  • What is the major difference between this and the Acer Predator X34P?

    • Not much if you have the 120hz version of the Acer.
The base looks slightly less edgy and gamery on this?

    • Acer has speakers and gamma controls. Dell has better warranty and quality control. Overwise basically the same.

      • I was reading online reviews and apparently with the latest X34P's Acer has done a good job with QC, not many complaints from people.

    • Had Acer X34P for a while now, such premium monitor with joystick control and better than average speaker, I am sure the alien one is just as nice, but th question is is it worth the almost 400? You can probably get a not too bad QHD monitor for that price difference

  • bought this last time it was on sale - its an excellent gaming monitor. my only negative feedback is that the base is massive. Needed to get a monitor arm just so it wasnt too close to my keyboard (given its screen size)

    • Same.

You can use your desk again without the stand.

Arm also allows better height IMO but ymmv.

    If only it was 144hz

Eh… you are talking about the king of all WQHD displays here.

On a resolution of 3440 x 1440, there are no other IPS displays available that will surpass 120hz.

Plus to be getting a FPS of up to that level, not even a 2080ti would do it running ultra settings at that resolution.

      • LG 950 series are the new kings of 34" ultrawides. NanoIPS, 144Hz native IPS. Now if LG would just let us buy them here..

        • Yep, looks like what we have been waiting for. But people have been saying we are not going to see either the G-sync of Freeview versions. Could be a load of crap, and just the normal living at the end of the earth thing, and it may turn up eventually. I think at least one Ozbargainer has bought one from the USA.

The difference between 120 and 144 isn't much and this is not a strong competitve gaming monitor in the first place.

      • Ugghhh I got negged a lot for suggesting such a little difference once… and there isn't.

Not to mention as above, no GPU will output at 144hz on this resolution at anything remotely modern anyway….

        • It is a big investment and most people would be hoping to use it for many years. GPU's will get faster, and depending on the game you can wind back settings anyway. The new models also have other improvements. This is why we are seeing the current crop all getting discounted.

          • @Major Mess: Is there a new Alienware Ultrawide coming out?
