Hey friend, it's friend your me

Very good price. You can barely find a second hand one on gumtree for $360.

    • Older versions are worth more though

    • You are not looking very hard

      • All I'm saying is that Nintendo keeps some pretty wild resale

  • Isn't this the cheapest eva?

    • +5

It's been cheaper during Black Friday Sales.

    • close.

    • +4

Could be had for around $320 (and a tad under $300 if you used cashback) from Amazon during Black Friday

      • yes, nearly one whole year ago.

Mate either you're mistaken or extremely overzealous with your rounding…

BF was late November last year

  • Good price. I picked one up during Nov/Dec last year when it was around the same price.

  • I can never 'search' for anything in their Ebay store - anyone else?

  • I cannot find this deal!

    • +2

Click the “go to deal” button at the top right, add the $399 Switch to cart and enter the code at checkout.

    • I've added direct link in the post.

  • Just bought this via amazon last week :( is there any price protection for amazon ?

    • +2

Just send them an email. They have been very good with customers in these early days. Worth a shot.

    • Considering this is a promo code and the actual price is 399 I doubt it

    I need a cheap ps4

  • Nice thanks!!!!

  • Tempting!… going to hold out for a bundle
    Thanks.

    • Id like a nice MM2 bundle for $350. One can dream, right?

  • The number of upvotes on this is indicative of the reason why the console is still insanely high priced with hardly ever any discounts.

Someone last week posted $399 JB Hifi deal, and a bunch of people were saying "just because it's the lowest current price doesn't make it a deal" - well, where are you all now?

$360 + game is the de-facto deal price for this console for the past year. We're a couple months out from a hardware announcement, so it should be noted that $360 sans game isn't exactly the best price right now.

$360 + game (repeated many times), or $319 one-time Amazon Black Friday deal - that's the benchmark.

    • I wouldn't be too hopeful for a price drop with the hardware announcement. The new switch will be a cheaper, lower performing model.

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to drop the price too.

Hopefully there's one with a double capacity battery. Flights suck when it only runs for two hours!

        • +4

45W 20,000mAh power bank solves that.

          • -4

@CarbonTwelve: Flights don't allow the use of powerbanks

            • @belongsinforums: All flights I have been on allow powerbanks.

              From the Virgin website:

Spare/loose batteries (including power banks/packs must be in carry-on baggage only

              • -1

                @mattgt: Use not carriage

                • @belongsinforums: Not sure why you're arguing..??

I've been using powerbanks (yes, using, as well as carrying), on flights for years with no issues at any point.

I very much doubt the mini version will be lower performing; it'll just be integrated controls with no feedback.

It's the more powerful version coming next year that interests me…

        • My assumption by more “powerful” is it’ll have a better screen and battery. I don’t think it’ll be too much of a “enhanced” console like PS/Xbox.

    • … and where's the link to "the best price now"?

  • Good price, got it a few days ago from EB Games eBay, $371 after discount + $37.1 cashback

Shopback combined 17% off day had a chance to buy at $320 , but there was better items available :)

Would buy at that price now though , this 10% too high .

  • Was considering but from the comments, I'll hold back for a while longer.

As an aside, it feels like some tech items have been increasing in price relative to their improvement in recent years.
Logitech G502 was like $60 from MSY ~3-4 years ago, now the rehashed G502 somehow still costs more.
    Purchased a 24" 1080 Viewsonic IPS monitor for $150 ~6 years ago. Now there's a bunch of 27", 144Hz, G/Free-sync, 1440p monitors costing anywhere from $450-$1k.
Nintendo 3DS was $250?-$300 before and now a $360 Switch is considered pretty good (I think was released in the high $400s?).
RAM prices were a running joke for a few years. Maybe it still is.

Tech improves over time but it almost feels like the prices of modern day equivalents increase faster than the corresponding improvement in tech.

    • Could be because our dollar sucks too so buying in new stock would be more expensive for some suppliers (unless had a prior contract already).

    • My G400 was $29 from Dick Smith local stock, the equivalent G402 goes on Ozbargin for an all time low of $42 which is still good.. But considering the retail for the G400 was $49?

I do understand the increase due to inflation and whatnot. But not that much. Our dollar vs the USD has an impact too, as well as the "new" tax on international purchases may have had some impact.

RAM had a reason (to a degree) for the price hike; but other tech hasn't so much apart from inflation and the cost of gold fluctuating which has always been an issue.

I guess in some markets lack of competition or monopoly also has prices rising too as companies get greedy (Nvidia, I'm talking about you). Just look at the GTX1650 reviews.

The one thing that gets me is smartphones..

  • This code can't be applied to your order.

    has the code expired?

  • $399 was still a better price at Harvey Norman, with MarioKart and the Wheel. But this is a fairly decent price.

not worth it since a newer one is coming soon, also for that price you can get a fokin PS4 and play better games…..

  • Ah to jump now or wait for potential EOFY deals.

  • Thanks for the deal, got mine.

  • Code doesn't work?

  • Bought yesterday. Great deal, have been eyeing this for over a year. My first console

  • +1

New consoles coming as soon as next month I’ll wait fir the Christmas sales, these can’t stay so overpriced forever.
