The Promoter, their related bodies corporate, and their respective officers, employees, contractors and agents will not be liable for any loss, damage or personal injury (including but not limited to direct, indirect or consequential loss) whatsoever which is suffered or sustained in connection with this promotion, the marketing of this promotion, or the receipt or use of any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

Well worthwhile entering, I participated in the Coles Express and Rebel Sports cashback and received 2 x $30 vouchers for a $50 spend each. This one not quite as good, but still a 20% discount @ $50 for a $250 spend.

Amexnetwork is great for things like this, entered a Fiji holiday comp in April by giving my card, email and phone number and got rung yesterday saying I had won !!

    • nice one man! have fun :)

    • Congratulations! and damn!

    • didn't win anything as big… but amex did suddenly send me a $50 woolworths giftcard a few months ago… just because… they liked me! :) or something like that… no comps or anything. Was very happy.

      • LOL

        that's awesome!

$50 woolworths giftcard a few months ago… just because… they liked me! :)

        • so what happened then?

      • Let me guess, you hold a Platinum card (ie. fee-paying cardholder)? They don't do that for non-fee paying cardholder. So essentially it's a discount on your first year annual fee, which they will recoup in subsequent years if you renew.

    • Nice one. Congrats man!

    • Everybody else won the same holiday too. Scamz! :p

Kidding. I hope. But I have seen scams like that before. Just check it's conditionless.

  • great, thanks for sharing this.
just wondering if both original and additional cardholder register this offer.

    • They ask for you card no. so I think unlikely..
      Answer:
"Cardmembers may only register one Card for this offer. Only transactions made on the Card registered for the offer are eligible. Transactions made on another Card account or a supplementary Card with a different Card account number are not eligible…"

    • From the T&C

Only transactions made on the Card registered for the offer are eligible. Transactions made on another Card account or a supplementary Card with a different Card account number are not eligible.

    • thanks for you guys replies.

my original and supplementary cards come with two different card no.. So I tried twice and have registered both original and supplementary cards successfully.

  • EB Games … I can buy $250 worth of games? Does that count as "electricals" lol xD

  • what abt ppl with two different amex cards?

    • +1

"Cardmembers may only register one Card for this offer"
Not sure if they mean can only register one card per person?

      • I got both my Amex cards registered before seeing your comment, but I'll try both on giftcards if I can't find any electronics to buy before 30/Jun. Anyone knows how many cashbacks can we get on one card? It's not mentioned in the T&C as the previous woolworths promotion.

  • Thanks, signed up! I also got the Rebel sport $30 voucher… What would we do without Ozbargain??

  • Hmm. What do I need for $250.01?

    • +3

I don't get charged for holding the Amex Qantas Discovery Card… and if a merchant decides to charge more for it, I pull up my second Visa credit card to avoid it. :)

      • great minds think alike ;)

  • +1

Can I buy a gift card worth $251 from a participating electronics stores?

    • genius! I think you can… nothing in the T&Cs excludes gift cards.

    • +3

"Merchant Offer not valid on vouchers, voucher certificates, or prior purchases. Other restrictions may apply. Void where prohibited. No substitutions or transfers will be allowed."

I don't know if they will enforce that rule though. It's just going to look like a $250 purchase.

      • I don't think the merchants share details of items bought with Amex. Unlikely to be enforced.

      • Is gift card considered a voucher though? I really want to know as I just want to spend +$250 on a gift card.

  • Thanks

  • +3

I never pay fees on my AMEX! If there are fees associated I use my Mastercard instead.

DSE sell gift cards from other shops, if indeed they are not excluded!?

Great, time to buy $250 wish gift card now.

    • It's difficult to find a DSE store that has Wish giftcard. Can anyone give me some pointers, in Sydney? Thanks.

      • I would say they all have it, but some stores just hide the wish giftcard in their draws, like my local DSE.

  • +1

So I've registered. How do I know if I'm one of the 7500? Am I going to go blindly spending $250 and not get anything back?

    • I'm guessing registrations should stop after 7500, not clear in T&C though

    • Check the email address you provided. I received an email confirmation saying I successfully registered.

If someone has 2 different Amex cards and is looking to buy a $500 item, wonder if the seller will allow for the purchase to be split over the 2 cards for this …

      • Yeah I got the e-mail, but still skeptical that they really have a system in place that stops taking registrations after 7500…

      • +1

they normally would allow it, you just tell them you've only got $250 limit left on one card and pay the rest with a 2nd card. works at the supermaket dont see why not else where.

  • I can't seem to get to the offer from the www.americanexpress.com.au website. The link I'm going through is http://www1.amexnetwork.com/au/home?issuerName=au_amexnetwor… not the https as suggested by the OP

I'm always slight cautious when giving out credit card details on the net

Can anyone point me in the right direction to verify its authenticity?

guys its not a scam, we have used this website on numerous times and the site has been quoted on AMEX printed material and they've sent the gift cards as requested. No strange transactions on my AMEX either so if they are collecting the numbers for phishing, they are wasting their time.

  • -1

    Before the 30th? Alright!

  • I'm moving out on Monday, so I'm going to need some electrical goods! Thanks for posting :)

  • Be aware.

Eligibility. To redeem the offer set forth on this Registration Page (the “Merchant Offer”), you must be 18 years or older, a holder of a valid consumer American Express Charge or Credit Card issued in Australia either by American Express or by a licensed third party bank issuer of American Express-branded Cards (“Licensed Issuers”) and you must have received an invitation to register for the Merchant Offer (an “Eligible Cardmember”).

    • +2

too bad. the email they sent me says that i have successfully registered. if they had a problem they shouldn't have sent me an email saying that i successfully registered

  • -4

After what happened to the PSN, I am loathe to give my CC number out to random subsidiaries of big companies.

maybe don't leave the house either, you might get hit by a car.

      Live a little

      • +2

nah he could still get hit by a car inside the house… watched the news lately? ;)

        • +1

Obviously the solution is to just live in a padded bubble.

  • lol i just bought an ipad like 3 days ago :( great offer regardless!!

  • I have got this invitation for Rebel Sport cash back and made a purchase within the specificed date but have not received any cash back. Not sure where to go from here.

Would have been nice when this offer listed before the Dell 30% off + Moneybackco.

Will have to sit tight for an upcoming Dell offer :).

    • did you actually buy something from Rebel Sport?
I misunderstood and thought i only need to spend the $50 in any retails to get a rebel sport gift card but was certainly not happening… coz i need to actually spend in at rebel sport!!!!

      • I bought at Rebel sport alright.

    • I bought a rebel $60 giftcard and received a $30 giftcard later on, so it worked for me.

      • Look like I have to ring them up as I have spent more than $60 well ahead of the deadline of feb ending.

  • -2

Maybe spend the $250 and then return some items. If this is possible it make the % discount greater.

    • +1

      That's a thought but I wouldn't abuse the deal

  • unlike the woolworths gift card offer (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/33518) that required receiving a personal invitation from amex to be eligible, this does not and so is similar to the coles express one (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30922) in which i scored a gift card:

To be ELIGIBLE you must have "received an invitation" and successfully registered.

As the terms and conditions do not state how or from whom one must have received an invitation, the offer would seem to be open to anyone who is otherwise eligible.

However, "PARTICIPATION (in this offer to receive a $30 Coles Express Gift Card) is limited to the first 5000 Cardmembers who register."

Unfortunately, one is not informed upon successfully registering if they are in the first 5000.

    • i tried with those ones, and it came up as i'm not eligible. so i guess since i received an email to say i've registered for this, guess it should work.

still trying to figure out what to buy for the pharmacy offer.

  • what about apple store???

    • +1

"Only transactions made on the Card registered for the offer are eligible. Transactions made on another Card account or a supplementary Card with a different Card account number are not eligible."
      Hope this helps.

      • Sry, I just realised xxnakazatoxx has already mentioned it earlier ^_^

  • maybe get 2 x 250 bux gift cards if you got family or friend having amex then u can get 100 bux off? eg. ipad? anyone know if thats possible?

    • i thought this was genius, but then realised that the t&c states only one rebate per cardholder :|

  • Merchant Offer cannot be combined with other promotions or offers: Merchant Offer not valid on vouchers, voucher certificates, or prior purchases.

I think vouchers here refer to other promotions, not really on gift cards

  • Thank you mrgq.

  • love amex offers. just wonder bout the terms "Eligibility. To redeem the offer set forth on this Registration Page (the “Merchant Offer”), you must be 18 years or older, a holder of a valid consumer American Express Charge or Credit Card issued in Australia either by American Express or by a licensed third party bank issuer of American Express-branded Cards (“Licensed Issuers”) and you must have received an invitation to register for the Merchant Offer (an “Eligible Cardmember”)."

its says "you must have received an invitation to register for the Merchant Offer" does that mean any “Eligible Cardmember” qualifys they dont need to receive an invite?

Also i wonder if theres a limit on how many claims can be made per persons and how they can police it since some people have a both a amex issued card and a amex co-branded third party bank issued cards?

also is there a limit on how many claims can be made per household?

those who are registered for the bonus DSE points last year are lucky. they can get 5 bonus points til june 30th and $50 back from amex if they spend $250. i hope a wish card qualifies?

  • Registered, will find something to buy at $250…

  • -1

Are you guys sure this is not a scam? Tried to find the link from Amex website to this Amexnetwork website, but couldn't find any.

    • +1

Too elaborate for a scam. There are much easier ways to get credit card numbers. The domain has an SSL cert, it's a .com.au, the website is well made with many pages and there are no obvious language errors. The domain holder information looks legit and no one would write all those terms and conditions for a phishing scam.

  • +1

I am seriously considering to get an AMEX card, so i can take advantages of their future offers. Which AMEX card you guys having? Annual fees? other rewards? I think it will be wise to ask here before i act.

    • Your comment is exactly what keeps AMEX doing all these special deals :)

The best AMEX card I reckon is the Platinum Edge card. There's an independent review on it here http://perthhacks.blogspot.com/2010/10/amex-platinum-edge-cr… it gets you a free flight and is half the price of what it used to be. However there are qualifications like salary level etc

    • +1

If you don't intend to use the free flight and you are going to pay off the balance all the time then you should just get one of the zero fee cards. You should be able to get a free card with free rewards program. I got mine through engineers Australia but there was a BMW deal posted on here awhile back and there is always the Qantas discovery card or gold ascent. The disadvantage to the free cards is less reward points per dollar spent but if you aren't planning on using the card much you come out ahead. The Qantas discovery also only has 44 days interest free where most of the other amex have 55 days.

      • Thank you guys for your input. I will probably go and get a zero annual fee card.

      • Do Amex Platinum cardholders (eg. Platinum Edge) get special other special bonus points or cashback offers like this that no-fee cardholders do not get?

        • I think the freebies may just be your annual fee returned to you in some 'prize' / non-cash type card etc.

  • Guys, just want to re-confirm again [although i had read the T&Cs]…

This means, I registered my AMEX card during the promo period, purchased the item from any stores mentioned on T&Cs during the promo period, and i DONT need to sent any paperwork to AMEX to claim for the $50 , which means, AMEX will be automatically send me the $50 rebate cash either to my account or via money order. Am i correct ?

  • GREAT! Combine with DSE xbox package @ $378 reduces down to $328 - no amex charges @ DSE & amex points & double warranty.

    Thanks mrgq

    • I have the BMW Amex Card and no Annual Fee (Thanks to ozbargain), does it also get double warranty?

      • no i dont think so. only purchases on platinum credit cards or gold charge amex cards give u double warranty.

    • u should have just bought the xbox+kinect deal fome kmart for $299 when it was on.

  • Thanks mrgq, now waiting for a good PS3 deal.

  • Cam anyone confirm if the gift card can be purchased under this offer and still get $50 cash back?

    • nobody can confirm this. Officially it can't, but unofficially people have done it in the past.

      • Thanks muzzamo, for you response.

I wonder if I can use it at David Jones and get some electrical item price matched. That would be great as I have a gift card from them.

        • no u cant use it at david jones as they are not on the list. also what gift cards do u want to use? u have to ues ur amex card to get the $50 back

  • can anyone tell me, why i got this error message below when i try this link (https://www.amexnetwork.com.au/million) from my google chrome?

This is probably not the site you are looking for!
You attempted to reach www.amexnetwork.com.au, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as Amexnetwork.com.au. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of www.amexnetwork.com.au. You should not proceed.

    • Because the link is using https to connect to www.amexnetwork.com.au, and the security certificate for the site is mmisconfigured (forgot to include www).

      Try this:
      https://amexnetwork.com.au/million

You'll see that it works without a hitch. Just a stupid Website problem, and browsers being overly pedantic to prevent the large number of non-techheads from being duped by this problem where it is done deliberately and maliciously.

      • The VeriSign Premium EV SSL itself is not misconfigured.

Although it will work for both with and without 'www' when the certificate is issued to *.amexnetwork.com.au, most corporates won't use wildcard certificates due to security reason. Symantec also charge a fortune when a wildcard certificate is requested.

It is possible to define both www.amexnetwork.com.au and amexnetwork.com.au in one SANs SSL certificate. However, based on Symantec's charging model, the cost would be doubled. Price = Base Price (around $3K per annual) * number of FQDN * number of devices (including all Reverse Proxy, Hot DR devices where the certificate is installed)

  • Sorry to be a bit thick… but… how do I register?

    • If you're using Chrome like me, the "Register" button doesn't seem to appear - try using Internet Explorer instead.

  • Hi dy4me, thanks for clearing things. I think I'll buy Wish Card which can be used at Safeway, Caltex etc. Do you or anyone here has received cash back for it? That will be good idea.

  • My wife is the main amex holder and i have a supplementary amex card with a different number. i have registered successfully my card. The T&C doesn't say that you cannot register a supplementary card.
"Only transactions made on the Card registered for the offer are eligible. Transactions made on another Card account or a supplementary Card with a different Card account number are not eligible."
    Can anyone confirm this please?

    • u should confirm with amex directly. it seems no one in here working with amex

  • Thanks for sharing before the tax time!!!

  • I wonder how many of those that did subscribe to this deal came from Ozbargain. Would be interesting with over 5000 hits made from here to the website
