    120 lumen…

After a quick look thinking something like this would be better (provided the fixed solar panel would still suit).

Cheaper, double the brightness, and radar sensor might be more reliable than PIR.

    • I have something similar (actually three) of these link They are Super bright (no lumen rating I can find) and good sensor. Solar panel is in the same location as the light so not equivilat to the OP but worth of consideration IMO. I have been runnign this for 2 years with no issues.

These things are unreliable, what happens when the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow, then what, that's why we should invest in clean coal, give me coal powered lights.. lol

Instead of trying to find clean coal, wouldn't it be better to invest in a small backyard nuclear reactor?

Breeder reactors for now are smart.
They use 'Old Generation' waste to pull more fission out of it.
We're then left with more inert waste than previously.

Still not good, but a good step better.

This would be great for Australias, because we're paid to mine\sell uranium.
We are then paid to 'dispose' of their waste.
We then turn it into 'free' Energy.

We than have a much more Inert waste than previously, and plenty of non-inhabitable land that I'm sure even some of our 'native land owners' won't object to being used as sealed storage.

It's not like we'd be dumping on the ground :P

    • Depending how often you walk past them, most of the security lights work for about 3 days.

Being an amorphous panel, ANY visible light can become energy to charge it, you don't need direct sun.

With an upgrade to NiMH batteries (available cheap from IKEA) I've used mine for up to a week before I needed to connect the solar panel again.

I use them as indoor 'free' house lighting.

  • Cheers. I grabbed a couple to light up the front door and the steps leading up to it. I've tried some cheaper all in one units but no good due to tree coverage Remote solar panel should do the trick.

  • Bought one from innaloo WA for 25 last Sunday… was marked clearance.
Appears to work well.. not super bright but enough for my use for the front door..
