Great prices. Can’t wait for them to start flying direct to Bali from Sydney ❤️

    • I know right? I'm hanging out for that too!

FYI for anyone else who like me had never heard of this airline before:

Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian full-service airline and is owned by Indonesian Lion Air Group with headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. The name Malindo signifies a cooperative pact between Malaysia and Indonesia.

    They look like great prices.

I flew with Malindo when they rolled into Aus. I flew from Perth to Malaysia.

      Solid fight and entertainment

      • My preferred carrier to Malaysia out of Perth. Last week Picked up return flights to KL in June for AUD240 carry on only. When they were full service that would have been 400

    • Malindo restructured in Feb. this year. Now 3 grades of fares. The basic/ cheapest fare does not include check in luggage. A hot meal and drink is supplied where the sector is a min flight time of 3 hours. Flight time of 1-2 hours is a drink and snack. Under 1 hour zip. So technically no longer full service.

      • You might want to let Wikipedia know.

  • Do they fly direct? If so, incredible. Direct from Sydney only 6:5 there and 5.5 back. So quick. Who cares if u get meals or not

  • When will the late March, early April flights be released for Malindo?

Flew them from Melbourne to Denpasar this year and was very happy! Better leg room than jetstar, and 2 meals.

  • When will they start flying from Sydney?

Partly owned by Lion Air??? No, thanks. I wouldn't touch anything that's owned or managed by Lion Air with a barge-pole.

They're the worst airline when it comes to customer service and safety rating in Indonesia. Even the locals would rather fly with other airlines if it wasn't for their super cheap prices.

    • I wouldn't touch anything that's owned or managed by Lion Air with a barge-pole.

What if they were using barge-poles to manage barges?

  • Was into it until I saw the cost of 2 adults, with selected seats, with a shared 20kg luggage allowance was $701. No thanks!

$350 per person return, including extras…seems quite reasonable to me.

  • $228 return from Melbourne over the Labour Day long weekend. Great deal, and can use Amex lounge on way out, and Priority Pass Lounge on the way back.

I just returned from a week in Bali flying Malindo Air.

    cons :
*no checked baggage (but who needs checked baggage for Bali?)
    *no free earphones
*slow check-in (though you can use electronic check-in for Aus airports and then go to an express queue, but no express queue in Bali. unfortunately for me the ECheck-in wasn't working when I was at Bris)

    pros :
*plenty of leg room. I'm 6' and was very comfortable - plenty of room to stretch
*free meal (chicken or Veg option) + water. softdrink was $2 a can (only Oz currency accepted both ways)
*free movies, music etc (Jetstar makes you pay)
*price - cost $215 return from Bris

    Some Tips for Bali.
(1)get an bali/indonesian sim card (I bought one from Klook - 6gb for $9.95- pick up at airport - klook guys -in orange t-shirts- are standing around just outside arrivals and will set up your phone with the sim -just show a print out/screen dump of the order confirmation)
(2)download go-jek app. this is the Uber app for Indonesia (there is no Uber in Indonesia/Bali). you only use cash. plenty of drivers (longest wait was ~20 minutes in a remote area). and extremely cheap. the most expensive fare was an one hour drive during surge pricing and it cost $17. (the trip there had cost ~$11)

  • I used Klook simcard in Bali. It's good. Their after sales service is a bit shakey, but if you persist, you'll get there. (there's an app for the XL simcard…. Easier to use than get info from Klook.

Gojek is brilliant. You can go for kms on the back of one of their bikes for 40cents upwards. They have cars also. Grabcar is also there.

Traveling on Malindo for the first time in a couple of wks. KUL-ADL for $205 (ticket bought only only 2wks beforehand) with a A 1hr stop-off in Denpasar. Looking forward to seeing the difference. I think they'll give Airasia & Jetstar a run for their money if they have their customer service act together.
Any airline that comes to Adel and saves us a domestic flight is a good thing.

I just need to get my lounge pass thing sorted, and I'm good for the next trip.

  • Anymore? Looking for discounted flight from melb
