Why is the Hub better for the bedroom?
No camera, and ambient light sensor
Oooo the ambient light sensor is definitely a big plus
@reptilescorpio: It works really really well. The screen goes totally dim so you can just make out a large LCD clock (instead of the usual Google photo slideshow), and hence it isn't distracting. When lights come on in the room, the screen comes on.
The camera on the Tablet watching what you are doing in the bedroom is very important, when it comes to android OS. Ambient lighting comes next and is still important. Thanks for pointing it out.
@The OzBargainer: You do realise the Lenovo displays have a physical shutter to block the camera don't you?
The home hub display goes very very dark, so it's not bright at night. I have it a good 12 inches from my face and it's the perfect brightness
I got this from the last deal with mini from Goodguys.
Display quality and audio is much better than Google hub.However, the microphone is not as receptive as the hub. But this could be just my unit.
Is the sound similar to the regular Google home? Inclined to upgrade for a screen but concerned about losing too much bass
Thanks, just received the free Google Home Mini from the Spotify deal and realised the assistant would be so much more useful with a screen.
Does this work exactly like a Google Home? My house is littered with Google Home mini and Max, but this could be good for the kitchen for when cooking.
Based on a number of video reviews, yes. Exactly like a Google Home with a screen.
Kitchen/cooking aid is definitely one of the main use cases of this.
Great price. My girlfriend loves ours when cooking in the kitchen, great for setting timers and bringing up recipes. Spotify and Plex integration works great too.
I was just about to bite the bullet on the Home Hub but if this works with Plex that's a game changer
You do need to initiate a Plex stream with a device like your phone though, same as you would when streaming to a Chromecast. It doesn't play from voice command - the assistant responds with "Sorry, I can't play from Plex yet".
I purchased one of these (elsewhere) and it just died overnight for apparently no reason a week after purchase (do your research on this). Working with Lenovo to get a return was hard work. I would recommend people take a look at the JBL equivalent, must better sound and so far it hasn't died.
Bought this and received today. No sound at all after setup, did a factory reset, same issue. Need to return it.
