Audio Plugins Bundle Sale up to 90% off (e.g. Platinum Bundle US $199, Was US $1999) @ Waves

100

Some big discounts on expensive VST and ProTools AAX plugins for Windows and Mac platforms. This is something of a vertical market, of interest to audio producers, editors, and hobbyists who tinker with audio.

Platinum bundle US $199, Was $1999 (~AU $283.97, Was ~AU $2839.70)

Also FabFilter plugins are still 40% off until the end of this month: https://www.bestservice.com/deals/fabfilter_anniversary_sale…
I like their interface, as well as those by melda and Nugen ( I am just learning audio editing as a hobby, to intergrate into games).

  • Do you think the platinum deal could be worth it? Or does it hit this price pretty often?

The Platinum deal is great value if you will use most of the plugins but, unless you're recording/mixing professionally, that's probably unlikely.
Personally, I am a terrible "completionist" and frequently need to talk myself out of buying these sorts of bundles just to have everything, rather than just the things I need (or, realistically, might use). In my opinion the Silver bundle (US$79) offers a selection of plugins more likely to be actually used by the average home studio or musician.

Upgrades are available - the bundles will give credit for what you own if you've registered them, so starting small and expanding later if you need to is quite viable.

This special on bundles was also offered last year.
They are also always discounted for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but I cannot recall by how much.

  • Waves plugins rarely aren’t on sale lol

    • I know, I seem to get an email from them every second day announcing a sale. However, because of this, I rarely check them - 90% off seems like it could be pretty good? But I have no point of reference to what their 'regular sale price' is. Do you know if this is a better than usual sale or roughly the same?

        Few things to note:
        1. Waves RRP is insanely inflated lol
        2. Having hundreds of plugins doesn’t necessarily make you a good producer/artist etc. The best producers use a select number of plugins and really focus on nailing the fundamentals of recording and mixing rather then trying to use every plugin under the sun
        3. My experience with Waves: it’s of decent quality but CPU usage is high.

        • CPU usage is only high on iMac computers because of thermal throttling.

  • Will these run on my SSL-L500?

    • Sure, you can use the Tapes, Tubes & Transistors plugs to warm up that nasty digital SSL :D

  • Yep, they're always having a sale, and their RRPs are nuts, but these prices are pretty good.
For reference, i bought Diamond 2 years ago for $299, it's currently $249. Pianos & Keys are great value for $89.
Also be aware, they will add 10% for GST to the final price.
No issues with CPU usage for me on Windoze.
