AirPods With Wireless Charging Case (Gen 2)

More magical than ever.
The new AirPods — complete with Wireless Charging Case — deliver the wireless headphone experience, re-imagined. Just pull them out of the case and they’re ready to use with your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.

After a simple one-tap setup, AirPods work like magic. They’re automatically on and always connected. AirPods can even sense when they’re in your ears and pause when you take them out.

To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, simply say “Hey Siri” and make your request. You have the freedom to wear one or both AirPods, and you can play or skip forward with a double tap when listening to music or podcasts.

Charge your AirPods quickly and easily with the Wireless Charging Case. Just set the case down on a Qi-compatible charging mat and let it charge. The LED indicator on the front of the case lets you know that your AirPods are charging. And when you’re away from a charging mat, you can use a Lightning connector to charge.

AirPods deliver five hours of listening time and three hours of talk time on a single charge. And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a Wireless Charging Case that holds multiple charges for more than 24 hours of listening time. Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you three hours of listening time or two hours of talk time.

Powered by the all-new Apple H1 headphone chip, AirPods use optical sensors and motion accelerometers to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the H1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional speech-detecting accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out external noise and focus on the sound of your voice.

Thanks op. My toothbrush head is getting a bit old

    • +8

a bit like your joke, eh? ;)

  • +2

The extra for the wireless charging case is well worth it

    • How so? Been contemplating for ages

      • The convenience of not looking for a cable everytime !

        • +5

Every time as in once a week for a normal user. They last 24hrs with case. That’s pretty good for someone that only listens a couple hrs a day.

      • The convenience of charging without a lightning cable… i use qi wireless charger so no need to carry around lightning cable

  • +2

Purchased. Thanks OP. Pretty sure this is best price so far

  • I’m still deciding which one to get i don’t have a wireless charging mat. Can you use these airpods with any phone with Bluetooth or does it have to be an iphone? Also how much is a wireless charging mat to charge these airpods? Tia.

    • +2

you can, whatever devices has bluetooth support.
my daughter is using it for macpro; dell PC and phone

      • +1

So except for the wireless charging case which can charge on a wireless mat. The charging case ones can do everything else that the wireless charging case ones can do?

    • +1

you can pair with any phone with bluetooth, and charging mat really depends on brand/quality you get, it does vary a bit.

    • +1

If you already have a phone that supports wireless charging and you have a wireless charger definitely go the wireless ones

      • +1

I have a iPhone X but i don’t have a wireless charger that’s why i’m deciding which airpods to get. Can anyone recommend a good cheap wireless charger? So if i go for the wireless charging case airpods i can charge my phone and airpods wirelessly. I’ve seen the Cygnett qi white 10w wireless charger for $59 down from $79 on the Telstra website. Is that charger any good?

        • -1

I have got this one for my iPhone X and I am extremely happy with it. It never overheats, despite leaving it all night.

Before buying this one, I bought a cheap one for $6 and it overheats all the time so I would definitely not recommend using cheaper versions for $1.5k phone.

    • Also, to manage your expectations: it's not going to be a "charging mat", you'll most probably get a wireless charger, one device at a time, and it's not necessarily like you just casually toss your device onto it and it charges.

  • HN refused to match coz it is not advertised online!!! First time.

    • Try another HN store.

    • Try jb

  • Would a local Telstra store price match?

    • Wondering too

    • +1

      No, Online only

    • +12

      and that's a stupid comment

      • -7

And also doesn't include wireless charging pad. Clap clap

        • +1

I’m sorry, find me one manufacturer which bundles a wireless charging pad with their headphones?

          • @epicttiimm: Find me a manufacturer who charge $50+ for a wireless charging upgrade.

            • +3

              @MagicMushroom: Here ya go: B&O H8 2.0

              50USD over V1 (~$70)
135USD to buy the wireless charging case alone (~$190)

They don’t bundle a wireless pad with their headphones as well just in case you were wondering. And they charge $450 for a pair…….

              • -4

@epicttiimm: Hmmm why are you comparing earphone to a headphone? I thought you made a mistake when you said headphone.

                • +1
                  • @epicttiimm: I don't see them offering wireless charging and non wireless charging case in the same generation.

                    • @MagicMushroom: qi isn’t the cheapest thing to put into devices. It’s the consumer’s choice whether they value the wireless charging at an extra $50, but the premium covers a number of things - additional R&D (rereleasing the same case as the last generation is always going to be cheaper); the cost of parts; building tooling for a lower yield.
Consumers are also happy to pay a premium to have the “best” version of a product. If you’re personally unhappy with the additional cost, or can’t justify the price of a product for the additional benefit/use you will get, don’t buy it.

  • +1

Actually bit the bullet and bought one X|
I have been looking for a cheaper alternative for a week and that was doing my head in.

    Thanks OP.

    • Sometimes you just got to stick to reliability.

  • great deal

  • I placed one but not receive any confirmation email

    • Check your spam/junk folder

      • I only received the email from afterpay, nothing from telstra. I chatted with telstra, they said they can’t find my order under my account :(

        • Any update, same thing as happened to me?

          • +1

@17833: Telstra said please wait for 24 hrs:(

          • @17833: Same here, just called Telstra and they failed to find anything regarding my order.

  • +2

Oh man, I did it! I bit the bullet! I can’t believe that I’m spending so much on earbuds, but I’ve been wanting these for years and couldn’t pass up the wireless charging.

    Any recommendations for good mats?

    • +1

Any will do the job. Battery won’t take long to charge as it’s not exactly huge considering the size of the case.

  • -5

This is not the cheapest price for the Airpods FYI, please check eBay with the 20% off you can get it for 209$

    • +1

If you’re talking about this it’s Gen 1 vs Gen 2. Gen 1 has been as low as $170 so no $209 is not the cheapest as well.

  • -1

Have in mind that Galaxy phones have 0.17 SAR (Samsung has method that is not enforced as standard),
AirPods 0.44 SAR + whole day in Ear (iPhones ~1.17 SAR) RADIATION of max 1.6 (iPhone6 close to max).
Remember that the Max 1.6 SAR is as safe as the Leaded petrol was safe until the 'discovery' it is not.
Better safe than sorry. *Not everybody is sensitive the same way. We have many other wireless radiations: BT, WiFi, 4G,… that add up.

    • +6

Do you have a tinfoil hat that you'd recommend for insulating oneself from wireless radiation?

      • -1

Friendly warning! Prevention is better/cheaper than cure (& works very well 4me).
If companies were Ethical as they say, they would have applied Samsung's method. It's your responsibility to protect your health. I still pay tax for you to go to hospital. Ignorance makes issues worse.
Before peer pressure (4fashion) check your blood pressure ;)

        • +6

The FDA and WHO have found no link between exposure to radiofrequency emitting devices and negative health effects.

          https://www.fda.gov/Radiation-EmittingProducts/ucm116335.htm

You are spreading lies and misinformation.

        • +5

Friendly warning! Prevention is better/cheaper than cure (& works very well 4me).

Only if there is something to prevent.

Below is something I wrote about WiFi in an earlier deal.

Before your say to "wifi is not bluetooth"
A class 1 Bluetooth device can operate at the same maximum power and in the same ISM band as a wifi router which is 100mW or 20dBm at 2.4GHz.

Bluetooth also isn't ionising radiation (which is what you want to avoid).

Light and sound are radiation too…

WiFi is also limited to 100mW of power which travels in every direction, a rough approximation means that about 0.25mW of power is absorbed into your skin/clothes at 5m from the router.

If you were to lay down in the sun you would be getting about 800w of much higher energy radiation (light and IR) - 3.2 million times more than from WiFi.

The human body emits around 100 watts of heat (infrared radiation) so having someone 5 m away form you in a room will cause you to be subject to 1,000 times more radiation than WiFi.

  • Been keen to finely replace my Gen1 after my SO requisitioned mine.

Went for the non-wireless as I don't currently use any wireless charging devices or see myself in going that route in the future.

    • +1

you should consider using wireless sometime, trust me you won't look back.

  • Added to cart.. went to payment.. then it said page could not be found, next second sold out.

  • +1

Anyone with Gen1 AirPod and looking to convert the existing AirPod in wireless, I will recommend this. For $15, you can convert the existing one into wireless.

I have a similar one and its great, only drawback - its painful taking the AirPod case out of this case but since I mostly do wireless charging - it doesn't really affect me. It does add a little bit of bulk but you won't notice after few days of use.

  • I never had much luck with the stock earpods that come with iPhones as they always fall out of my ears. Is it safe to assume these are the same form factor and would fall out also?

    • Yep. Go for say, the xiaomi airdots if you can. $40 RRP. Can put on own tips just like other standard earbuds. They stick in better than apple earbuds do in my experience, although my ears seem to be quite big and push them out over time

  • +1

    No more stock

  • Yep both have sold out

  • Just purchased 2 + 2 separately

    • Ur ethandong from gumtree?

      • sorry I listed them on ebay now
you can wait a 10% discount code on ebay and place the order and then choose to pick it up in Sydney

      • no I am Zhongshu Dong on Gumtree
by the way I have listed them on ebay now
you can wait a 10% discount code on ebay and place the order and then choose to pick it up in Sydney

  • What's the sound quality comparison to the wired pods?

    • Heaps better. Nice clean bass.

    • People say the bass is better, but I got the Airpods 2 on release day after only using wired earpods, I would say sound quality is basically the same, I didn't notice a difference…

      • I must have 3 sets of wired ones that are dodgy…all three sound the same…

zqipz…Our ears hear differently, bear that in mind. For me airpods 2nd gen sound much better.

  • Anyone receive a confirmation email yet?

    • yes
I have got the tax invoice email from Telstra

      • Finally got it after 5 hours :/

        • Do you have a legit order number now? I only got an order ref starting with ACC and Telstra failed to find any info by their side.

          • @xjcs88: My order number also started with ACC and there was no problem when I contacted them

            • @HJ 242: Are you able to track your order or have you received the Airpods?

              • @xjcs88: I got another email with a tracking link

                • @HJ 242: Yeah that's what I'm waiting for, sigh.

                  • @xjcs88: They didn't have trouble finding my order when I chatted with them, so not sure about yours

                    • @HJ 242: I just got the update email yesterday, hooray. Thanks for sharing your experience.

            • @HJ 242: Hi HJ242, when you contacted Telstra chat online, which drop down box option did you choose. They have trouble finding my order and I have not yet received any shipping emails.

              • @RedDevil_1999: Don't remember which one I picked, but they transferred me to the order Team

    • I'm still waiting for a confirmation email.

  • yep i rcvd confirmation email from Telstra

    $247.89 here?
    https://www.megabuy.com.au/apple-airpods-with-wireless-charg…

Are these the same model that are being sold here?

    • Think it’s same, but no stock, could be dodgy pricing just to get search engine views

  • Just want to ask, is there anyone who received an order number which is trackable? I only received an order number starting with ACC and was told that Telstra cannot find any information in their system regarding my order.

They promised they could refund me if I have the proof, but I just want my airpods not the refund.

    • +1

I have sent an email to inquire about the Telstra.
      the same with me

      • I chatted and he said it's out of stock now, will ship whenever is available, no SLA.

        What a shame

        • He also told me that i received an email about out of stock (but i actually not received either in inbox or spam or anywhere else)
He said he requested to resend me email in 24h but now is 48h but no emails received.
I am chatting with them to request for refund but he needs an approval…WHAT THE HECK….

  • Will they ever stock up again?

    • Did you try https://www.megabuy.com.au/apple-airpods-with-wireless-charg… - the price is even lower there

      • Thanks for that.

Yes I did notice the url mentioned in the previous comments. Because I never shopped with them in the past, can anyone please share some experience of shopping with Megabuy for their special order? Does it take forever to arrive?

  • i received my order number, does anybody know how long it will take for it to be delivered.

  • back in stock

  • Special Discount 'ACCESS10' is invalid.

    • boooo to telstra.. must have removed it after the flood of orders lol
