Ridiculous that addicted to audio have closed their eBay store during this latest round of eBay named store promotions of which they are one.

    • +9

Lay off man, they woke up late so they need some extra time to price-jack

      • Lol that's one huge Jack, they've closed it to July according to the eBay message for their listings.

    • They had actually removed most of their items during the last sale. I was about to grab the LCD2C but they only had 4 items listed on the final day.

      • Yeah they closed the shop two days before the last sale on top of that. Was considering an xc.

        • They closed the shop?

          For the move?

    • not even Australian 2 year warrenty and they want the 'RRP' for this phone without the discount how does Ebay get away with this blaten BS
    • +13

How does Ebay get away with this blaten BS

eBay is a marketplace so they're not in the wrong here, the seller can charge whatever they want, if you don't like it, then don't buy. Simple.

      • +4

If the price was jacked up for the purpose of the sale, it's simply illegal.

You can report it, it will be seen to.

Will you get it for the price you think you deserve? Nope.

        • -6

If the price was jacked up for the purpose of the sale, it's simply illegal.

I don't think it is in this case. It's illegal to up prices, and then drop them again to say that the price has been cut. But there's nothing against raising prices and providing a coupon to bring it back down again.

          • @Spam Service: The coupon code is certainly a way around the strict rules on pricing.

I believe if the sellers are changing their images to display the percentage discount, then it can be classified as misleading.

            Some do some don't.

I would be interested to know if the ACCC has taken an interest in these practices, or if anyone has even been bothered to report them as misleading in general.

            • @ozturtle: plenty of reports from last year of jacked bs prices and Zero response from ACCC

      • -1

it is actually illegal to jack a price up like that…

        • +8

How is the price jacked up? RRP is $1229, they're selling for $1209. And have been since 27/4.

The seller can put whatever price they want, it hasn't been jacked for this sale.

        • -1

Okay Mr. law man, provide proof that what this seller in particular is doing is illegal.

        • One of the R’s in RRP stands for recommended, it’s what the manufacturer/distributor recommends as the price, it’s just a guide, you can charge more or you can charge less.

        • To claim a discount, the claimed original price must have been sold at that price for a period of time. A week or two, is not a period of time. The seller must be able to show a history of sales at the claimed higher price. Having predominately cheaper pricing to the time of the supposed discount, also counts against the claim of a discount.

Seems like 150 stores is too much for Ebay to handle in one link.

      • Good work! Any idea how I add the actual thing I'm looking for? If I put before, or after, the seller block, it gives me unavailable. Mobile/Firefox, so let me know if anyone has any joy.

Need to select "Request Desktop Site" from FF mobile for the search links to work

          • @OzBragain: Cheers, works well. Need to buy a bigger phone… :)

      • Not sure if it’s an issue for anyone, but your postcode seems to be embedded as a filter somewhere in that URL

        • I've noticed that across all the search links that get posted. Always trips me up.

    • Government backed social control? All at the hands of the Illuminati?

I dont get how many +ve this deal has with nobody posting a single compelling deal that makes this offer worthwhile.

It is funny how, systems fail.

  • +1

If someone can find me a decent price on an 4th Gen Apple TV, maybe even a 4k model…..I will shower you in many riches. :D

    • What would be considered a good price for you?

      • +2

RRP less the 20% would be great :P

Basically anything but RRP + 20% and then discount of 20% - resulting in a price of RRP

        • +1

lol - so RRP is $279 for the 4k version right? Less 20% = $223.20. Something like this price or less would suffice?

          • @CrocDundee: I'd probably get the 32GB 4K - so RRP of $249 less 20% = $199.20 - Anything around that would be good

Or even the non 4K version for $167 would be good

I'll have a look at 10 and see what shows up

        • I've found a 4th GEN one for approximately $233 delivered.. Interested?

          • @CrocDundee: yes please!

            • +2

@Chicky: Here you go - Use the code PEEL20 at checkout and it should come down to $233.10 with free delivery.

              • +2

@CrocDundee: How weird that PEEL20 only gives you 10% off :P

                • @Fergy1987: Yeah! Stupid eBay.. I personally hate these %off deals that eBay run because like everyone says, they jack the price up! There are a few stores I boycott now and won't ever buy from them because of this.

EDIT: Classic example is the link I shared above. Even in their own ad they say the RRP is $239 but have jacked the price up to $259 knowing that 10% off (using the code) brings it just under the retail price.. Just ridiculous!!

        • +1

You really don't get how percentages work, do you?

          • @scottySK: Is that for me or someone else? Either way - care to elaborate?

        • +1

RRP + 20% and then discount of 20% - resulting in a price of RRP

          That would actually result in a 4% discount since RRP×1.20×0.80 = 0.96×RRP.

          • @kurisu: A valid point. I was merely referring to price jacking

Maths and numbers were never my strong suit….Now I have to get back to work…..in my Finance job :P

          • +1

@kurisu: Ohh Fergie's original statement.. Yeah I wasn't taking that literally but rather approximately.. :)

          • @kurisu: Thanks kurisu

  • +5

I dont get how many +ve this deal has with nobody posting a single compelling deal that makes this offer worthwhile.

Wouldn't be too smart to dilute a item more that going to sell out by 10.01 AM would it ?

  • +1

    Nvme ssd deals pls

  • +8

Possibly better search link: search link

Important Note: Add your search term to the end of the URL. If you type it into the search box, eBay will bomb out.

    There were 3 dodgy entries:

    "bedroom.direct" is actually "mobile.mattress"
"early2bed-oz" and "fishingtackledeals9" do not exist

    • thanks wasting my time trying to work out why fishingtackledeals9 doesn't come up

  • +2

Why don't we all report eBay Price Jacks to ACCC, if there are enough complaints I'm sure ACCC will look into this. When it comes to GST there are on to it but what about illegal price jack? Most of us here know when there is a discount promo on its a price jack but what about other innocent consumers out there? they dont!

    • +13

Honestly if complaining to the ACCC, Police, council and other govt agences has taught me anything it is they dont give a f*** if they dont have a financial stake in it.

The problem with the complaint process it is time consuming takes a lot of effort and generally the govt/law does nothing to reward you for you efforts matter of fact you almost get treated like you are the criminal.

I got rob recently had all the evidence gave it to the police they eventually contacted the thief who said 'i will pay it back' never did police are like well this is a civil matter good luck…

The 1000s of complains against the big banks and insurance fell on deaf ears for about 10 years and pretty much the banks and insurance companies got away with it not paying out a death benefit for having a heart attack! and charging fees to dead people! and they got a slap on the wrist…

the fact is the govt and the legal system does not protect the consumers instead it protects criminals and the govt gives ZERO f*** unless it is there money.

      out system is stuffed!

      • +1

You miss the point. These deals arent always supposed to stack with other deals. So a seller who already has 15% off isnt mandated to take 20% off that deal. This happens even in retail stores and sometimes its X% off but not for certain brands. Then there is x% off but off retail price, not already discounted products.

Sometimes we find great deals where we get the discounts stacked, thats a great deal. But they dont have to stack discounts.

This isnt something that Governments want to be bothered with. You look at the price here, if its cheaper than another retailer you buy.

If its not then you buy elsewhere.

        Simples…

      • +1

wow u knew the theif and they did nothing. u should take law into ur own hands imo. my house got robbed two times i totally feel u, literally no punishment for theives unless they steal from bank. remember the times when people would get guillotined for stealing a bread, a bit too much but stealing anything not needed for survival should be punished very severely.

        • Im with you but taking the law into your own hands only works if you dont go to the police in the 1st place

        • After i rolled your place the second time i tried to get rid of all your jewellery but it turned out to be fake.

Crime didn't pay in your case. Shame on you.

    • Because Harvey backs this corrupt practice as well.

  • +2

    Any real deals though?

  • +1

Oppo r17 pro works out to be $637 delivered. That's the cheapest it's been.

  • Pixel 3 XL is $1,079.20 at Allphones vs. JB at $1199.

  • +1

This 1TB 970 EVO PLUS is technically $250 after the $35 cashback from Samsung, I think that is the lowest for this NVMe SSD so far.

    • Hallelujah! We are saved!

(Poking fun of the fact, not the poster).

  • does anyone know how to do a search on the items that are 20% off by word search?

it seems like you need to browse through the whole category and can't word search specific items

    • On mobile. Request desktop site. Find post above by ozbragin…

      • no guy… desktop site no search function for the 20% specific items

        • You have to open one of the 2 search links by smh above, then choose request desktop site, the type the product you want in the search box…. It'll search the sellers participating in the sale for you. Let us know if you find anything good!

          • +1

@Robc: Why does eBay make it so difficult

Nothing good prices inflated for the sale

  • does anyone spot this 20% off on Samsung galaxy s10.

  • +3

Ebay should introduce a price freexe policy for stores 7 days prior to a sale.

For example Sydneytec selling P30 pro for over 1800? WTF!!

  • +2

    After a Aero 15 laptop with a 1660ti gpu.

Priced at $2799 online at every store i've seen, including SydneyTec yesterday. Today had a look at it's been bumped to $3149.

At least wireless1 didn't bump their price, can get it for $2450 on their ebay page with 10% off.

    • Sydneytec and Wireless1 are same store…

      • ah ok, seems a bit weird they have the same exact laptop at different prices then

        • Futu do it with their various accounts as well.

Lots of reasons - They can compare to their own price to claim a saving. Price jacked at one store, and "sold out" at the other, and other infinite dishonest examples.
