As seen in todays Herald Sun, Vodafone are advertising the HTC Legend, HTC 7 Trophy and Nokia C7 on the $29 cap for 24 months, with $10 off for the first 12 months (saving of $120)

Not too bad for an earlier generation of smart phone with either Andriod, Windows Phone 7, or the same ole Nokia OS (still like a Commodore 64 if you ask me!)

Vodafone $29 cap comes with the following:
- 200mb data
- Free voda to voda and 3 calls
- $180 of other calls
- $10 off for first 12 months

You should also consider that they will let you upgrade your phone and cap within 3 months of it finishing, so really only 9 months paying $29.

Great for someone needing a second phone or is a light user and wants to upgrade their old brick.

Small point of note, print ad says it expiries on 31/6/2011 - Yeah good one Vodafone, date doesn't exist. Maybe your proof readers also work in customer service!

    Just realised something

For the handsets you mentioned, the minimum spending over 21 months would be
    19x12+29x9=$486

Vodafone also have a deal for Nexus S, a $50 credit off your bill. Online only** So over 21 months it would be
    29x21-50=$559

    http://shop.vodafone.com.au/mobile-details/Nexus-S

So for $70 more, you get a far superior handset

    • Don't forget MBC cashback

    • it's 24 months

      • The contract is 24months, but if you are staying with Vodafone, you can start a new contract 3 months ahead of the 24 months period, making it 21 months

Old tech, go for the nexus S.

    • Not everyone wants the Nexus S.

      Some people.

      What nightmares are you facing?
I haven't had problems with vodafone yet, so I really would like to know.

      • i have vodafone like every 2 days or something no reception at all for like 2 hours but other people say they get no reception at all or just watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=306OsChFw0A

        • I think the level of service depends largely on
          1) Where you live.
          2) The mobile you are using.

For me, my reception doesn't drop at all (unless I am underground) but half the time, I can't get 3G, only 2G.

Speaking truth. Given how many issues there still are naerly a year on from first reports, anything Vodafail related can hardly be considered a bargain. So looking just at the value of the phone, and that you're paying more for it again after 12 months, this is no bargain.

  • I have been with Vodafone for a couple of years, service at my house when i moved in was terrible. After the vodafail thing came out, i have noticed a drastic improvement in my service at home. Don't have to keep moving to find the mysterious service hole.

I suppose it could be worse, it could be a Vodafone service sold through Catch of the Day, packed in a box by Staples.

  • can these phones be unlocked for free?

    • A friend of mine did unlock their HTC Legend free on Vodafone's website, but it wasn't really advertised as free.

    • yes my nokia n8 was unlocked for free but the place i bought it from did it for me took liek 10 minutes

      • thanks for the replies, my Sony C905 and Sony x5 mini also came with free unlocking from voda :) just want to confirm it once again.

  • I unlocked my HTC legend free of cost from vodafone's website. They also had a sticker on the box saying that.
I think, cap plan HTC Legend ( can be for all cap plan mobiles, but, I am not sure) are soft locked with no crap vodafone logos , as usually most of the providers do, whereas prepaid are hardlocked. Companies dont want customers to fly away after getting their cheap mobile. You have to pay, if u want to unlock prepaid ones instantly, else wait for 6 months.

  • why did my post get so many neg? FWIW, my Lebara number (on Vodafone network) got from 0-2 bars of signal out of five possible and i live in Syd metro, 10km from the CBD.

  • WTF? What was wrong with my comment? It was in English!

Bottom line is if you go with Vodafone you are asking for a world of hurt day in day out.

Sorry OP, but any deal associated with this company is a bad recommendation. There is no point in having a smart phone if you can't use most of the features efficiently on their network.

90000 customers a month leaving Vodafone can't be a misnomer.

    • Language refers to swearing and profanities.
Not that it wasn't in english.

      • Hence the relevance of my comment - Vodafone and copious amounts of swearing go hand in hand.

  • how do we get this deal with moneybackco?? Never used MBC before…
