  • I presume this isn't sandy bridge?

    • +6

Your Google-fu is weak, young one :P

      Intel Core i3-350M = Arrandale

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_i3_microproc…

      • +4

General rule is that sandy bridge has 4 digits after pre fix (i3,i5,i7)
Correct me if i am wrong.

        • +1

yes not Sandy bridge, it has dedicated graphics, most sandy bridge processors other than i7 will not have dedicated graphics, definately not Blu-Ray either at this price point on other machines. This is what makes this laptop unique and special the X52JU has Blu Ray

        • nice… now all it needs is an i5 :D

amazing price with bluray… tempted to get the misses to stop buying the soniq TV from JB and get this instead….

          i couldn't possibly get both…. or could i?

        • +6

hmmm, you guys know the only difference between i5 and i3 is the turbo boost feature, its just clock speed performance difference. i7 has the different architecture.

        • ill admit it no i didnt i was too lazy to look it up :`(

but thanks for letting us know!

        • wisc, you asked for it,
here is an i5 with bigger graphics. Clock speed is high enough to warranty a performance difference, especially with turbo boost.
          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/45696

        • funny how some things rate so well and others dont… ;)

        • +1

wisc, honustly some times, I dont think people know what a bargain is, you can't pick two specs, compare with another two specs add an imaginary $100 to it and then think its a bargain or not a bargain, you must compare exact spec for spec. I think people are just picking the processor and then not looking at much else and calling it a bargain becuase its below $600 or $700.
There is more to a laptop than just a processor.

    • You can tell from the model number. This is 350M, Sandy Bridge would be 2xxxx.

  • MLN, the description is wrong then, because it has blueray combo ???

    • read MLN's response again…

      • its is a Blu-Ray combo drive which means
reads Blu Ray, and is a DVD-RW drive, so it will burn and read DVD's and CD's and watch Blu Ray movies.

        • +2

you just edit the post, MlN ! it wasnt that before… hahaha anyway, this is good stuffs with good price.
          i'll think about it tonight.

      • +3

that's really fast response, MLN :D

        • I try my best.
          :)

      • did not edit the main listing, I edited my response, because it sounded like it had no Blu-Ray

To clarify again, this is definately Blu-Ray Combo drive. You can watch Blu-Ray movies on this, and still do everything else you could with a normal DVD-RW

  • Any possible deals for the N53sn? =(

    • +2

maybe, we always have something going
we have the following deals going on at any time, I only pick what I think suits ozbargain. So there are always other deals happening

MLN Deal of the week, (every week)
MLN Secret Sales, (from time to time)
MLN 4 Day Deals, (twice a week every week.)
MLN Overstock Deals. (all the time)
MLN catalogue sales (about every 4-6 weeks) one is running now our tax time sale.
Clearance deals as well (usually more aged products end up here)

Again I recommend you sign up to our MLN Deal Alerts on our web site (www.mln.com.au) to know what's happening, I only post 2 deals a week here on ozbargain that I cherry pick. At any one time a least 20-30 special deals are live at MLN.

Also remember the MLN Online & Instore price is the Same Low Price.

so you can always go instore and ask about what deal is currently running also. You can also just check online and then go instore. The only deal that are usually only online are the clearance deals, as these products tend to be older models and we usually dont have enough to even supply the stores with.

      • please provide us a good deal on the DV6-2119tx :D

        • I'll make a request, what would be a good deal to you on this?
Please be realistic, and I will see what I can do.

  • +1

Great deal, im not buying atm but would happily give it a big +1 for anyone else to buy

  • Also agree Great deal

  • +1

Website says 640GB HDD and deal title says 500. Is the website correct? Pretty good deal regardless. I was gonna build a HTPC but hmm this is tempting instead

    • +2

yes it is 640 GB, wrote 500GB by mistake

      • looks like even you guys thought $584 was too cheap for 640GB HD laptop ;)

        • I know some of you guys are sceptical, but it really does not pay for us to even try to slip anything by any of our customers, not only is it illegal, but like I always say, really silly to even try it as it just bad for business. This is just proof that sometimes it goes the other way and we can advertise less than whats actually provided.
I'm glad this happens sometimes too :)

        • I think you misunderstood. I am not at all skeptical about the legitimacy of the deal, merely pointing out the fact that at $584 even you guys normally don't expect to sell a laptop with a 640GB hard drive.

Just 3 months ago, the most you would have been able to get at such a price would have been a 500GB and that too with CPU/GPU compromises.

        • Spawnpoints, thanks I get it, yes I think I came across wrong myself, I understand, I am just using this as an opporunity to point out to other sceptics, thats sometimes errors can be in your favour.
          Thanks for your support.

  • this sounds like an awesome deal, how heavy is the laptop? is there something a little more lighter for mobility (for uni), ive got a 15inch hp 8510p that i lug around atm, kinda annoying. do you guys have any special deals for a 13inch or 14inch laptop? ill buy it instantly, want to get the laptop before financial year. xD

    • Me 2. Im after something with super long battery life for uni if you can throw a deal together

      thanks

      • +1

guys 15" notebooks dont have super long batteries. similar to big cars not having good fuel economy. 13" laptops are what you need to look at if you want long battery life and at this price your not going to get anything with this power, and usually they are much more expensive.

        • so are there decent portable ones? not exactly at this price but are there deals?

      • yes there are some real good 13.3" notebooks as well, you need to follow the other deals that we launch or check the website, there is always a deal going.
I receommend you signup to deal alerts on our website
and sign up to our facebook page
I only cherry pick the deals I think are best for ozbargain.

  • Does it have bluetooth?

  • Would this be suitable for gaming? Or are there better laptops suited for gaming at a similar price? Many thanks.

    • no bluetooth on this model, but it is suitable for basic to mid level gaming, at this price you can't go wrong, I think. This model is my personel favourite.

  • How long is battery life? Would it be able to play a movie or two without having to be plugged in?

    • +3

General rule of thumb for 15.6"/16" laptops is that the battery can last for 1.5hrs on a standard 6 cell battery for all your usual stuff. Gaming's a bit different, they last for 30mins-1hr15mins depending on the type of game you are playing (eg Crysis or AoM).

      • Thank you very much for the response :)

        • +1

you will get between 1-3 hours battery depending on what your doing, as with pretty much all 15.6" laptops, usually less with 17" laptops.
13,3" will give you much better battery life, but it will also cost a lot more to have the same grunt, usually about twice the price.

Bad experience with MLN's courier TNTExpress. So I won't recommend. Its better to pay few bucks more and avoid worries and waiting…

    • +4

      Thanks Fatwallet,
I understand you would be upset if the courier has not delivered on time or lost your parcel. Either way you will receive your order it is insured, it will just take a little longer than advertised. You would be surprised to know TNT is not cheap at all, and it is actually one of the most expensive couriers. We pay more than $29 to deliver a notebook to you, we just charge this amount. Sometimes this just happens and it is beyond our control there is not much we can do about it, as we do not own the courier company or control them. This happens with all couriers and we have found them to be the best out of all of them.
I do wish there was something we could do to ensure it did not happen to anyone, as we process in excess of 1000 parcels per week, this just happens to a few a people every week.
We do specify 5-14 for this reason, has your order exceeded the 14 day time period?

      • -4

Thanks MLN. Why don't you choose a different courier?

        • +3

TNT gives us the best result, we have used all couriers, they are all just as slow as each other and just as fast as eachother, but TNT can provide extra things that other smaller couriers can't do, like a dedicated account manager to escalate issues too, door to door in most areas and most importantly If you are not there, a card will be left, this will have the contact details for you to organise a re-delivery at no extra charge to yourself.
If the local driver is then able to fit your re-delivery time then yes maybe you can specify a time once you have missed the original delivery and the TNT driver can be back at a suitable day/time for the both of you. A lot of other couriers don;t provide this. TNT express is a premium service.

Has it taken more than 14 days from when you paid for your order?
          We do advertise 5-14 days.
Have you contacted the MLN web team?

edit: I am beginning to think it has not been 14 days, has it?

        • -2

It didn't take 14 days. But first they tried to deliver on Monday and my wife went to pick up mu daughter for 15 minute and we missed the delivery. No problem on that. I was supposed to get a card but searched everywhere and didn't find it. That's alright too.

I called and they told me that they cannot deliver on Tuesday, so it will be Wednesday. Little frustrated but that's okay. They told me to call them to find out when the driver will be in my area. So I called Wednesday morning and they told me that they tried to deliver the package on Tuesday(!##!#??) and could not find the address!!! What!!!! And the driver cannot deliver that day(Wednesday) since he had already left without my package. So it will be Thursday. And at last I got it today. May be my expectation is too high as I moved from USA. Getting used to it.

        • +1

          Thanks I understand your frustration,
Most couriers will not even attempt a second delivery, each attempted delivery cost is covered by MLN free of charge to you our customer. Usually you are just asked to pick it up from the depo.
I can't really see what I could have done better, what we at MLN could have done better,
Yes I agree US couriers are much better but with the low population in Australia this is the best network we can get, There are no better options available to you or to us here, and also its still within 14 days as advertised, we advertise this time frame for this reason.

Had you contacted the web sales team or just posted on all the ozbargain posts?

  • +1

Bit rough negging because of a courier. You could have 'payed a couple of more bucks' but ended up with the same story.

  • +1

I recommend you guys to everyone at work… we collectively have purchased around 12 laptops in the last 12 months from the Bridge road store.. Big thumbs up from everyone at Camberwell Tram Depot

    • +1

please provide us a good deal on the DV6-2119tx :D

MLN 23 hours 3 min ago
I'll make a request, what would be a good deal to you on this?
Please be realistic, and I will see what I can do.

Although this is not for a laptop, what prices are you doing on a SATA 750GB internal HDD 2.5" 9.5mm? best I can find is 109.00(are you able to do sub $100.00?) or 58.00 at a store-not advertised price for the WD 500GB version…. just asking?

I will most probably come in to buy this laptop, on the weekend at either Vic.Market or Richmond. I 'd love to buy the HDD from you at the same time.

    Cheers

    • Yeah I think Rep should do bundle deals as well, that would be very nice for future laptop buyers

  • Ozfi
can we keep the same comments on one thread? this way everyone can follow it

    • Cheers!, I went in there y'day with my brother and we bought 2, 1 for my brother and one for myself (Peel st. store), still couldn't get a good deal on the HDD, oh well :(.

  • +1
