Yep had the same issue with adding a paypal and trying to buy it.
I then removed the paypal and added a credit card and it went through fine…

As much as this may look tempting to people, I'd still stay away from it. MS have a nasty habit of holding your gamer tag to ransom when you continue to be charged for "Gold Access" you thought was long since expired. They tried to charge me for 3 years of 'back dated' gold access when I tried to upgrade from silver not too long ago. It took a lot of phone calls and emails to get out of it, and in my opinion stress that isnt worth the 'bargain'.
Just be very wary, thats all.
Good point, in this case with this $2 for 2 month deal, you need to make sure that you call them to cancel the automatic renewal before it happens to avoid the issues above (unless you want it to continue that is!)
Hmm… I only see a $1 for 1mth offer when I checked today. perhaps the $2/2mth offer is gone? 8-(
p/s if you are already an XBL gold member, does this add an extra mth onto your existing subscription?
$2/2 month offer was still available for me. I am an existing XBL gold member and I can confirm that it added an extra two months two my existing subscription.
How to do the 2 controller trick:
On Controller 1 – Sign in to a spare Silver Account. Go into the deal on the dashboard.
On Controller 2 – Sign in to your account.
On Controller 1 – Sign out the Silver Account, whilst still being on the "Yes I want to buy Gold" screen.
On Controller 2 – Confirm the purchase and VOILA! 2 Months for $2!!!
