3 to 4 nuts per day is max you should be eating.
    Very healthy for prostate.

    •

      why only 3 - 4?

Apparently they are incredibly high in selenium.

        •

(68-91 mcg per nut), recommended no more than 400mcg daily for adults.

Getting too much selenium over time can cause the following:

          Garlic breath
          Nausea
          Diarrhea
          Skin rashes
          Irritability
          Metallic taste in the mouth
          Brittle hair or nails
          Loss of hair or nails
          Discolored teeth
          Nervous system problems

  •

Dad ate a number of these in one go (before he knew about selenium risk) and was nauseous, delirious and vomiting all night. Next day he was fine.

He’s now an expert on Brazil nuts and selenium poisoning after watching and referencing an episode of House under the same circumstances.

  •

When they are half price, chances are the expiry date is not too far.

Does anyone actually like the taste of Brazil nuts? I would say compared to peanuts, almonds, cashews etc. they aren’t very enjoyable (to me).

We need 40 people to put their hand up for 500g each

  •

    don't really like brazil nuts

  •

Other than by way of Laz167 above, little mention of the fun facts beyond the Selenium issue.

Beyond something from backyard vegetable patch in Fukushima (or a three-eyed fish from Lake Springfield), Brazil Nuts are the most radioactive food you will ever eat. 1000x most other food, handful in pocket will reputedly trigger radiation alarms in a nuclear facility.
If nothing else, some fun trivia to know! :)

They are $22/kg at Aldi. Come in a 400g pack I believe.

Don't eat them too high in fat, they are 66 grams of fat per 100g almost as bad as butter 80grams.

    •

Fat from nuts is actually quite healthy. It's animal fats you should generally avoid. Of course, this still contains a lot of energy, so if you go… nuts… eating these, prepare for health problems.

    •

How much protein you getting in your butter?

  •

You better be able to finish before November

  •

    20KG?

  •

ahh shucks. I was in the market for 21 kilos. Guess I will have to pass.

    •

It's for a church, honey. NEXT!!!
