  • Got these cameras last week. Worth it, great video quality

  • +1

    Crappy nighttime video though.

    • I didn't end up buying because of how truly CR@P nighttime performance is.

It was so bad that I felt the Arlo Pro 2 is a joke.

  • Netgear does not have a great record with security.

  • Also got these cameras on another deal via bunnings and absolutely amazing video quality. Make sure you buy the Pro 2. I have four running wireless with one camera placed where even my phone doesnt get wifi.

    • +1

I have these and the Ultra 4K Arlo's, when streaming locally the Ultra's are better with a much better field of view (180 vs 130 degrees). These Pros 2's are still good value for money though.

      • Yeah if I could afford it, I would have gone 4k too. This was right there at the top of my range at $750 for 4.

        • +1

downside is after 1 year you need to pay for cloud storage on the ultras while alro pro 2 still has 7 days free storage

          • @Poor Ass: yes but I was already paying for the Elite smart subscription because I need it to view all my 16 cams. But yes Arlo has become more greedy with subscriptions for the Ultra lineup.

  • Tempted to try these cameras. Newbie question: Does it matter whether we are using ADSL or NBN when using these cameras? Or do they rely on the wifi modem speeds to communicate with the "hub" and so internet speeds become irrelevant?

    • +1

Cameras communicate with the hub wirelessly without internet and the hub is plugged into the modem or you can plug the hub into a wifi extender.

Internet speed become relevant when the hub uploads the videos to the arlo storage on the cloud but they eventually get there. You also need internet to check live feed on your phone which accesses the hub.

But if you are not too fussed about using your phone or website to check cloud storage, you can also put a memory card on the hub and manually check footage without internet access.

As long as the hub is connected to the modem some how it would be safe no matter the internet speed.

I have the original Arlo camera and on ADSL which I get very bad upload 100kb/s and 800kb/s download and works fine… 7 days footage all on the cloud

      • Thanks for sharing, Charuzu!

  • i'm waiting for a good deal with the 3 cameras. this is a good price for four

    • +1

get the 4 pack you won't regret it. it's like $184.00 a camera and if you don't need the 4th one sell it on ebay. each camera goes for minimum $250 so you can earn some money if you want.

      • thanks

  • +2

anyone know for sure that we can get the $200 cashback through them? just coz on their website Computer Alliances isn't listed..

    • +2

Yes, they have us in the "other" category, much to our annoyance!

      • +1

        hi Store rep.

you are not on the list of participating retailers on the arlo campaign website:

        only the following are authorised:

        Participating Retailers

The below are names of participating retailers:

        Retailer Name

        Bing Lee
        Bunnings
        Costco
        Device Deal
        Harvey Norman
        JB Hi-Fi
        KS Computers
        Kogan
        Officeworks
        The Good Guys
        Wireless1

Can you please explain this situation?

        • +1

T&Cs also say eBay purchases not valid? Or will we get a direct Computer Alliance invoice?

  • Anyone got a suggestion for alternatives if I don't need the wireless option?

Can you piece together a better solution using Poe setups for example??

  • +1

Any chance of more stock becoming available Rep?

    • This, please.

      • +1

Ordered more to be here probably Monday, manually set them back up on ebay so can be bought within the deal period.

        • Thank you!

  • These are all very nice and apart from the known limitations seem like a good compromise.

But what brands/models is something with equivalent value (ease of use, quality, cloud, "smart" features) but PoE rather than wireless/battery?

I'd expect a PoE system to be substantially cheaper for the same I.Q and features - obviously somewhat offset by PoE switch, UPS etc…

  • Bing Lee has 3 camera sets for around $600

  • Can anyone post the cashback link please? Thanks.

  • @Store Rep: Can we pick it up from the Computer Alliance store as I literally drive past it on the way home each day

  • so 100% you can get your cashback? previous question wasnt answered.

  • Select "other" for retailers when claiming the rebate (a irritation for us, they forgot to add us in the list when it started and added the "other" option after it started just for us apparently).

Note this is the last day of the rebate but you get 14 days after it finishes to claim based on your invoice date. Please do not ask for invoices to be emailed immediate after you order, they ship with the package - if someone thats missing, message us after you receive

We do not automatically invoice when a order is placed. All orders are checked to reduce issues like compatibility of parts bought together and other details (I really wish people knew how to type their own addresses sometimes!). Once checked by sales staff, they go to our pick and pack areas and are invoiced before being added to shipping manifests. In other words, we sometimes invoice a day or two after the order comes in when out of hours or backlogged. During these sales we work very long hours so invoices might be done at any hour, but with many orders per min coming in on top of our usual load, we do get behind. No pickups over the weekend for couriers so running out of space to store pallets of orders at the moment!

For the Arlos, we will get them all done up till at least 2pm today but after that you will be pushing your luck and additionally we may pull the kits off eBay to reduce issues with invoices dated tomorrow. Please get order in before 2pm!

    • Ordered one on Ebay before 2 pm …. Thanks Rep for the tip.

  • +1

its past 2pm. too late to order and get an invoice?

  • ordered last night, cheers,
