This deal is back and cheaper than before which makes it an excellent choice for a <$1000 budget gaming laptop. You can also add an additional 2.5" SSD/HDD for extra storage.

People have noted that the screen isn't the best quality in this laptop, but given the low price there has to be a write off somewhere.

if this was the 6gb 1060 i'd get it

    • Agree but I guess it's okay for less than $1000 and prefer this over a dedicated graphics card

3GB should be fine for any game at 1080p with AO disabled, FXAA and medium or high draw distance/texture quality. Rest of the settings you can max out.

    • For me I would buy it if it had a USB-C port ;)

  • Is the ram upgradeable in an extra slot? Thanks.

      8GB DDR4 (1 x 8GB, 2 x slots) …. so yes?

    • Yes

  • Sick deal

  • Do they provide tax invoice for TRS?

    • Should do. You can always ask if they don't.

  • How does this compare to say Dell G3 3579

    i7 8th gen with 4GB graphics card? for $1143.2

Is the extra $200 worth it?

Very comparable. GTX 1060 3GB still beats the GTX 1050Ti 4GB.

1060 3GB (1152 CUDA cores, or 9 SMs) should greatly outperform the 1050 Ti (768 CUDA cores, or 6 SMs) in games. While performance doesn't necessarily scale linearly with the amount of cores / SMs, it is useful as a guide to relative performance potential. Given the difference between 3gb vs 4gb in VRAM isn't huge, the 1060 3GB should win out.

While the G3's CPU is significantly better than the Asus, the GPU will generally be your limiting factor in most games. This means that again, the Asus should perform better at a lower price.

  • Hey just wondering if anyone knows how long they to restock once sold out. Slept too long and missed out!

    • Sorry, no. End of life model given the 1060 in there, so there won't be any more.
