Mate the price on the U31F is pretty poor considering DSE has it for $719. The doodahs you throw in and the bluetooth model aren't worth $200+. Still a plus from me on the other deals.

      Ambiguous please see below,

      difference

8 cell battery vs 6 cell battery
      8GB ram vs 4GB RAM
bonus external DVD-rw vs no external drive at all.
Windows 7 Pro Vs Windows 7 Home premium
      Bluetooth vs no Blutooth

      $42 on battery
      $50 on Ram
      $60 on drive
      $100 on Win 7 pro
      $20 on Bluetooth

= $270 difference, if you can even get the above options at this price.
Windows 7 pro upgrade is $150, to buy a new 8 cell battery from asus is around $200, a USB bluetooth adaptor even for $20 will never work as well as an inbuilt adaptor. A Good external DVD-RW can be up to $90.
So really I could say there is over $400 difference in retail to get the same spec as you can't even buy these options for $270.

I actually think this is the best deal in the 4 day sale. You need to look past just a low price, a bargain is only good if your buying a great product at a great price.

good product at a great price
      is not the same as
great product at a great price.

      • is the 1.88kg weight for the 8 cell battery? and have you done your own battery life testing on the unit…if so does it get near the quoted 10 hour life?

        • We have tested it, I would say 7-8 of real use, as 10 hours can be achieved under circumstances I can't see the machine being used for.
Again these figures are not gospel but have all been achieved under a certain load, similar to how car companies quote fuel consumption.

edit: yes 1.88 with battery, the 6 cell version is a little lighter.

          venu
          , I actually really did.
          :)

  • The one at DSE does come with an 8cell although it incorrectly states 6 cell on their website (confirmed by calling DSE today).

    • I have seen models with 6 cell as well, personally, it is an option from Asus, so check everyone you buy
We only stock the 8 cell version.

      • this lot for sale all come with 8 cell version.

        • I ahve seen versions with 6 cells.

  • in the market for a i7 laptop with good graphic for WoW
    any recommendation? around $1000!

  • I really like the Lenovo $528 deal if only it has an inbuilt bluetooth :(

  • I guess the reason they're so vague about the cpu is that these aren't Sandy Bridge.

  • Centrecom has the Lenovo Z560 for $599 after Cashback. About $100 cheaper… the only difference Centrecom has only 500GB harddrive compared to 640GB
