Aiwa Internet DAB+ Bluetooth Radio AMS-330 $129 @ Target

40

This DAB/FM/Internet radio has a huge number of features and can even be controlled by an App (Apple or Android).
Sound quality is ok, although it is obviously not HiFi in any sense. This radio is ideal for people wanting to listen to their favourite overseas (or interstate) radio stations. The list of stations is huge, and no subscriptions or similar are required.

Very Important: When configuring it, be sure to update the software right after you've connected it to your WiFi access point. After the update you'll find that everything works just fine.

  • Um price in title and is it the cheapest around?

    • Don’t know , but you can buy it off ebay for $125 using code.

    • Is this actually discounted or the normal price??

Aiwa was my favourite portable cassette player brand back in 1990..

    • They got bought up by Sony, and pretty sure they haven't been around since ages. They probably sold the name.

  • In the context of previous deals on dab radios ($10, $20 or so) this seems expensive.

This looks ok to me as a product (very very similar to a lot of other internet radios that are available, all with the same features).
But the price doesn't seem to be discounted?, and other options are similarly priced.

DAB/FM radios are cheaper; this is also an internet radio so not directly comparable to those.

  • Below similar product. I have below and find the speaker great.

Not similar; that only has DAB/FM, not Internet.

      • Opps. My bad.

  • will the bluetooth work for output to the headset/headphone?

    • No, but if it has an aux output (check!), you could plug a bluetooth transmitter (not more common bluetooth receiver), into that, and connect your headphones that way.

      Extra information -
If intending to leave transmitter permanently in place and powered-on, buy one that doesn't contain a battery, as they eventually balloon.
Search 'avantree' to get sense of ones with best features - more applicable for TV/streaming-video/gaming (aptX type must have match on headphones used for those specific features to work - otherwise just works as regular bluetooth).
Work back through other brands with any non-battery models, on Amazon and eBay,for cheaper and perfectly well-suited to just plugging into a radio. You will find something!

  • I believe this runs the same internals as the now discontinued Bush BR320DABC.
Not a great deal of luck finding one for sale today, but they have been known to pop up on eBay and Grey's as clearance items.
Excellent unit, the internet features works fine, can also play audio from the local network, struggles with higher quality FLAC files.
Got mine for ~ $70 delivered.

If i ever see a qty of these for sale again i'll be sure to post.

    • I agree; I have the same Bush model and love it, although it doesn't seem to like ABC News Radio (is that the FLAC files issue?).
I paid a similar price, but they are rare now.

    • I believe this runs the same internals as the now discontinued Bush BR320DABC

Could do, though probably not. Pretty generic look for both of them, but still a different fascia and also a different screen. This one also looks as if may have a physical remote, instead of just relying on an app.
May well share same proprietary chips for specific internet portal access (and Undok app-compatibility if has that), but dozens of models across otherwise unrelated brands share those.

Anyway, is interesting to see the Aiwa brand again. Sony certainly didn't seem to do much with it.
