  • Does this come with data migration software?

      just use Acronis true image

  • Getting cheaper by the day.. felt bad when I missed out on the $68 Futu eBay deal recently but this is even better

  • is this equivalent to Samsung 860 QVO SSD?

    • +1

This one uses Crucial inferior/lower grade TLC NAND (compared to MX500). QVO does have larger dynamic SLC cache, but still mostly QLC NAND.

      • so which one is better?

they both are lower grade SSDs.

        • +2

I wouldn't recommend either, but if you must get one, 860 QVO because BX500 is DRAMless SSD.

@netsurfer: Every SSD has its place.

This will upgrade my 8yo SSD perfectly.

@Ulysses31: It depends on your needs. For me, this will be the slowest SSD I own if I were to get one.

My really old SSDs are MLC ones so this would be a downgrade for me. It's okay as a game drive, but 480GB is not enough for games (for me).

              • @netsurfer: Agreed. I've got prob 40tb of spinning rust. Speed doesn't matter, as its archive.
Games, download, unrar, OS etc all on SSD. But might whole setup is budget. No point me getting a ferrari for city streets.

Great for the price. I picked up one of these last time, and under large write loads, you can see it change from writing ~300MB/s to ~3MB/s for a few seconds every GB or so. So performance seems very uneven. Perfect for a game drive, not so good for a system drive.

Yeah perfect as an extra SSD because Your faster pricier boot drive SSD is too full.

  • $79 in store, if you live in Brisbane.
