More often than not, the 20% sales are worse than 10% off sales eBay wide.

10% discount is funded by eBay while the 20% sale are co-funded, 5% by eBay and 15% by Seller.

Most eBay store subscribers don't have 15% net margin in highly competitive categories. They have to jack up prices to participate in the 20% sale that drive the traffic.

I bought one refurbished laptop with decent specs from Dell Outlet for $350 while identical refurb unit was listed as $420 in Dell eBay store.

While I agree with you, I'd like to point out that this is not an excuse for illegal price jacking. Nobody is forcing these sellers to sign up for the 20% promo.

      • +1

I'm sure these sellers will give you plenty of sob stories why they were 'forced' to do this.
Given how little ebay cares about this and the other forms of scamming on their site - all easily auto-checkable by their software - I'm hoping there's an alternative to ebay coming soon.

  • Damn they don't have Huawei P30s in stock. Mobiciti do have it for the 10% site wide deal.

    Let's try this out.

    Apple iPad 2018 A1954 9.7" WiFi + Cellular 128GB - Space Grey - $639

  • Dell New Inspiron 13 7380 vs xps 13 9360, which one is better for programming/work?

    • XPS 13 has better build quality and longer battery life but only one USB-A port which you may find annoying. It does have two Thunderbolt 3 ports that the Inspiron 13 lacks and they both have a USB-C 3.1 port.

  • where's the cheapest iphone xr 128gb these days?

    • doesnt JB have a $320 off deal on atm?

  • Just looked at an XPS13 (9360) i7-8550U with 16Gb RAM and 512Gb SSD.

This is on Dell eBay at $1679 which is $2099 less the 20%.

Checked on the Dell website and what seems to be the exact same device is listed at $2079.

Unless I am mistaken somehow, there is at least one thing that has not been jacked.

    • Dell don't usually jack. But they strategically avoid ebay 20% off sales in concert with sales running on their own site.

Or if they decide to be part of an ebay sale while a site sale is on, they use a code for the site to get the discounted price. That way they can say the price is still the full price on their site. It only gets discounted with a code, but unfortunately you can't use that code on ebay.

Sometimes you get lucky and the discount on their site does not require a code, so the discounted price carries through to their ebay listing. But you won't find that on highly desired items like XPS laptops.

Just got the moto G7 plus for $399 with free delivery with ebay plus trial from allphones.

Allphones is great. Bought their Samsung Galaxy Watch Active yesterday morning for 20% off ($279 without shipping), received it this morning! Quite like the watch too. Seems like a good deal?

  • Unifi products all cheaper with Computer Alliance, don't bother with Sydneytec

  • Damn, didn't realise this deal ends at 5pm, not the usual 12am.
