  You should also note that even though China Eastern are part of Skyteam, you can credit points and status credit to QFF.

    Yes and No, according to Qantas, you can only get points from China Eastern, no status credit. Also it is very hard to claim credit points if you miss, from my own experience. China Eastern is horrible, IMHO. I transferred at Pudong Airport, the ground crew yelled at me just because her computer got stuck when I checked in.

      I have flown 4 Chinese airlines - Air China, Hainan, China Southern and China Eastern - all ok except CE. I have flown China Eastern twice - 1 domestic and 1 international. On the domestic, my seat didn't recline at all, was like sitting in a kitchen chair. The inflight food was awful.
      On the international flight, the cabin crew was outright racist and sexist to my wife, giving preferential treatment to Chinese male passengers. She even had to ask for her inflight meal as they kept skipping her. It was also the first international flight I have been on where the cabin crew had absolutely no English whatsoever, had to communicate via Google Translate. The seats did recline on the international flight but not by much and were very uncomfortable. The seat had an AC power socket, but for some reason the cabin crew would not allow me to use it for charging my tablet, so that I could watch something to pass the time, the inflight entertainment was terrible. Coming in to land in Sydney, the plane was rocking quite a bit and I was seriously in fear for our lives, culminating in a hard bumpy landing. The only reason I chose this airline was because of visa issues forcing me to leave China in a hurry and it was the first available flight.
      In summary, only fly China Eastern if you are mainland Chinese and can speak Mandarin.

        I flew China southern and passengers were smoking in the toilets throughout the flight . If the smoke alarms go off they didnt seem to care. Or maybe they hadn't changed 9v

  They area partner with Qantas now, I think they will improve with the new A350 out of Sydney which commenced 29th March.

      I was referring to the airline, not the destination. However, personally I would avoid flying to Paris, London or US as there is a good probability you might become collateral damage, but not targeted personally.
