Samsung 55" 4K UHD Smart TV NU8000 $967.50 shipped @ Powerlandau eBay

350
PEARL

Was just about to link a mate to the JB deal for $1095, and thought I'd do a quick eBay search as I knew the PEARL deal was active.
Great price for this TV, $967.50 shipped, which seems to be the cheapest for this set in recent times.

Seems only 5 available.

  • $123.60 shipping to Perth metro.

    • Hmm that sucks. I'm in Brisbane and it's showing as free express delivery.

  • Free delivery to Melbourne Metro.
I don't need it, just tested the code ;-)

  • good tv, wish there was a 65" on sale.

I bought this one from JB for $1498 delivered. Very happy.

Not the best price (which was around $1350 delivered from eBay) but you can't always get the best price I suppose…I know that's not the Ozb way but sometimes life is too short to worry about money :).

        • 55 or 65?

          • @nick111: 65" model

            • @BugsBunnyAUS: that's a very good price for 65 as JB has it for $1695 online as of now

              • @nick111: Correct, I thought so! I wasn't going to pay that though! If only I had access to 5% off gift cards it would've been better!

  • This or hisense 55 P7 ? Hisense has 3 years warranty and samsung only 1…

    • +1

      nu8000 all the way

      • Question, can you elaborate on why?
Looking at just the tech specs the Hisense seems like the better TV on paper

        • Not all 4k TVs are created equal. When I went in store, the hisense suffered terribly from backlight bleeding. Its colours were washed out and bluish. Samsung is the opposite, brilliant and vibrant display, amazing contrast. Samsung has the better software and motion performance, plus it's operating system is second to none.

  • NU8000 or RU8000? Just confused if anyone has experienced the difference.
    Cheers

    • From what I have worked out the difference is purely software based. The RU looks to have more going for it but of course is more expensive.

      • Thank you.

        • +2

Audio has been downgraded from 2.1CH(40W) on the NU8000 to 2CH(20W)
Wifi has also been downgraded from 2.4GHz/5GHz (802.11ac) to 2.4Ghz (802.11n)

Most people have a soundbar so the audio downgrade may not be that big an issue
Unless picture quality is a lot better, the NU8000 is still the better buy imo especially at their current prices which as continually dropping

    • NU8000 = 2018 model
      RU8000 = 2019 model

Generally speaking NU8000 should be in clearance mode, whilst you'll be paying a premium on RU8000 given it's "new". Am personally waiting to see if there's another opportunity to get a 65" NU8000 for that $1500 pricepoint.

      • I want to get the NU8000 but was planning to hold out for the end of financial year sales. Do you think there would still be stock around by then?

        • +2

          No way at all.

dzf - I got the 65" NU8000 from JB on Saturday at that price. Go in and have a go.

@BugsBunnyAUS: Thank you for the reply! Looks like I'm grabbing this one

          • @BugsBunnyAUS: thx for the confirmation!

went to a JB Chadstone on Friday and the salesperson said they couldn't do it lower than $1610 even after I told them I was aware it had been under $1500 recently.

i shall perhaps need to try a quieter store that may be more keen to make a sale.

  • The redemption codes have never worked for me for tv's. Is it because I live in Perth?

    • I am not sure. The redemption code worked for me when they had the $200 cashback.. Something to do with football.. It took a while thought but it did come through.

As a fellow WA resident… it's always because of Perth… sigh… It's hard to do OzBargain from Perth…

  • Isn't there a rule about stock levels being above 5?

    • Yep its supposed to be 10. Feel free to report.

  • The brochures for the Samsung 8k's have come out today in the paper in Adelaide today. I will need to take another look to see if there is much difference between 4k and 8k. The last 8k I looked at was the Sharp in Tokyo and I couldn't really tell the difference. What relevence is this comment? I am wondering how much cheaper the 4k's will drop now that the 8k Samsung is almost out.

At 8 thousand for the 65 inch 8k, we will see how low the prices will drop on 4k. Side by side, the 4k demo's in Tokyo matched the quality of the 8k and I don't know why. It could have been the media. This is the issue in Australia, 8k hasn't the media.
So back to this TV, under a grand for a good model Samsung 55 at 4k, if you have a smallish room then this hits the mark. A good buy and don't jump too soon on the 8k. I hope this makes some sense. I think I have ranted too much. I have installed the 7100 series at work of this TV and it was fantastic, 4k at 55 inch would be even better quality.

  • Maybe comparing apples and oranges. But this samsung or the panasonic fz950 55??

    • +1

      FZ for sure

  • Code not working for me for some reason =(
