AirAsia Sale Various Incl: Darwin-Bali $120; Perth-KL $244; KL-Bali $46. 1way Travel Now-30sep11

80

I have travelled with AirAsia many times & am happy with them (I'm a seasoned budget traveler - which means I get to travel more if I give up the little luxuries on a flight). Add-ons include seat selection, meals, SIM card, transfers etc - all worthwhile. I have learned that it's best to choose my seat & pay the extra $.
The downside is that it's not all seats on all flights, & you have to be flexible/patient & keep looking for other dates if the specials aren't on the date you hoped for. Flights include airport taxes & fuel surcharge.
It's best to get in quickly with these sales as they can sell out quickly…as I said, flexibility is the key. These sales are ven better when destination is from Melbourne or Gold Coast (AirAsia doesn't depart from Sydney).
Happy Holidays!

  • noob post; so if you want to go to BKK, you'd have to first go to darwin, then bali, then BKK?

    • From my understanding AirAsia are based in KL and that is their main hub - most, if not every, destination they fly to you can get there from KL.

Basically fly to KL and enjoy cheap flights to the rest of Asia!

    • That depends on where in Australia you are departing from.

If from Gold Coast, Melbourne, or Perth, you goto KUL on AirAsiaX, then to BKK on AirAsia/Thai AirAsia. A "Fly-Thru" connection is available on these routes, so your luggage goes straight onto the next plane without you needing to check in again.

If you are from Darwin, you can goto DPS on Indonesia AirAsia, then to BKK on Thai AirAsia.

If you are from any other city, you have to make way to one of the above mentioned Australian cities, then continue on the route as mentioned.

  • Teeo….Datty is correct..you fly into Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia (I have never had to get a Visa for this - even if I'm staying, but check because the rules do change) which is a major hub - then to Bali or Phillipines or China or UK or bangladesh or thailand etc. I have flown from KL to Cambodia for $20. I have also flown to KL from Melbourne for $80 in one of their sales…just need to watch out for them - they have an email list. I hope this helps. (PS: I may be noob at Ozbargains, but I'm not a noob when it comes to travel and bargains :)

    • +1

I managed to book my whole holiday using AirAsia's last sale lol

I got Mel - KL, KL - Singapore, Singapore - Phuket, Phuket - BKK, BKK - HK, HK - KL, KL - Mel for $1200 for 2 people.

A shame the travel period for this sale isn't convenient for me otherwise I would have booked another trip.

      • thanks for your comments datty :)
what an amazing trip you had! and well done for orchestrating it so well and getting the best out of the fares..I reckon it feels better when you save loads of money! some of my friends still won't book their own flights online…they spend soooo much more on travel tho.
