By the way you need the Smarter kit to make it work with google home app. Turn it on by voice. Set it to turn on say when it rains to a rain light pattern say or a certain time. The Rhythm set add on module allows the light to be reactive to noise. The expansion packs are only add on panels as someone has already reviewed(heard of research before buying), so will not link up with google home app.

If there are lower prices on the google product elsewhere assume they will price match. Try price match google mini to Officework $68. If you already have a google home speaker get the mini as that can be link to play music the same music through that for another room and combo it with the Nanoleaf.

  • You say "By the way you need the Smarter kit to make it work with google home app".

So, I need another device, on top of these lights and a Google Home (or similar device)?

    • JB are having a promotion where if you get the google home device you can also get a 20% discount off a compatible device to work with your google home. If you were thinking of getting either it's an ok deal. The panel discount is good($22 per panel), but the google device price may be found better elsewhere, but assume JB will price match a cheaper stocked store item.

Some one brought just the expansion lights pack. Well they wont work by themselves unless you already purchased the smart kit. The expansion pack doesn't come with the power adapter or controller. The expansion pack is just panels. The reviewer negged the expansion pack.

This seems like a major waste of money..

You do with your money what you will. The price point of these things are getting better. If its not for you its not for you.

      • Yes, for the same reason (most) people don't just have a bare light bulb to light up a room. Lighting is a big part of interior design.

I have a set of these, which I paid closer to $300 for, so your deal is indeed a bargain. With the rhythm module positioned near the speaker, and a nice theme set, it enhances both the room appearance and the music.

        • Seems nice if you want to turn your home into a disco…

That said if you compare these to lighting options at Beacon Lighting it's actually quite cheap. I'm still unsure about the aesthetic for a home situation, however if you run a business or an internet Cafe a wall of these things would be wow!

If you buy this you're legit (profanity) retarded.

Plus from me. I have no use for these, but clearly the poster has posted an item they have actually purchased and used.
It seems most posts on OzB. these days are people finding something that might be remotely cheaper, and just post it, without any plans on purchasing, or even having used the item before.
    So thanks.

That's a valuable service, though. Some people bargain hunt for the thrill of it then "throw the fish back".

      No complaints from me!

I'm sure we have all brought bargains on here and wondered why we brought it and they are probably cheap items that are taking up space. Just read on another post someone had brought a jacket and has never worn it. I randomly turn my light on. Its entertaining when you have guest over that don't know what the Google home can do. Just a bit of fun and feature in the house.

  • Buy an overpriced Google Home mini and we’ll give you a tiny discount on some expensive lights. Not a good deal. Google home mini is worth $40 so essentially you’re saving $15 when spending $275. Not worth an upvote

As with all things it seems on OZB. The low price is only effective at certain times for short periods at their lowest price. This combo as mentioned is only worth it for someone interested in both or similar compatible item with the Google home. The panel price is at the lowest price of recent times. Having to pay more for the mini does counter the saving. Still a saving. If the mini is stocked in store for $40 JB will price match, but doubt there is one that low out there in legit store that they would match.

Maybe you can post a current Google home mini right now for $40 delivered.

  • Cool looking lights that would be great for my son's room. However, isn't the effect spoilt by the cable that then needs to run to a socket? Plus it is pretty expensive. A cheaper version of this from yeelight with a battery pack would be amazing.

    • Depending on how you set up the lights. You don't really see the cable as its white and matches the wall. See my pictures. have it at bottom close behind the TV. your eyes aren't drawn to the cables, but the light display. Yeah great for a kids room. Night light. You can change the brightness and obviously many patterns.

    • I hid my cable in the wall cavity.

  • Someone's had fun with the tags on your photo links OP.

Also I'm glad the Nanoleaf is getting more mainstream. I like lighting ideas like this, and encourage epic battlestations!

    • Lol indeed they have xD

    • LOL. I didn't realise the tags. HaHa. Was trying to find a free picture share sight. The ads on the tinypic are not office friendly.

  • $74 for a google home mini is high especially since ($69 or $79) at aldi gets you the 2 pack google home minis

    • They're usually free.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OP-oEbzB6g Make your own with a 3D printer and led strip lights

  • i remember there are an alternative brand but basically knock off of this. can't really remember the brand. looks almost the same. i cant them anywhere now.

coz this are super expensive, and that time i saw the alternative and the price, it gives me a big impression.
