How many new houses have enough space to plant a tree? ๐Ÿ˜ ๐ŸŒฒ

    • Exactly, maybe councils should require there to be trees left on properties and some greenspace around homes.

I donโ€™t want it even if it is free. Causes drain blockage, building issues etc.

    • Bunnings sells Bonsai's as well. It is a tree so might qualify lol.

Choosing a suitable tree species and planting in an appropriate location will prevent building issues and blocked drains.

How much does this cost to administer? $50+ a voucher? More money wasted by the councils.

    • True. Tree planting should be part of the DA - no trees, no build.

    • This is administered by the NSW Government not the councils

  • Thank you - just applied :)
Might be able to squeeze it somewhere on our 250m2 block…

Enjoy all the problems that tree will give you after 20 years

    • Especially on a 250m2 block…
It'll be just about taking over the house.

    • Usually when that happens the original owner will pass the problem to the next owner by selling the house.

    • Unfortunately we're planning on renting it out after a few years of living in it, so it still may be our problem in 20 years if we haven't sold it by then :(

Then you will be getting maintenance request from your tenants.

        • Sounds about right, perhaps I might put them in a pot or try to figure out a way to restrict the roots from crawling their way through to the pipes, which I'm sure is difficult or impossible without restricting it to a pot…

  • I applied and they requested me to upload complying development certificate. Any idea what this is?
