This is my first post, so please forgive any mistakes and happy to get advice on improving the post.

So I was just browsing through the Samsung Members App and found this deal. All you have to do is get a free health check done (hardly takes 5 mins) on your Samsung phone at any Samsung store (would recommend booking an appointment to reduce wait time) and you get a free Samsung 10000mAh Fast Charge Battery Pack worth $59 RRP. This is applicable for eligible Samsung Members, so please check if it is applicable for you (possibly only AU stock Samsung phones).

I have a S8 phone, so I would assume anyone with S8 or higher should automatically be eligible for the deal.

    • Something worth noting - The Authorisation form I signed at Macq Centre was emailed to me, as well as a digital copy of a tax invoice with 'Health Check Battery Pack Offer' on it at $0. Very handy in case I encounter any warranty/technical issues I guess! Looks like the city store are just bypassing a lot of the steps to get people out the door.

    I have an old Samsung S6 purchased outright from Myers a few years ago.
    When OP posted, that evening went home to update the Samsung Members app, then used the app to bookfor the Samsung Store at George St, Sydney.
    Showed up on time for the booking.
    Samsung rep/techie welcomed and guided me to a stool at the counter.
    Asked for my name, booking time, and email address used for Samsung Account.
    They scanned the IMEI, enabled developer mode and usb debugging (it was already on). They connected S6 to their laptop. Tapped agree/approve on the S6 a couple times.
    Diagnostic on S6 ran for <10mins.
    Was informed there were no issues/anomalies.
    Handed me back my S6 and also gave me a power bank.
    Nice and easy transaction.

    PS - my anti-virus/security app picked up Galaxy Diagnostic was downloaded/install during this process.

    TL:DR Successfully picked up power bank for S6 at Sydney Samsung store in 15 mins.

    Edit - Also picked up a free soft serve cone from Hungry Jacks app Shake & Win. (insert It Was A Good Day meme)

  • Just went to Miranda store and walked up. Guy said they had no more battery packs but offered to do health check only. I asked when they were getting more. He said they weren't. Suspect he was pulling my leg.

    • Got one for my S8+ a few days ago but went to the store yesterday again with my sister and they also told me that they're out of stock (Miranda) and that I missed the last one which was handed out at 1:00 PM Saturday.

  • Got mine today at the Carindale store I went at 2pm and was told there was no appointments available for 45 mins - 1 hour and they would txt me when they are free. About 35 mins later I got the txt and then it only took about 15 mins. Plugged in the phone and gave me the free battery pack no problems at all:)

    Got one from Werribee today without a booking.

    Had an appointment for next weekend (nothing available until then) but was worried they'd be out of stock by then so took a chance and walked in today. At first they told me I have to make an appointment and come back but then said that if anyone else didn't turn up on time for theirs they'd squeeze me in. 10 minutes later someone was a no-show so they did the diagnostics and I got the power bank no worries.

  • Chatswood store no help. There was no customers and there was 4 workers just standing around, told I have to make a booking.

    Got one at TTP in SA without a booking.

    Asked about it at the kiosk and they were kind enough to offer me the powerbank without doing a health check. I did the health check anyway.

    19 left in stock apparently.

    Walked into Samsung Carousel about 11.10am, a guy was free and did the health check on both our phones and gave us the Pb after. No appointment and took about 10 mins each 😊

    Picked up one at Penrith Westfield NSW through online booking. I came about 2 hrs before the appointment and the girl just said come back when your booking is Due. Even though no other customers were there.

    Saw more than 5 powerbank left in the cupboard as the guy grab one for me. At the end he mentioned about $200 off new galaxy 10e and 10. He just said anyone perform he health check will get his discount. But no sign or anything I seen.

  • Every now and then, i have to shake my S8 phone vigorously to get the camera to be in focus, does anyone else have that problem?

      Yes, every now and then the camera cannot focus, but if I put it real close to the object, it can focus. Even restarting the phone doesnt fix it. I havent shaked in vigorously but I just leave it for a few hours, and then it becomes ok.

    • Yes, it's a common issue. Rather than shaking the phone, you can just tap the camera lense to fix the problem.

        Apparently not on the A5 but had one on my S8+. So I guess this is targeted to S series devices lower than the S8+

  • Got mine at Southland VIC. Had too book first. 10 to 12 minutes including a little discussion about if I want $200 for my S8+.

  • I have a S9 but also have an old S7 in my drawer.. the screen doesn't work but I can hook it up to a monitor and download the app and use it ect… do the people actually have to see the results of the test or something? How does it work?

      they need to be able to navigate the phone via the screen, since they turn on developers mode etc. and check a few other things like IMEI.

        • Went yesterday, they asked if I had a booking, I said no, then they said oh we can do the health check but we can’t give. You a power bank since they’re is a limited supply. Then I told them I have a booking on Sunday and they just did it on the spot and they gave it to me

    I had a booking for next week but was down at Marion today an just asked at the counter.
    Showed him the App on my phone which said I was eligable so got the battery however he couldnt do a Health check as my phone was the Overseas sourced Dual Sim Kogan S7.

    Their Health check software will only work with AU phones. No Offers were presented on the S10 either. Just "I have to give you the battery because your app says you are eligable " .. Win

    The guy told me I was lucky because it was the last one.

    Booked an appointment for Carousel last weel. Rocked up today and was told their allotment of 100 chargers were exhausted. They aren't sure if any more stock was coming in.

    Had my health check at Joondalup today and alas, no chargers left. To add insult to injury, phone froze a few times straight after my check and when I got home I discovered I now have a pink line running down the right side of the screen.. Never been dropped..scout's honour..besides has spent all its life in an official case. Tried a fix I found online 0#0# etc but no joy.. Am I pissed off? You betcha, a round trip of over an hour, no charger and now this.. My 7edge has been the worst phone I've owned. Might lodge a complaint with Samsung, but won't hold my breath.. In the meantime I'm grabbing another Xiaomi. Have had 4 xiaomis and never had a problem.. F@ck Samsung's eyes, never going back now.

          My S8 had 3 error/fails on it. They said that Macrodroid, Gboard and BlueMail were using too much RAM.

      Hey you should let the shop know and see what they can do, did they mention if they were getting any more at the joondalup store? don't want to waste my time going there for nothing.

    • Not sure if this is just a coincidence or my experience might back up your claim. Had my S8+ run a health check since I have noticed the battery draining a bit more than it was before. They ran the check and they said everything seems to look alright including the battery, except they advised me to run a factory reset as the their software reported an error in one of the software installed. So I did when I got home. Had the health check done last friday afternoon. Sunday night I was using my phone inside my room with the lights off when I noticed a disparity on the screen which is very evident on white background. It looked like a screen burn. The following day I went to Samsung Centre in Olympic Park to have it checked since the phone is still in warranty but is almost due, they confirmed it was a screen burn. They replaced my unit with a refurb one as I don't want to be bothered coming back the following day to pick up my unit after repair.

      I have been using the phone inside my room with the lights off every night and never noticed it until after I had the check done. Good thing the phone is still in warranty.

    A bit late but I have some info to add:
    Eligible devices are (or just include) Galaxy S5-8 and Australian stock only.
    Health check involves USB debugging being enabled, a privacy/permission thing being signed and accepted on your device and the device being connected to their laptop (so it must still work I guess).
    Had to install Samsung Members and found I was not targeted (maybe app needed to be installed previously) but one staff was super cool and did it anyway. I avoided the kinda rude/impatient staff member who ordered I install the app, am confident they wouldn't have done it. My device has unauthorised mods which showed up and is obviously not my main (flight mode, no SIM) but this was not a problem. Also the freebie battery stock just went from 1 to 0 at Garden City, Brisbane. They got 90 units and don't expect to get any more. Thanks OP, I use these batteries a lot and it looks so nice!
