it's more of a normal price than a bargain.

On the other hand, the Z906 doesn't seem to offer much at all over the Z5500, except for a higher price, so in that respect this is a bit of a bargain.

  • How it compares with Z906

  • What are these units like in terms of idle power consumption? Do they have a standby mode, and is it any good (power saving wise)?

  • Do they get delivered by a white van ?

  • from what i've seen, the Z906 is the same as the Z5500D in terms of performance and similar in many other core features, except that it looks different.

  • Ive been wondering whether to buy some of these or not, I currently have some older cheap logitech 5.1 speakers, the ones that are no more than $99 these days and they are ok but I dont know if these will be a big improvement. They seem like a nice idea for those who want a quick cheap home theatre. I play alot of blurays through powerdvd on the pc so does anyone know how these go and does it still sound good through analogue inputs even though it doesn't accept bluray hd audio through the digital optical.
