Nice Find, Played ALOT of The Sims 3 but never picked up 4
    glad i waited :D

  • Wow. Nice

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just built a PC, time to fill up my library

  • +5

    Cool.
And how good is the game, without purchasing the $500+ worth of DLC?

    • +2

I think you can get a fair bit out of it. I think this is more about getting people hooked before Sims 5 is released.

  • +6

Won't let me buy. Only gives me the option to "Buy as a Gift" (definitely don't own it), and I can't gift it to myself either.

    • +1

Same here. Looks like a few people are having the same issue. Some can buy via the app, some by the website. And some, neither of those.

      • +10

Refreshed the page a couple of times after logging in, and it's let me get it.

        • +9

          Thanks!
          CTRL+F5 did the trick!

      • Thanks. App wouldn't work, couple of hits on the website, and worked fine.

    • +7

I had the gift problem with the Origin client however, I was able to add it to my own library via the site.

      • Same. Ended up having to buy through web site to add this game to my library.

    • Can't add using Origin client. But via website was fine!

    • +1

If it's free to gift let me know your username/email and I'll gift it to you.

    • Same here,
but in other language, e.g. zh-TW (https://www.origin.com/aus/zh-tw/store/the-sims/the-sims-4), it's works for me.

    • Same happened to me but it worked via website. I'm guessing it's because I already had the game in my library because I tried it once. What about you guys?

  • +4

Thanks OP. Time to be a pronstar…

  • +10

Add it to your wish list and check it will be downloadable in your library.

    • Thank you - this worked!

  • +1

Just done it on my phone in 2 seconds
    Cheers

    • +1

Exactly two seconds or was that rounded?

      • +2

Can confirm it was exactly two seconds.

        • It was 2.4 seconds so rounded down. had wifi on so was using NBN or it would of been 2 exactly with 4g mobile data.

  • +3

A downgrade compared to Sims 3 and even Sims 2 gameplay wise, but for free I will give it a try.

  • Awww, no console love :(

  • Thanks!

  • +1

Thanks. My gf plays the sims 4, so now I can play without having to pay. Woo.

  • Sign in unavailable. Nice.

    • +1

are you using Brave browser? Turn off blocking and it will work

      • +1

Thanks! Enabling third-party/all cookies seems to be enough to make login work.

        • I love how sites are doing this now. Don't want our cookies then you can't use the site. PSN site is the same, login wont work without allowing their cookies.

  • +1

Thanks another game in my library.

  • +1

Thanks. Time to commit some drownings

    • +12

      And then play the game

    • Only cos EA bowed to community pressure after release and included pools in the base version due to outcry.

  • Thanks OP, easily added to Origin via the website

  • +5

I tried via the website and it only gave purchase as a gift.
Added to wishlist, went to wishlist, added to library.
Did it all through the website.

Opened Origin app and Sims 4 is there!!!

Thanks OP and also phenomenon9999 for the wishlist tip :)

  • +5

Thank OP! Works fine for me!
IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU REFRESH AFTER LOGGING IN TO BYPASS THE GIFTING MESSAGE!

  • I don't think I've ever played the Sims without putting in cheat code haha..

    Thx OP

    • +2

Its not that hard really, just take the career which pays the most (usually the army / astronaut path).

Other hacks such as, asking someone to move in - they bring in their cash, then kick them out lol (dont know if it works in Sims 4 but did in Sims 2)

  • This is just the 10% of the whole game right?

but I can't say no to free stuff

  • Now people need the cheapest way of getting the best of DLC.

    • zlorigin?

  • +1

Damn I bought the bundle a few months ago.. probably works out the same price but free is free :(

  • +1

Awesome, thanks for the heads up!

    Now Gigabit download time..
    https://imgur.com/a/f66YN0e

    • May I ask how one obtains 'gigabit' download? I'm still stuck on 15Mbps adsl2+ :(

      • +1

its bring your pc to work day today!
Hasn't the marvelous NBN come round to your place yet? or is it another 5 year wait…

        • When we moved to this property we were told it would be here by Jan-Feb 2017 but it continued to be delayed and now they're saying I will get it this month. It's FTTN so it will be crap anyway.

          • @Ostrk: What a headache. It may be easier going on a fixed 4g plan if you don't download that much. I'd expect it to arrive maybe 2020+
            Such a schamozzle

    • well, shit.

  • +1

i paid like 40 dollars for this, after discount lol

    • +2

Thank you for supporting game makers

      • +1

        Thank you for supporting *EA

    • You deserve a vote

  • Do you need anything else like extra packages DLC to play this game or it is all included?

    • Just the base game. No DLCs.

  • Amazing. Thank you.

Quick Q: If I download on a Mac can I then open and play on a PC?

    • -1

How would you play it if it’s now downloaded?

      • Just ignore me. Long day :)

        • -1

Haha it’s fine mate. You would be able to add it to your library on a Mac through the browser, then download on PC. I think that’s what you we’re asking? Not sure 😛

          • @Zazer: Yes, exactly 😂 but i did notice the "PC" in the title too 🙄

            • +2

@staz: An Apple computer is a PC.
Mac is just a "nickname" for one brand, namely Apple.
Hence PC in the title which is absolutely correct.

              • @Lysander: Thanks for clarifying. Oh dear, I'm having a good one.

I've always thought of PC as Windows and Mac as MacOS… I'm checking out for the night.

                • -1

@staz: PC refers to IBM Personal Computer or IBM PC. Computers that were not branded IBM were PC clones or PC compatible. Now everyone generally refers to all Windows based computers as PCs. You can claim that your Mac is your own personal computer but it is not a PC. Mac even fits the definition of a personal computer but it's still not a PC.

                  • @drewmoney: Nope. PC stands for Personal Computer. That's like saying that your hair dryer isn't a hair dryer because it's not the Dyson Hair Dryer, even though it "fits the definition of a hair dryer but is still not a hair dryer". Do you see how ridiculous that sounds?

A Mac is a PC. It's not a Windows PC, but it is still a PC nevertheless.

                    • @Zazer: You sound like the PC in Apple's Get a Mac advertising campaign (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48jlm6QSU4k)

                      • -1

@rinco: I'm dying at these 6-year-old comments. Thank you so much lol

Apple are now selling their products based entirely on their brand. The new iMac doesn't even have a DVD drive FFS! (profanity) your app store, some of us want to watch our DVDs.

                        • +1

@Zazer: My favourite is this one…

Mac: hey PC, what are you doing?
                          PC: Playing some games.
                          Mac: wich one?
                          PC: all of them :D

                          • -1

@rinco: Haha that's golden! I love these 7-year old people

                    • -1

@Zazer: It's almost as if you didn't read my entire comment. You also clearly do not understand the context. At least I illustrated the difference between PC (as in PC vs Mac) and using the term personal computer, rather than just being dismissive.

In the context of post titles being marked [PC, MAC], PC clearly stands for a Windows computer. That is why you see posts in here with the title of [PC] or [PC, MAC].

Your analogy of a hair dryer doesn't even fit the context, nor does it even apply to the conversation at hand. That's not like saying your hair dryer isn't a hair dryer. A better analogy would be the difference between a Crock-Pot and a slow cooker. Crock-pot [IBM PC] and slow cooker [personal computer].

Yes, a Mac is a personal computer. I never said it was not. I even said that it meets the definition of a personal computer. That means that it is a personal computer.

To differentiate between platforms the terms used are PC, MAC, Linux, iOS, Android, etc. This is why a Mac is a personal computer, but it's not a PC in this context.

Try going into an Apple store and tell them you want to buy a PC and let us know how it works out. If you can't venture out in the world because the sunlight burns your skin, just Google: PC vs MAC. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=PC+vs+MAC

  • Sorry, but do I have to register, download the origin client before I can play this game?
Or can I download this game as a exe file and install on my PC?

Edit: Ignore my qns. Found the way to download already.

  • Sign in is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

Not sure why I can't sign in. Maybe because I had to reset my password as I haven't used Origin for years.

    • i had that problem with firefox. Chrome worked for me

      • Huh, same issue with Firefox and Microsoft Edge (I was using Chrome). I'll try again tomorrow.

The only reason to play sims 4
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfZWJW4lcnQ

    • +6

      !! Warning !!
      Very boring video

      • its made by a streamer, of course its going to suck.

        • Fair enough, I watch a lot of Filmcow live streams and I'm sure they would be boring for some people but at least Filmcow does funny voices.

  • Sims 4 is so great, they're giving it away for free!*

(*They're giving it away cos it's a pale immitation of Sims 3)

  • I'm getting this for my 2 kids but I want to download it on their PC & MAC. Can I just sign up for them. And then get them to log into the account from their own computers to download it? I don't them to play on my computer.

    • +1

Yes. Two accounts needed. Add it to each account. Sign in to one account each, download, and then play.

  • I'm a bit lost - I don't see where I can get this for free? I've logged in through the app & website, tried a bunch of different ways but its still charging me. Should a 'free' option be popping up somewhere?

    • It seems the promotion has ended.

      • +1

Aw damn, thank you for the update.
