IKEA Alarm Clock $0.99

790

Was just searching around for alarm clocks and found this on IKEA.

Being IKEA, if you wanted a simple alarm clock, this <$1 item definitely beats those $1-$2 eBay ones from Hong Kong and China in terms of quality if you prefer analogue rather than digital.

No online orders? Well, good luck trying to find it inside their monstrous store with only one long and winding asile…

But that's half the fun, you can lose your kids there and go have a slice of princess cake and coffee and then put out an alert for them when you are rested.

      Just kidding, of course. :)

      • Kidding about the princess cake and coffee or kidding about the alert?

        • +14

          kidding about having kids

      (watch from 2:25 about ikea)

  • agree. It's nice and cheap.

  • wow that's cool(reference to IKEAS stock availability)
you can check how much of that product is at your nearest store!

    • yeah, that's one thing that i like about IKEA, i don't have to bother spending 10 minutes calling them and asking for stock and can make sure there's stock before driving 40 minutes to get to my closest IKEA store.

Also, last time i checked, there is a feature online that tells you which aisle number etc to go to to find the product that you are looking for. Can't seem to find it on this clock but when I was checking out one of their tables, I was able to find the exact location at my closest store, so that was helpful :)

I'm going to buy 100 of these and hide them all around my friend's house, all set to go off at 4am.

Yeah, I'm a bit of a jerk like that.

    • i am buying 100 of these and set them to go off at random intervals ….

      • +1

I'm setting all the clocks in the store to go off at random intervals.

Why spend $99 when you can get the fun for free?

        • Ah so you're the guy I saw today taking a pack of AA cells to the clock shelves. :)

        • +3

          nope!
i believe he was the guy taking the batteries out of the clocks and placing them in his pocket ;)

      • We did that for muck up day one year XD .At the library.

  • +13

they have the exact same ones in kmart for $1 as well

    • Kmart is much closer! Thank you!

    • +3

Ah, well at least theres more than three stores in the country that have stock then.

The RUSCH wall clock also looks good at $2.99 http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/70023692

Is it my eyes, or is the border not round?

      • Your eyes are not round. :) Looks like some cut and paste actually.

    • this one is specially pathetic the background sticker with numbers will come off by itself after few weeks and it becomes useless.

  • Cant afford it

Hang around Jean-Baptiste's friend's place, he'll be throwing out a lot of them. More around slowmo's friend's place also.

      • +2

I suggest you hang around outside his place at about 4am, and if you're lucky you might be able to catch one when they are thrown out the various windows of the house

  • Assuming these are the same as the ones at Kmart they are good value with only 1 problem - the noisy ticking. As a result it had to go in the bedside table drawer.

    • lol an analouge clock making a ticking sound that's funny, who would have thought?

      • +2

Read the post - NOISY ticking!

        • -1

what do you expect for a dollar, a precision ultra quiet mechanism?

        • Agree ticking is louder than most other clocks. Also no light or glow at night so have to turn on the light at night if you want to read time.

    • +7

Easy to find. Was in IKEA Rhodes today and was in out 10 mins including parking. They had a whole box at least a few hundred of them in a bin.

Got a couple. Just to let you know they are not the silent type. You can hear them go noisy ticking when in use. So no good in bedroom if you want to sleep.

      • These are great for work; the ticking noise will keep you awake. Good for meetings aswell

        • maybe it will make people hurry up and speed up meeting because they will be more conscious about time.

    • +9

This should make them easy to find in the IKEA store - just walk in the entry and follow the ticking noise.

they have had these for a while, friend bought them for her wedding…its the regular price.

    • I am not really into weddings, so perhaps I am missing something. Why would you need them for a wedding?!

      • good cheap bonbonnieres had a little quip about "time" on them.

    the HUNDSTOL was better

y do you have to link HK and China together?

They are wayyyyy different… HK is a lot more advanced than China! trust me!

and basically HK doesnt produce clock, but china, so what u can see out there saying "made in china" are really made in CHINA not HK

    • OP is not linking HK and China together. He/She is merely pointing out these are better built than those you can get from ebay HK/China for a dollar or two. Even if OP does relate HK to China, I can't see anything wrong with it.

    • +1

I bet this is Made In China as well.

On a side note, HK doesn't manufacture shit these days, all of their manufacturing facilities had moved to DongGuan (somewhere in Canton) in the 80's and early 90's.

because the cheap ones are generally from hong kong and china. do you see any cheap $1 clocks from america or europe on ebay.com.au?

the cheapest with an ebay search of "alarm clock", New Only and In Australia Only came up with all these cheap $2.80 (including shipping) clock bracelet charms and this one which $8.80: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fantastic-Trip-Color-Changing-LED…

So you tell me, where are the cheap electronics generally bought? even if we were talking about purchasing electronics generally, i would automatically tell you to go to hong kong or china if you were on your way for a holiday…it's not like i'd say go to america (okay, maybe now for apple products, but for most electronics, still not), UK or france to buy an electronic item…you'd probably find yourself a bargain in hong kong/china for the exact same product.

    • +1

      Hong Kong is IN China!

When will people stop thinking a region inside a country is better than the country it's in.

  • +6

Damn, now if only they had another 'pay with what you ate' deal. So I could eat $100 worth of ikea food and then buy up ~100 clocks :P

    • Do you have to assemble the food yourself?

      • +3

No, it works differently for food. Its 'pre-assembled' and you convert it to segments of bricks.

        • Thank you for the lovely imagery Spaceninja. I wish I could use that clock to turn back time and unread that.

  • +3

Decided to check out the Ikea website to see availability in Adelaide..turns out it's $0.95 instead of the full $0.99, I think the extra saving is worth it…

  • The price is really sweet, but the appereance is reall ugly…
