I spent months searching for baby monitors online before my little one was born and what I found was that while many "expert" or press reviews were good the user reviews were awful. I've never seen such a contradicting view during product research. The Arlo is a perfect example of that. User reviews across most sites show this to be pretty bad.
The other thing that I found is that almost all monitors that didn't come with a dedicated screen had terrible user reviews.
I eventually got mine bought for me by my mum in the UK so we have a cheap BT one that can't be bought here. It's been amazing.
Can u share what brand and model your cheap BT one is?
We got the cheapest 3000 model. They have plenty of fancier ones but it's perfect. My mum got ours for £25 brand new but it's definitely worth the full price.
If you want to avoid the hacking stories of wifi enabled baby monitors, try the infant optics.
Second this - we have one from Amazon and it's been great.
Or try any IP camera with proper network setup(firewall rules) but isn't suited for average consumers.
This is a great camera/system and a very good price for it. Have one myself.
Works on adults too.
