  • My mileage with using cheap leaf blowers as mulchers/vacuums has been spectacularly poor. Even the expensive ones have little-to-no suction power.
As blower it's nice and cheap, but it looks like the Ozito one (I had one of those die on me, just within warranty).

Personally I'd pay extra for this one:

Variable speed control, can swap tubes for blowing/sucking - in which case in blower mode, it's much more lightweight - the OP's one looks one massive tube with wheels.

Crazy how the whole unit is cheaper than replacing a bag that has been shredded by the incoming sharpened sticks

For the extra $14 or $10 compared to this or Aldi, respectively, think the 3 year warranty replacement on Ozito is worth it (esp. when you usually get upgraded to latest model if yours is no longer stocked).

Have the Ozito linked above & although not heaps of use, can't really fault it on blower or vac functions.

Just as long as your not expecting mulching of much more than dry leaves/grass or small twigs then found it pretty robust so far.

The XU1 still comes with 12 month replacement warranty, not sure about Aldi. In terms of best chance of getting it replaced over a decent warranty period still think the Ozito beats most in the bargain price range, though.

  • I've gone through 2 bags on cheap vlowe vacs, they over time just disintegrate. Is there a suggested way to store them to prevent this? They were outdoors, not in direct sun or rain, will have to keep indoors to prevent from falling to pieces I think. Only using it for dry leaves!

  • use a vacuum

    • I use an old Dyson barrel vacuum cleaner and it works quite well for sucking up leaves etc. The biggest complaint is the small storage capacity. I don't expect it to last forever like this, but it has been going strong for a few years.

New Dyson balls are hopeless though due to the lack of prefilter on the motor. They will die very quickly being used like this and will require a new motor.

Don't even bother with Dyson stick vacuums for outdoor work. They are completely unsuitable for the task.

I have this blower and it's decent. Had it for about 2 years and mainly use it as a vacuum during autumn.
Works well at mulching leaves and sticks.

  • What is the usual price?

  • Anyone tried to use one for drying a car after washing? Just curious if it has the blower capacity to :)

I use two cordless ozito blowers to do this instead.
This corded one is a bit heavy to lift up to dry the car and it has wheels on the bottom of the blower tube.

It is plenty powerful enough but just not ergonomic to lift up that high to dry the car
